Made it today, first time ever and it tasted amazing. Sprinkled a little icing sugar on top to serve. I'm a complete beginner, first time doing anything with pastry and this recipe turned out flawless.

I literally had to scroll through Pages and pages sponsored recipes to find this again! I am saving it this time. This is absolutely the best, although I really don't use the preserves.

This is, to my mind, the perfect method of making/baking an apple tart. Whipped cream as a personal preferrence. Incidentally, ever heard of dessert forks? Saves chasing the ice-cream all over the plate or even onto the floor.

This looks so simple and delicious! Here in the USA we like a slice of Cheddar cheese on our apple pie, I can't help but think some finely shredded Cheddar cheese would be so delicious on this and skip the ice cream and crème fraiche. Yummy!

If I had an apple peeler like the one you have I would "put up" (freeze) more apples! I have an apple tree that has small but tasty apples on it, I hate to peel them because they are so small. I think I am going to try and find a peeler like yours!!

i tried this and a bunch of things went wrong, use a higher dish, i used a baking tray and the butter poured out and caught on fire in the oven, i might of used too much butter, these are my mistakes but i hope whoever sees this and wants to make it will use a deep dish n less butter just in case!

Will this recipe work with fahrenheit rather than celsius?
@atoyshabassene62738 жыл бұрын
mrtodd3620 just convert to the temp u use in your country. this is the formula Celsius: T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32) / (9/5) Fahrenheit: T(°F) = T(°C) × 9/5 + 32

You could add a vanilla bean to some sugar for a few days to a week and then spread that 'flavoured' sugar over the apples before baking. In the 'olden days' my mother-in-law used to use just apples in her apple pies and they tasted just as delicious! It's up to your personal taste. Another commenter on here also suggested cooking up a little butter with apples in a pan, sprinkling with sugar and a little water, let this cook and bubble away gently and reduce til thick, then you can blend /purée it to make a 'compote'. You could add a little finely grated zest of lemon to it as it cooks to add a nice, fresh taste or add some vanilla extract which goes well with apples, too. Then you can brush this onto the puff pastry (in a thin layer in between the score lines or this may make the puff pastry base too soggy while cooking) and then proceed with the recipe as he suggested in this video, but maybe skip or add less sugar on top if doing it this way ? Good luck! I'm looking forward to using up some of my apples tomorrow making this tart !
