I’m on trail now heading SOBO through NJ. currently in stokes forest. Done! High point monument Nj to Delaware water gap Pa in 4 days with some snow and a fifty plus lb starting weight. ( I’m only 165) had almost the entire 40 mile rough terrain section to myself. Great time.

A little tip I got and started doing myself is to throw some little silica bags in your electronics bags to absorb humidity and condensation. I use the ones that come out of dry food boxes and pouches like the ones they put in backpacker meals. I'm sure someplace sells just the silica pouches though. Have a great hike! Wish I could be there!

The Approach Trail is part of the original Trail which, back then, began at the summit of Mt. Oglethorpe, farther south. I hiked it in 2006, but not in 2015, when I started with Freebyrd, who went on to finish. I never had such a goal. I was just a ride to the Trail, and I have hiked the Georgia section twice. Section hiking, I have done from Katahdin to Atkins, Va. Planning to finish NOBO next spring, starting with the Approach Trail again. Looking forward to your journey!

Hey Darwin thank you for all the great advice! Seems to me there is a vital piece of equipment you're missing, a cape! I've always been a weekend warrior. Longest I've ever been out is 5 days. You've inspired me to do my first thru-hike. I'm going to be hiking the OT in May. It's only 230 miles. But it's a start been averaging about 15 miles a day. in preparation for my hike. For a old-timer feeling pretty good. Thanks for the inspiration! Happy trails to you sir!!!

Erlichiosis is usually called babiosis up north. The babiosis in my area(CT) is antibiotic resistant. I talked to a fireman who had been treated with IV antibiotics for 8 months and he still wasn't cured. Another tick disease, anaplasmosis, killed my wife in 3 weeks. Be very careful. Good Luck, Rick

I am so pumped I will be out on trail while you're out there 🤩 I seriously hope to get to meet you!! But my launch date is 3/12 so you might be way gone lol You were one of the first vloggers I started following and I have learned sooooo much, thank you! I am finally making my 15yr old dream come true and watching you helped get me out there. We actually had a van we turned into a camp van and modified almost just like yours about 6 yrs ago. We called it our "man van" so my hubs didn't have a soccer mom van 🤣 we absolutely loved it, was a Dodge caravan. We have plans to get another after my thru hike. Anyhoooo.....happy trails and stay safe. See there you hopefully! P.S. It's not a green screen 😎 it's just northern AZ winter, I loved the area near Flagstaff and Alpine and Springerville and Luna lake when we lived there. 🥾🥾 AT2020

Hi Darwin! Hello from Mauritius/ Indian Ocean. The AT doesn't speak to me as much as your pct or azt did or even your attempt of the cdt. Maybe I will after watching your upcoming vlogs from it! Wishing you a great hike on the AT and be safe. Thank you again for all the great videos of your adventures! By the way. The highest peak on my island is 850 metres! And I so want to hike the pct or azt! Only thing I'm worried about is altitude sickness and the extreme cold we don't get in the tropics! Cheers and have fun! You're such an inspiration to me down here in the southern hemisphere!

Great to also see evolution (actually, self-steered development) in your vlogging style and content. With so many people vlogging their thruhikes you need something unique, next to your personality, and (I think) style, content and technique fit the bill. I hope I'm not trespassing (if you feel I am simply ignore) but I wonder if Snuggles is going to make an appearance on these vids?

Hey Darwin, around 7:20 you say "...and becasue I don't use DCF packs anymore, they're not waterproof, I use the Waymark Evolve, and I am using a pack liner..." what is the "they're" referring to.
