Thank you for this tutorial, Mr. Porinchak! Understanding how to use the TI-84 for chi-square tests is invaluable for statistics students. Your clear explanations make it much easier to grasp the concepts and apply them effectively. Looking forward to more helpful content from you!

you don’t have to put the expected counts into the matrix it calculates it for you

When doing a hypothesis test, do I have to show the work for the test statistic or can I just show the inputs on my calculator and write it instead?

Hi, how likely is it that a chi square test will come in frq?
@mporinchak7 ай бұрын
They are fairly common. Obviously don’t happen every year but they do happen often.

Can you show how to do it in a ti-nspire CX2 calculator since im using that and can't find the chi test that does both vectors
@mporinchak7 ай бұрын
Sorry!!! I have no idea how to use that calculator.
@skineater07 ай бұрын
why do you find the chi-squared value if you only use the p-value in the conclusion?
@mporinchak7 ай бұрын
Technically the chi square comes first and then the p value is found with it. The calculator shows both.

Is there a faster way to find the table of expected values
@mporinchak7 ай бұрын
No unfortunately
@dc_-zy2dw7 ай бұрын
There is. On your ti-84, go to matrix and create table A based on the values given to you. Then, on table B, set up the same amount of rows and columns, and set all values in the table to 0. Then, run the chi square test, and not only will it give you your answer, but if you go back to matrix, table B will no longer have zeros, but instead the accurate predicted values. Try it out, it saves a LOT of time.

Also I'm a little confused on the difference on when to use the 3 different tests

Question for anyone: do you do chi-squared independence and homogeneity the exact same way in the calculator, but with different conclusions. I know homogeneity is one variable two sample, and independence is 2 variable on sample
@lemonpiemarmalade7 ай бұрын
yes, pretty much it.
@mporinchak7 ай бұрын
Yep same procedure on the calculator.

why are we concluding the p values is > 0 when the question says that we perform it at the 1% level? shouldn't it be comparing our p value to 0.01?
