Tim Cook isn't Steve Jobs and he doesn't try to be Steve Jobs. It could've been disastrous for Apple when Jobs passed away, but Apple has done nothing but growing and rightfully so. Cook is a good CEO for Apple no matter what people say.

The way Apple turned the ship from 1997 until now, in just 20 years Apple went from near bankruptcy with dismal sales to this behemoth market performance, is truly an inspiring story.

The Homepod isn't a competitor to Amazon Echo or Google Home, Apple has pitched the Homepod as a speaker with voice recognition not voice assistant with speakers. In other words the Homepod is a speaker first and foremost while Echo and Home are assistants. Like if you agree
@savedfaves
@savedfaves 7 жыл бұрын
Like if we agree? This isn’t Facebook. Whatever way the pitch it it competes with those other products in the sense that if you buy a HomePod you are unlikely to buy Google Home. I suspect the biggest reason they focus on it being a great speaker is to differentiate it from the iPhone.

@Oneness100

He can't say certain things about future product announcements, so he has to be careful how he answers pointed or loaded questions. The thing is, Apple's not really trying to compare their product to the others because if you are an Apple Music or HomeKit user, the other products are useless. That's the primary target of this product and instead of not paying attention to sound quality, Apple decided that was more important for the hardware of the product and that the AI will evolve over time and that's software driven and they'll add things when they add them, but he can't comment on future things. The media always tries to get them to talk about things they don't want to talk about. It's not like Tim is going to spill the beans on there current negotiations, what there roll out plans for new features, software enhancements until they are ready to release.

A great CEO of one of the most successful corporations.
@freddyblast1021
@freddyblast1021 7 жыл бұрын
most successful corporations? ill give you that but this guy isn't a great CEO, he has yet to change the game, bring something new to the table, innovate or play friendly with other companies. This guy is known to have a big mouth about competitors and constantly talks bad about other products (which is weak and unprofessional in my opinion). Google & Microsoft leaders when given the chance talk about how good apple is and explain why they are different, this guy just runs his mouth then copies. But if you don't believe me look up "Tim Cook Bonus" he missed out on his yearly bonus this year because of Apple not performing, A GREAT CEO wouldn't miss because of under-performance. but there is my 2 cents :)

Weird Creepy Strange you must not know much about Tim Cooks history at Apple.. He was absolutely key in turning Apple around long before becoming CEO... Hell, he changed an entire market through control of the supply chain with Adobe in the big turn around.. Read up..
@Oneness100
@Oneness100 7 жыл бұрын
what was unprofessional about what he said about other competitors? I don't see anything wrong with what he said in this interview. It's called answering the question and being HONEST. He didn't slam any of their competitors in this video. When you make a criticism, please provide more specifics to support your argument. He doesn't really slam competitors. The market in general didn't perform well over the past 12 months. It's not like everyone else had huge gains except Apple. They were in a period where they hadn't released refreshes because they are waiting for certain components to be available. Why release a product if you can't ship it? But Apple has a pipeline for the next 12 months. and they just refreshed their iPad Pros, iMacs, and Laptops and they are bringing out the HomePod, which may turn out to be a big sellers. Tim isn't as concerned about him making money as much as you are. He gives lots of it away and he doesn't have to live in a $100 million house w/ lots of expensive material things. I don't think his aspirations are to be the wealthiest CEO. But Apple stock has increased about 50% from a couple of years ago. Remember when it had a stock split? It became $100 stock. It's now trading at around $150. What's wrong with that? The shareholders aren't complaining. He certainly isn't being asked to step down anytime soon. Warren Buffett has recently invested a huge amount in Apple Stock, so he must know something you don't. Changed the game? so what product has anyone else come out with that has changed the game? They are constantly improving and perfecting their products. They did release a pretty major file system through their product line and that's significant for those that understand a file system. It's a MAJOR innovative approach to a file system.

Let's see. Here's a list of things done under Tim Cook. Apple went above 200 Million iPhone devices sold in a year under Tim Cook. 1. Larger screen iPhones. the 4S was the last phone released with Jobs. With Tim, they released the larger 4inch, 4.7, 5.5 inch models. 2. Larger iPad Pros. 3. iMac Pro. A real workstation class iMac. 4. Apple Watch, which has about 50% of the smartwatch market. 5. Apple Music streaming service. 6. Health Kit. 7. Home Kit 8. A new file system to replace a 30 year old file system. 9. They have partnerships with IBM, Cisco and SAP to help bring Apple products to the Enterprise market. 10. IBM is now deploying Macs within IBM to a point where it represents over 1/4 of IBM's workforce and in Japan, IBM has standardized on Macs as they are replacing Windows based computers. Something Jobs was never able to do.

Oops i guess your right i wasnt being too specific, i wasnt talking about him slamming anyone in this video but he's had lots of other times where he & his team (phil & the other douches) constantly bad mouth & poke fun of other companies. If You Wanna Get Specific: www.engadget.com/2015/11/11/tim-cook-surface-book/ www.businessinsider.com/apples-tim-cook-just-ripped-android-to-shreds-2014-6 www.cultofmac.com/198221/tim-cook-microsoft-surface-is-confusing-like-a-car-that-flies-and-floats/ Why release a product if you cant ship it?? yea... im sure apple doesnt have a track record of doing so. Tim isnt concerned about making money? for an iPad ($899 + $99 For pencil & $169 for crap keyboard?) You could literally buy a Tablet PC and run photoshop with that money. What product has changed the game?? Surface Pro, Samsung VR, Echo Dot, & Fitbit. And this list doesnt even include the Boundaries that other Companies are pushing [Surface Studio, HoloLens, Oculus, HTC Vive, OLED Displays, Curved & Bendable Screens but thats another story on how "Innovative" Apple really is] Larger screen iPhones (Samsung & every other Android phone did that for years) Larger iPad Pros (A 12inch Tablet that supports pen and keyboard?) Surfa... oh nvm Apple Watch, which has about 50% of the smartwatch market (4 years late but ok, im sure that had nothing to do with people wanting their watches to match their phone) Home Kit (yawn sounds alot like Smart Things from Samsung) A new file system to replace a 30 year old file system (thats cute, i was just reading a post somewhere where someone said you cant even merge 2 folders together on MacOS) They have partnerships with IBM, Cisco and SAP to help bring Apple products to the Enterprise market (Oh like Microsoft has been doing with Dell for years?) Dude even Macs in the product line run windows LULZ twitter.com/tim_cook/status/474935247335743489/photo/1

I remember when Google launched Chrome OS, and Microsoft were introducing cloud stuff into Windows. I wondered what Apple would do, competitors seemed to have features the Mac did not. Then Apple announced iCloud at WWDC 2011, and I thought they'd leapfrogged everyone else. Now, they do similar things: Not the first stylus (obviously) but Apple Pencil and iPad Pro is the best digital drawing experience. The reaction - even in these comments - is "oh man, Apple used to be first...". You're totally misremembering if you think that. Also, Apple are completely silent on products before they're ready. So people compare things like "Google are working on driverless cars" - something in a Google lab - to what you can walk into an Apple store and buy.
@Oneness100
@Oneness100 7 жыл бұрын
People seem to forget that Apple did have the first modern for it's time, PDA with a stylus, called the Newton, but due to screen technology not being that great, they decided to can the product and wait. But Apple's actually fulfilling the 1980's Knowledge Navigator in a modern approach. That's essentially what EVERYONE is copying. Go check out the video on KZbin. it was very futuristic, but it's the blue print for modern computing. Also, Apple had been developing stylus products back in the 80's long before anyone else was doing it. Go check out early Apple prototypes. You'll see a lot of things Apple was already working on 20 to 30 years ago. ICloud was just a more recent reiteration of their previous systems. They had Mobile Me, and .Mac before iCloud, which was earlier, more primitive versions of iCloud long before Google and Microsoft had theirs. So, in that case, Apple did have a cloud services component long before the others, they just needed to modernize it and they obviously learned from their mistakes as newer technology and approaches emerged. Autonomous cars have been in development long before Google. and Google hasn't shipped a car yet. Tesla kind of beat them to that. I don't know what Apple's planning on doing with cars, but they seem to think that they'll benefit somehow from that R&D. It may not be in a car, but maybe underlying technology they can license to other car mfg.

I think Tim finally answered the question to some who wonder why they don't really innovate -- they're not planning to be the first at anything, they're trying to be the best at everything. So it make sense for competitors to take the lead and then Apple comes back with a better version of it.

It's a home music speaker with a built in assistant. The functionality of the assistant will have a certain baseline functionality at first and will evolve over time. Since the product hasn't shipped, we have to wait to see how much functionality it will have as an assistant, but they did list a bunch of features it will have initially.

Harvard? Oh, so SHE went to Harvard. An education is an education. I've known people that have gone to reputable colleges, got A's, but when it came to actually putting what they learned or were supposed to have learned into practice, they obviously didn't learn anything. Yes, I'm all about getting an education, but what degree did she get and why is she stuck behind a camera interviewing other successful people rather than carving out her own success story as a doer, rather than an interviewer. It doesn't take THAT much to ask some questions to the other person. Heck, I have found that most of these interviewers ask stupid questions or they aren't asking the right questions. It's almost like the questions are very generic, they don't get to the heart and she doesn't seem to pull out information that other's haven't been able to pull out.. Tim Cook has his own script of how he answers fluff questions. She's asking fluff questions. It doesn't take much brain power to come up with fluff questions. When I watch these interviews, I want to come away knowing more than I did when the interview started, but that's rarely the case since the questions and answers aren't anything new that I didn't already know.

And in 2017 I bought the latest MacBook Pro and it seems like that it creates so many hassles. Have to keep the dongles always with me, and for that have to carry a bag. What kind innovation is that if that doesn't make your life easier??? MagSafe was a great innovation from Apple and now USB-C what's with that? buh.......will take a long to complain about Apple's latest innovation. Now I'm still using the mid-2012 MacBook Pro and happy with that as it makes my life much more easier than this Shit peace of a metal crap that is just built with good metal but it is an underpowered machine, that touchbar doesn't work properly............. really disappointed with you Tim Cook

Apple is making a mistake. The iMac Pro won't sell. Why? Because pros have always wanted their mac pros to be upgradable because for pros & businesses it's not practical to spend several thousands of dollars every 3-4 years. That's part of the reason why the mac pro didn't sell well, it wasn't upgradable & Apple is doing the same mistake again. All this & still no update for the mac pro. Apple has no idea what they're doing, their business strategy is crap, their product line is over saturated, no attention or at least now, no effective strategy on satisfying pro users, & finally but not least... Let me remind that Apple has been using the exact same design since 2007. Nothing has changed except it getting slimmer & slimmer. Non pro users need excitement from new designs the way it used to be pre 2007 & the product line needs to have distinction between pro & non pro. Pro designs tend to be duller & more simplistic such as the mac book pro pre 2007. You don't go ahead & make the entire line have the same design.

TIM COOK, I HOPE YOU GET THIS MESSAGE. AND I HOPE YOU CONTACT ME. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR SEXUAL PREFERENCE AS I FEEL YOU HAVE THE DIVINE RIGHT TO CHOOSE YOUR SEXUAL PREFERENCE AND WHAT THAT IS, IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS! THAT HAVING BEEN SAID, I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT 'APPLE' CHANGED MY LIFE. Not just technically, but ethically. Here is how. When i subscribed to Apple care, i met up with a level of courtesy, competency, and patience that i never believed existed before on earth. Then Steve died and that high level of service began its downward slide. i just got off the phone with an Apple Agent who was screaming at me. i kept the time and date as a reference so someone call investigate the call. October 2nd, 'Jeff'' 1:pm. Why is Apple trying to dupe the public? Apple has become another AT&T and Comcast. They 'waltz the customer' around - How are you doing? . . I'm so sorry.. etc. "Jolly the stupid customer. . tell them over and over again "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. . and just B,S them like AT&T while remembering that you have no clout to do anything about their problem.No power to make them happy except to jolly them with words and words and words. The 'word runaround' is what the customer gets.!!! Steve Jobs never did that. The Customer was KING and Apple was Camelot! It set the bar for every other big company. It was heaven on earth! Sadly, no more! Recently, i went through 3 days of nightmare with Apple. I lost $2000 because of Apple's error. Steve sent me a supply line once for my computer when Apple made a mistate. i didn't understand and thought Apple had made an error. i tried to return it and was told it was a gift. My heart wobbled all day with joy.

Homepod is apples worst invention yet, its their new Coke, legit zero innovation and zero new ideas coming out of Apple

peer to peer shit, this gentleman still ignores one of his biggest money vortex, i really love apple but all his answers are PR . WTF Jobs turns in his grave, they were THE beacon of innovation, iOS11 is just another plugin. Really confused on the Apple Road...

Tim cook really doesnt convince me. Ios 11has such a crappy start, imac still looks the same, macbook pro is overpriced and underpowered. The iphone is Apple though. They soley rely on it doing well. And the iphoneX is a bet that could go wrong
