Lori and I took the SXS out for a ride in the Apache Junction area. It was a really nice day trip within our home state of Arizona. We started out at the Laguna boat ramp area (a paid parking pass is required), this is where we staged. We drove through the canyons and along the Salt River out to the Roosevelt Dam viewing area. The Apache trail has been improved and now has several asphalt sections, which is a huge improvement from what we heard from others who'd done this trail previously before the closure. The dirt sections throughout this trail are fairly wash-boarded as of January 6th 2024. So while just about any car could probably make the trip, it'll be a very bumpy drive without great 4x4 or SXS suspension.
On the way back we stopped for lunch at Tortilla Flats. It's a neat place to stop and the good is good.
