@@Ocastia gaming ones in particular, they have to physically dump a couple hundred watts. My really thin one has a giant 230w power brick, and the next model up you have to carry 2x of those heavy bricks! It is very power efficient considering it's very high performance, but since it's almost as thin as my current thin work laptop (which has a slower CPU and GPU is about 150x slower yet I'm suppose to be doing complex CAD design with it... It runs, just not as fluid as it could be), then those fans need to move 200w of hot air out of them if needed instead of maybe 40w max which is why they need to run a lot faster, although mine has a really decent duel fan design so most of the time it's not too bad. The office style laptops are pretty silent if you're not needing extra high performance, but gaming really demands high powered graphics processing (same with some video editors or CAD programs, especially if you have it running on multiple 4k monitors)

The CPU I run at -125mV which gave me about a 15% or higher Cinebench score (so long term performance is even higher since default is 85w for 28 seconds in high boost state before eventually throttling heavy to 45w limit). The cooling solution is exceptionally well done, about 7 heat pipes (even the VRM is well cooled with 8mm vapor chamber heat pipes), and the duel fans makes it nice, but it will still get loud since it's roughly 220w in a super thin laptop and it's 120 Hz screen makes sure it takes all the graphics power in games that it can get. You should be able to find some of my laptops scores under my 3dMark bench name 0C_Monk3y (you'll see that I love crossfire builds and in my description notes I include if it was air/water/sub-zero phase/dry ice or other and what kind of modifications such as unlimited power BIOS with Vram timing modifications or external voltage hardware mods).

The adverts shown here are not for ssds, true. But if we compare macs to PCs, let's make another comparison: how much costs to add more RAM into a Mac? Macs (at least those that do not have only passive cooling) are noisy too when used more intensive. I agree that the original advert where the PC/laptop was dead silent made me ask myself if the "gamer" was playing Solitaire, I agree with you on that one.
@vikingro3 жыл бұрын
@Hrishitava Sarkar You will do as it is the best for you. However, do not have a too strong opinion about Intel: the PC processors market is an oligopoly - only 2 market players. Even if we add Apple and the Chromebooks (Chromebooks do not deserve to be in this categorization, but hey, let's be generous), and it is still not a "free" market - none of the few players will disappear, and definitely not Intel even with all the bad management that they had. Are the Ryzen processors better for you? Buy them. But be a realist as well: the only worse thing than a market with a small number of competitors is a market with only one producer: a monopoly. Another market with only 2 competitors (another oligopoly): PC graphic cards. Nvidia and AMD. I wouldn't brag about any of them as being better. The same is with AMD and Intel: yeah, AMD may be better now as Intel was better a few years ago, but it is not an insane difference. You can do your thing on a PC with either Ryzen or Intel - unless you have some very special tasks to accomplish. I'm using my PC for games, movies, office, some basic programming, learning - basic stuff generally. Both Ryzen and Intel are good enough. The differences may appear if I would start producing videos at very high quality (I am not), streaming (I am not) or playing the very latest games at 4K and highest resolution (I am not). What is your story? Why do you consider that AMD Ryzen is better than Intel Core "no matter what"?
@liquidmark50813 жыл бұрын
@@vikingro Intel isn’t trying to sell SSD’s. Also, they’re embarrassing themselves here. They’re basically showing that they’re afraid of the m1. Notice that AMD hasn’t said two words about Apple and Apple hasn’t said two words about Intel since releasing the M1. Those companies know that they have a tomorrow. The m1 is apples opening move and the results were devastating for Intel. Apple’s entry level SoC smacked the taste out of Intel’s entire line with only their biggest and baddest chip barely holding on for dear life.

I can share files and software from my desktop and it has compatibility with practically anything I need it to have compatibility for. It's louder and hotter than a mac, sure, but only if I need it to run at max performance, and I don't think spending an extra 500 is worth a cooler laptop to the touch... The ONLY reason that really justifies having a mac is if you need it for a very specific task/software. Other than that, windows laptops are far more versatile and more cost effective of a device. As I said, I use it for college, but I also use it for travel, for gaming, for watching TV/movies. And if it does break, it's a cheap-er replacement.
