Kinda surprised that we got a 17 minute story but I'm happy with it
@dragonfliesnh42049 ай бұрын
There's nothing wrong with having longer videos for those who like them, which many do. We can see how long they are without selecting them and aren't being forced to watch them. Plus, you're confusing this channel with one of her other ones. The one that have longer stories is Apple Text, not this one. It's absolutely ridiculous the amount of people who were complaining when there are multiple channels she owns along with many other channels that have texting stories. If you don't like them, just don't watch them.

Shouldn’t one look for furniture AFTER buying a house to make sure it’ll fit and match the vibe of the house itself?

Nothing different has happened to Darren. You see by leaving him and them to it, they remain who they really are. Helena early in life has seen the power of walking away. Simple, sweet, and effective without casting shade. Never to become like them. I hope I can do the same if it ever comes my way.

The mother telling her she doesn't have to get married just because it's expected was great. Of course it was ruined in the epilogue, but baby steps.

I’m sooooo tired of these stories where the MC of the story decides to lump in the SO who hasn’t done that much wrong or is oblivious to what’s going on with the people who are actually causing problems and just end everything with them instead of communicating with them and setting boundaries… Like don’t get married if you don’t love the person, but why have these stories where it seems like the MC didn’t care about the SO from the beginning and it just kind of makes them look like just as much of a jerk in the end.

Sounds like everyone was from the same geographic area. Did she say 5 years? 5 years to find out her future in-laws are tools? Did she ever meet them? Also, his side is kicking in 30% of what? The down payment? The retail price of the place? The couple might get a very generous gift. Could be a lot of money. Normally it's pretty open ended.

So… you’re not gonna say what happened to Darren and his family? 😮
@derekjohnson89109 ай бұрын
Why would they? Sometimes life doesn’t wrap up like that. You claim your own peace of mind and you get away from the fallout. Awesome ending I think.

@@derekjohnson8910That’s lazy writing.
@derekjohnson89109 ай бұрын
@@satoshimaebara7190 Not necessarily. Some of the most compelling pieces of writing are the leanest, trimmed of the most fat. If we’re following a single protagonist, the scope of the story extends only as far as her stake in the conflict. She’s found a resolution here, so the downfall or lack thereof of anyone else is none of her concern. Just because the viewer/reader was denied their cathartic shaudenfreude doesn’t mean the writing is lazy. It just means other elements of the story are more important.
@satoshimaebara71907 ай бұрын
@@derekjohnson8910 Nope. By that logic, you’ve made the “meat” so ridiculously lean that you might as well toss the involved characters. Lazy at best, rushed and incompetent at worst.
@derekjohnson89107 ай бұрын
@@satoshimaebara7190 Depends on the story. Some characters really are just plot devices to get us from point A to point B. In this case, it’s a matter of perspective. Is the protagonist the only one that matters, thus everyone else is a satellite character, unimportant the second they’ve served their role? Or are the antagonists fully fledged characters in and of themselves and thus we need to see their journey as well? Since I’m kind of chuckling at myself debating the merits of writing on a damn Apple Text Channel, I’m gonna leave by saying my own perspective is that the antagonists are just devices.

A nice short story. Kind of a weird one but that’s okay
@Shontavius9 ай бұрын
While the brevity of the story was nice, I still have to ask “WTF?” This one actually feels like an interesting idea but not complete. It was too rushed and felt that you just wanted to get something out. There really wasn’t a full resolution to the ending. If the listener is not to care what happens to the antagonist family, then why should the story have included them to begin with. It seems like it’s a waste of a story to put that much investment of the antagonist in it, and then just blow them off in the end. 🤨

I'm 3 minutes in and I'm already annoyed with that family.. they're already showing some serious red flags.. " I want to see the receipts for the furnitire & appliances"?.. WTF are they?.. darren wasn't just a mama's boy.. his sister also had control over him... their plan was to make her pay for everything.. I'm sure she would've also been the one to clean the house and cook all the meals.. she was just the ATM /potential maid to them.. I perosnally would've walked away at the "I want to see the receipts".. no way in hell I would've have showed up at no church talking about marryong into that family.. her life would've been sheer hell.
