Apple is planting a flag in the ground with this V1 product. They'll use what they learn from the market and release a perfected V2 product -- along with getting supply chain ready to support V2. The press and overall excitement around Apple Vision Pro are worth more than the actual sales figures, IMHO.

Excellent video - thanks for the coverage. FWIW, from my perspective, the digital personas are just not that important a feature to get worked up about. If I need to make a FaceTime call, I'm going to use my iPhone almost all of the time and only use the Vision Pro when absolutely necessary or for testing.

For as much as I agree with a lot of what’s been said, I think that we need to remember that this device has been out for all of ten minutes. Should we really expect a perfect product. The V1 iPhone didn’t even have very copy paste or an App Store. We just seem to be ready to call it bad without really take in with in context. With all devices and not just the Vision Pro. Show me a VR product that doesn’t leave you somewhat disconnected from your reality or anything more than a personal experience. This feels like (as said in the title and video) it’s a beta product getting ready for AR glasses. I think this is a really interesting product. Too rich for my blood though. I think that this will push other company’s and the field in general.

👍👍 video review, this 1st gen Apple Vision pro is a public beta ( cash to blow) & developer device to further the tech & software along with getting people more used to the look an aware of the technology preparing for future generations that will be smaller lighter more useful & cheaper for mass market adoption, waiting to see where this tech & ai combined go in next few years

4:44 - THANK YOU!! FINALLY, someone actually says it! I've been saying this for the last couple weeks now when i found this out and it continues to baffle me why they didn't make 512 GB the base storage instead to justify the high price tag. Heck, it baffles me why they didn't go all the way with having stuff like the case and a year of apple care plus included with every purchase. Just Apple at their greediest as usual. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Converted 3d from 2D looks awful and tends to have a lot of artifacts and issues. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with watching 2D movies in VR, it feels like you’re in a theater or something. They really need to add social experiences, I’d love to be able to watch stuff with friends like how SharePlay works on phones, but sharing a virtual space with people. This is something the quest has been able to do for years.

the whole point of mixed reality is not immersion, but interact with reality. and for work and really long time use, see through is a necessity, though the screen and latency is already amazing, it is still far away from the real human eyes.

The battery pack needs 2 type c ports and micro sd storage for media & external battery pack to charge the shitty 2hr battery pack.

Dude... I think you are totally wrong... I think you and many reviewers are missing the PRO piece.... Again this is a PRODuctivity device and you are missing that piece. You are missing the incorporation of the Apple ECO systems... I love it and have totally incorporated it into my Productivity life. People are comparing this this to the GAMING DEVICES.... This is not a Gaming Device it's a PROductivity device that can do Gaming.... I honestly don't this that there will be a "Apple Vision" Device for any year. Yes you I can surf a Samsung tv but you won't us that for Productivity....

Tech journalists are really weird. If someone would build an actual time machine the still would moan about that it gives them a headache or that it is too expensive. And speaking of price: I don't get that people are complaining about that $3500,- price tag. It is a huge collection of high end tech in a relatively small housing and does some many things so much better than any of the rivals. Heck, even my laptop or my tv cost more than this and can not do half of the stuff this device does. I am no apple fan boy but it really annoys me that everybody is always complaining about everything.

The problem is that this is a beta device with very limited utility. The tech is indeed very impressive, the displays are probably the best in any consumer VR display and the design is on another level from other VR companies. However, almost any modern laptop can do far more, a much cheaper laptop than 3500 could do far more. I could get a MacBook Air m2 for much less and be able to use desktop class applications like ableton live which I don’t think I would ever want to use in vr frankly. It frankly isn’t good as a productivity device or an entertainment device yet. As an entertainment device, a much cheaper quest 3 has a lot more going for it, as a productivity device, a much cheaper laptop can do far more. It’s still very early days so if they update frequently and respond to feedback it could be an incredible device but right now there’s 0 reason to buy one unless you’re developing apps for it.

I really, REALLY dislike how tech KZbin will sometimes turn into a mindless echo chamber. “Tech bros” repeating the same inane talking points. Before the AVP release it was Apple’s “shameful 256 GBs of storage.” Now you’re all repeating the Verge’s sudden concerns over social isolation. That horse has already left the barn. Have you ridden a train lately? Been in a coffee shop? Worked out at a gym? We have been tuning others out for over a decade. People are no more isolated in the VP pass through than they are isolated when on the phone talking with friends or reading on a Kindle.
