This is easily my favorite of the finales, and it all comes down to how powerful and smart Starlight is. She's a lot more powerful than you'd expect a non-Alicorn to be, and Iove that.

+funcoolfunfun I failed to comment in it on the video (too many things to talk about, not enough time), but the only other unicorn we've seen with levitation powers is Pumpkin Cake. Based on that, we know it's possible, but few unicorns seem to have that much magical ability, at least in adult form. Here's another interesting thought. Was the equality village so remote that Tirek never actually got to it? Starlight didn't seem to actually know anything about the crucial role the Mane 6 played in all these events, including the battle with Tirek, and had never heard of Twilight prior to the Mane 6's arrival at the beginning of season 5. With Starlight's level of magic power, if Tirek had consumed her magic, along with the rest of the ponies in Equestria, he probably would have been able to overpower Twilight in the mega battle in the S4 finale, rather than it ending up a stalemate.

Applegeek For Pumpkin Cake, keep in mind that she's still a baby.So we don't know if it's natural for unicorn babies to have strong magic, then at some point they lose all that ability and have to learn how to use it. But probably for the village thing. I mean, I doubt Discord even knew about it. Otherwise the season premiere could have gone VERY differently.

+funcoolfunfun Yep, it's possible that baby unicorns are born with a level of magic ability that is disproportionate to their size, so they may be able levitate and do other crazy things, but once they grow up, the magic ratio balances out. Interestingly, unicorns can levitate OTHER ponies, just not themselves. I take that as an effect similar to trying to sail a sailboat by blowing at the sail with a fan in the same boat. The action/reaction kind of cancels itself out, unless the wind is so strong that enough of it bounces off the sail and pushes back enough to move the boat forward, but even then most of the gross wind power is just wasted. To levitate yourself must require enough magic to overcome some sort of similar magical "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" effect, given that Twilight is one of the strongest magic users we know of and even she was surprised by Starlight's ability.

Theory: the final future is actually from the most insignificant villain in the show: The Parasprites. Ponyville would have gotten an out break and when someone finally decided to do something it was Twilight original solution in Swarm of The Century. So basically the parasprites ate everything, even the ponies.....even each other.

She trapped them in Tartaros, took over the school, and almost drained all magic from Equestria through her own machinations- as a child, give or take a year or so. With the timeline having been tampered with there's no guarantee that it would have progressed linearly.

Given how much the timeline was messed up, it is possible that Cozy Glow took over equestria, but it's unlikely. She was even younger at that time, and both of her sources of knowledge didn't exist. She didn't learn about the power of friendship on the school and Tirek had no reason to teach her about how to steal magic, since he didn't lost to the mane 6. Of course she could've taken over Equestria by other means. As I said, it's possible, just not that likely.

14:25 i believe the reason Twilight didn't stop being an alicorn is because, due to the spell, she, spike and starlight were out of time, meaning, whilst whatever starlight did in the past changed the future, the three of them were shielded from the changes by the spell itself.

Here's what I found in IMDb trivia: 1. A reality in which Trixie took over equestria was scripted, but was cut from the final product due to time constraints. 2. A reality in which Derpy ruled was proposed but was cut as it took away from the tone 3. Another scrapped reality would have been Twilight meeting with an older Starlight standing over a desolated world. In it older Starlight would have pleaded with Twilight to forgive what she did and beg her to stop her younger self. This was scrapped as it was deemed too dark for a child's show

I actually read up on how ponies actually are, and realized that DHX and Hasbro did their homework. Ponies, and every other horse species, need a connection to another creature, whether it be anot her pon or anot her creature. If they don't have that connection, they develop psychological problems and bad habits. Which is exactly what happened to Starlight Glimmer when she lost her only close connection. And since she never developed a connection with anypony for possibly years and years, it would get worse. Meaning her reasons are understandable, because she was legitimately not in her right mind.

Sunburst was her only friend. He was so excited at getting his cutie mark he ran out to show everyone, leaving her alone. She was too socially awkward and afraid to make new friends. I can kinda identify with that. So her back story doesn't strike me as silly like it does for so many. Her redemption does seem a little rushed, but she already saw what her actions caused, and she's not really *evil* so much as angry and sad. She needed someone to reach out her.

+misty miller Huh, wow, how I did I miss that? That's an excellent point. FWIW, I do love Spike's role in these episodes. He really got to shine in his role as the faithful assistant, rather than just being there for comedy relief. After all, if he hadn't grabbed the map Starlight left behind, or for that matter kept grabbing it as they warped back and forth through the timelines, Twilight would have basically been screwed. He also pointed things out and asked good questions at the right times to help Twilight's thought process. I think this was actually one of Spike's best performances in the show thus far. I still would like to see him grow in maturity though, and play a bigger part in the show somehow.

+Chris Tackett Yep, I've heard that from many people, and I completely agree. It just didn't make sense that Starlight never saw Sunburst again, or even tried to write to him or anything. Having Sunset be her childhood friend makes total sense, because Sunset went to an alternate dimension/reality/whateveryouwannacallit, meaning there would literally have been no way for Starlight to ever see her again. Unfortunately, the writers seem determined to keep any mention of the EG content out of the main MLP:FiM canon, with the exception of the Flash Sentry cameo, which is basically meaningless. Regarding the backstory, I do have a problem with it in that it seems a bit of a stretch to think that the loss of a single friend would be enough to send Starlight to the dark side. However, there could have been a lot more factors at play that simply weren't revealed. We no nothing about her parents, or what kind of a life she had as a filly aside from playing with Sunburst, so it's not completely unbelievable. The only other thing I can't resolve in my mind is Sunburst's cutie mark. It didn't seem like he did anything that revealed his special talent, at least not anything that was related to the sun at all. All he did was use some area-of-effect telekinesis magic to catch and re-shelf the books. Oh, and he levitated too, which is a bit more impressive, but I still don't see how it relates to the actual cutie mark he got. Oh well, there are still plenty of mysteries regarding how cutie marks really work (as was specifically touched on at the beginning of this season finale). I just hope that means we'll get more clarification on cutie mark magic in the next season.

+Kibate You do make some excellent points here. Regarding the cutie marks, you are correct that they aren't always completely literal. For example, I still don't know what Derpy's cutie mark is supposed to represent. For Rarity specifically though, I would argue that it doesn't just represent her ability to find gems (which btw I'm sure she does constantly, just not on screen), but also her ability to apply them to use them to enhance her fashion designs, which she does do quite often. And then again, there's Applejack's mark, which is just three apples, which is indeed very vague, and basically just points to the fact that feels she is destined to work at Sweet Apple Acres. And of course we know that ponies can have several talents, not all of which are specifically related to their cutie mark. Overall cutie marks still have a lot of unknown properties, and I love that the show writers are intentionally keeping it vague in order to further explore the subject going forward. For Sunburst leaving, I can definitely see your point on this. I don't think it was his fault so much as it was his parents' fault for ripping him away from his friends without so much as a goodbye, assuming that's actually how it went down, but it makes sense that a young Starlight wouldn't have understood that. And yeah, I also concede that keeping in touch isn't necessarily easy in this world. Cranky Doodle and Matilda are proof of that. I guess the biggest problem here is that we simply weren't given enough details about what really happened, and as a result, it's too easy to jump to conclusions. I really hope we get to see Sunburst show up in season 6 so Starlight can properly deal with those past demons. I've been seeing some things that suggests me might be showing up, but I haven't actually watched any of the official promo clips, so I don't know for sure. For the sake of reacting, I want to be at least mildly surprised if he does make an appearance. ;)

Uh, Sombra? Some timelines are fraught with speculation, but the Crystal War Timeline is pretty cut-and-dry. Spike didn't hatch in Twilight's care, thus he never saved the Crystal Empire. How do we know Twilight was in the Crystal Empire? Well, Chrysalis was before Sombra, and if you replace Twilight with LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE, they won't have the right connections with both Shining Armor and Princess Cadance, thus they won't suspect the fake Cadance. (And in the process of doing that, I've also shed some pretty clear light on why Chrysalis rose to power in the second timeline, though who exactly replaced Twilight is unknown.)

2 things I have observed that others seem to have missed in this episode: 1. When Starlight reveals her backstory, it ironically fits in with the theming of the episode, i.e. the butterfly effect, or how small events can cause long-term consequences. It makes sense! 2. Dude, that exchange at the climax, it was an epic "talk down from the ledge" sort of moment! Even long before the show tackled pony "suicides"! Y'know, Starlight's actions in response to Sunburst leaving were extremely disproportionate and her motivation doesn't really work as an excuse or justification because of that. Countless people have lost touch with childhood friends just like Starlight, and they didn't turn crazed into dictators. I honestly think that Starlight's extreme overreactions, warped reasoning, trouble empathizing with others, and paranoia could be signs of her having actual mental health issues that went untreated and made her unable to cope and move on like an emotionally mature and healthy individual would. She might legitimately be not right in the head and in need of some serious psychiatric help. Looking at her from that viewpoint causes a lot of things to make more sense in my opinion.

55:05 I don't think that whole thing with Sunburst leaving and Starlight never contacting him again was a plot hole. The reason why is because the exact same thing basically happened to me. When I was younger my two best friends (they were brothers) moved away because their parents got a new job but since our parents never talked to each other and I didn't have a phone or any concept of how the postal system works they just up and left without giving us an address or anything. I even remember saying we would write each other but when they left I just didn't know how. I kind of blame my parents for that but the thing is *our* address didn't change so my old friends could have easily sent letters to me... but I guess their parents didn't think it was worth the effort. The thing is that when you're a kid you feel so powerless when things like that happen, it makes you want to not make any more friends in case they also move away. Kids are simple like that, emotionally (or at least I was lol). I was actually super shy my whole childhood after this point, not making any lasting friendships all the way up until High School when one of my teachers encouraged me to put in an effort and make some friends during camp (and the two I made are still my bffs even today). That's why I relate to Starlight a lot actually, I basically lived her life.

44:54 It will sound strange, but it's my favorite moment in this chapter the Twilight's speech and when she extends her hoove to Starlight, making peace and at that exact moment, the Rain Boom happens: for me it meant the beginning of this new friendship, although she started out as a villain, well who would say it, that Starlight would end up being a great friend and ally until the end of the MLP seasons? What I loved about Twilight's speech was how she tries to put herself in Starlight's place, even though she doesn't know what it feels like to go through what she went through, and it includes that her friendships are not the only ones that are important to Equestria, but everyone's is. Starlight's backstory doesn't bother me a lot like to many others, I understand that by losing her closest connection with her best friend, she has closed herself off and disappointed in the friendship, with the wrong idea of ​​keeping everyone with equal cutie marks. I can understand her, we all have different situations: after having finished high school, and doing my higher studies at a technical institute without my old friends; it was difficult to have to make friends again, feeling different and I closed myself off, and now I am about to finish in a few months and I never made any new friends

I would have to say it's not quite on the same level as the other three in terms of epic events (Sunset Shimmer - demon vs. elements of harmony; Diamond Tiara - came out of nowhere, CMC got their marks as a result; Starlight Glimmer - time travel, 'nuff said), but I was still really happy to see Gilda come back and get a second chance. Would love to see more of Griffonstone in the future. For that matter, I think I failed to mention it, but I want to see some history on Zecora, where she's from and how she ended up in Equestria.

It's not too big of a deal, but I'm a bit disappointed that they never really referenced the lessons learned from the three mid-season cutie map episodes in the finale. In season 4, the key item episodes played a part in the actual finale events, but in this season, those episodes, though great stories, were just more of less ordinary episodes. It's a minor complaint though, as the finale was awesome enough to stand on its own. And as I mentioned, this it the first time that we've seen a villain make an escape in order to plot and execute revenge, so having that in the back of our minds, along with the two brief Starlight Glimmer cameos in episodes 12 and 22, so we still got some subtle build-up to the finale. I just wish the cutie map episodes were tied together somehow, would've been the icing on the cake.

Hmm, I see what you mean, but I don't think they would have had quite that much power. Remember that Twilight was wielding the power of FOUR Alicorns when fighting Tirek. I suppose it could have ended up being continuous battles between the two though, fought over a period of time. Personally though, my favorite theory is still Ahuizotl and his spell that would bring 800 years of unrelenting heat, which would have destroyed the ecosystem. Without Twilight introducing Dash to Daring Do, Daring Do wouldn't have gotten the help she needed from Dash to stop Ahuizotl from casting that spell.

Applegeek well my guess is they are that powerful considering it probably takes quite some effort to raise the moon/sun via magic since celestia and Luna/Nightmare Moon are the only ones they've shown with that ability. So using that as a basis if they both went all out during that battle I'm sure it'd easily destroy equestria and reduce it to that degree. Although the Ahuizotl one is another possibility

+Yami Bakura But the thing is, as said before, Twilight had both Celestia, Luna, Cadence AND her own magical power combined, and she wasn't able to drill Tirek back into Tartarus when she went full throttle on him. I don't think something power of four alicorns unleashing all of it's power would do less damage than two alicorns fighting. (Though, Twilight also didn't look even a little tired after that fight, so maybe she didn't use all of her power, so I guess headcanons take over from that point)

I would think that Tirek got his desolate land he was aiming for. Ok, Nightmare Moon returns and no bearers to put her down, so she was probably there. Discord was released by a strong fight by the CMC, which wouldn't have happened, but would come back when disharmony grows under the night. Then King Sombra comes about and maybe NM joins if Discord hasn't turned the land upside-down. Wonder if Cerberus would leave at any point during that and Tirek escapes to eat all the magic of the land... Or somepony was extra racist to the Zebras that sparked a war, resources got depleted, megaspells were built, balefire bombs were dropped and all that's left is a whole lot of radio active Wasteland with few survivors looking to trade, kill or eat each other...

Actually when you do see there cutiemarks, it does make sense. Why? Because as it's been explained many a time, a pony once it is created, only has ONE cutiemark. No matter how hard they try to or accidentally try to avoid it, they will always get the same cutiemark over and over again, whether their in a different timeline or not. The reason for this is because it is the pony's destiny, so no matter what happens, they will always end up with the exact same cutiemark whether they like it or not.

On one hand, we can see that the special duality of the CMC's cutie marks is not lost on the residents of Equestria, nor is the fact that they obtained them at the exact same time. Based on the comment about the long-term effects, it makes one wonder what will actually happen to them as they grow older, with them being connected so strongly by their similar marks. Of course, on one hand, I'm now imagining hooking up the CMC to crazy instruments in the castle version of her basement lab in the Golden Oak Library to try to figure out the marks, but on the other hand, I love the fact that this is a matter of great interest to them in terms of magicology (for lack of a better term), and yes, I believe this is foreshadowing of things to come. I just know I'm going to freak out when season 6 arrives and we get our first new CMC-focused episode. ^_^;

In case you didn't know, Pinkie was actually supposed to be Surprise, a white pegasus with a bright yellow mane, an adaptation of a G1 pony. The problem is, Hasbro doesn't actually own the rights to that character, so Lauren Faust was unable to legally use it, so the character got turned into an earth pony and recolored, and became Pinkie Pie.

A few thoughts. I loved how they showed how total war affects everypony, not just the soldiers on the front line, by letting us see the industry supporting the effort. This pretty much confirms that the Wonderbolts are, indeed, Equestria's Air Force. I think the displays they put on are both to keep in practice, and maintain morale. It was great to see the EUP in action. I'm guessing Shining Armour was leading the home guard. Rainbow, Pinkamena and Maud were all awesome in the wartime sequence. A particular tragedy of the war against King Sombra is the fact that Celestia's forces are being forced to fight innocent Crystal Ponies who literally have no choice but to fight for Sombra. Zecora as leader of an anti-changeling resistance fits on so many levels. I love how she accepts that her very existence is a lie, and is willing to die to set things right, even knowing it will mean literally erasing herself from reality. Regarding Applejack as Chrysalis; there's the irony, of course, but I also find there's something about Southern Accents that can be so easily friendly and polite one minute, and sinister and threatening the next. I loved the scene where Starlight is preaching her philosophy to Fluttershy and the bullies, and Twilight is trying to explain that while on the surface, yes, Starlight's ideas are sound, the price might not be worth paying. Respect to the writers for broaching the subject. Gives me some hope for the Post-Millennial generation. As for Starlight herself, still best villain. Her level of preparation was frightening. It makes sense to me that Nightmare Moon would have so many banners of herself, and just due to typical tyrannical egomania. Remember, her entire existence came about because Luna felt she was being ignored. Love the offhoof way she destroyed the Timberwolves, even as they tried to flee. Bucking brutal. All in all, a great finale. I'm still in the air as to whether this or Twilight's Kingdom is my favourite. It's a close race either way.

+DJchilcott Great bunch of thoughts. The Wonderbolts thing was awesome indeed. I remember watching a documentary on the Blue Angels, which is part of the U.S. Navy, and they talked about how the Blue Angels planes were fully functional fighters, and can be prepped and battle ready very quickly in the event of a national emergency. Thus it makes sense that the Wonderbolts practice both for show and to be combat ready if necessary. Oh, also, I didn't even think about the EUP until you mentioned it, but that also makes sense for the world war scenario. The whole thing had a strong WW2 vibe, and like you said, it was great how they showed both the battle lines and also the supply chains and things behind the scenes. It was very well written, and was my favorite of the alternate timelines. Our glimpses into the timelines got shorter as the episode progressed, so it's hard to do fair comparisons of all of them, I'm afraid. Oh, on Nightmare Moon's future, one thing I failed to make note of is that it actually didn't look that bad. Everything looked very organized and neat, no resistance brewing or anything. Of course, we didn't get nearly enough time to explore that timeline, so it's hard to say for sure, but it was a nice twist from the first two with Sombra and Chrysalis. FYI, the reason I freaked out a bit when Spike mentioned Celestia's name is that I thought Nightmare Moon would go berserk just by hearing that name (the phrase "she who shall not be named" flashed through my head, a Harry Potter reference, but I didn't say it out loud), but she took it surprisingly well, I thought.

Honestly I think the Nightmare Moon And Discord alternate Equestria would be the most tolerable to live in. With Nightmare Moon, there was peace and the Ponies seemed content with their reality. With Discord, it might be literal chaos but I think some Ponies like Pinkie could adapt to it and actually enjoy it a bit and plus there probably would not be any food shortages due to food appearing randomly.

The Nightmare Moon timeline is really the best of the ones shown. Sure, Nightmare moon may not be a very nice ruler, but at least she is competent and knows what she is doing. Sure, it may be nighttime all the time, but ponies could adjust, and they also have lights. There is still tourism in this timeline, so there’s probably no big war happening like in Sombras timeline. Discord’s chaos would probably be too much for most ponies, anything could happen like your house suddenly turning into lava or something. So while Nightmare Moon may not be the nicest pony, her timeline seems to be the calmest of them all. (Sombra and celestia are fighting a war, the changelings imprisoned everyone and are taking over the world, Tyrek is destroying everything, the brothers are destroying things, and Discord’s chaos realm could be very dangerous.)

The final episodes where the best. even though some had wished the other villians parts where longer, over time we understand they didnt have time to have all of the villians have a longer part for the other side villians like Tirek, Discord, Flim Flam Brothers. They made Sombra, Queen C, and Nightmare Moon have longer parts out of all the villians because they where the BIG villains in the entire series. So far I was actually excited when i was curious what season 5 finale would be and i swear i had wondered if they ever were going to make a episode relating to the rainboom like "what would happen if it never happened?" and some of the fans on Deviantart had guessed what their cutiemarks and names would be. their names would be somewhat different or mostly their cutiemarks be completely different. [and this was like a year ago when i have wondered and plus saw the fan arts too] im just happy that they finally made that episode even though its different AND BETTER than what we imagined. I also wondered and am also stumped about what twilight ment when talking about the cutiemark crusaders cutiemarks saying "their cutiemarks are yet to be determined". so im guessing theirs MORE to the cutiemarks..? hm. we will have to find out in season 6. Plus I also have a BIG hunch for the next Equestria Girls movie as well about sunset too..

+Awoken Artist Oh yes, theories are burning like wild forest fires, given the epic finale, the EQG cliffhanger, and the long hiatus ahead. I've talked about my own theories in comments on my various videos, will ultimately just have to wait and see though. I understand wanting to see more of each villain's alternate universe, but yes, time was a significant factor. To me, it made perfect sense to focus on Sombra first, because we never really got to see him as an actual established villain. Nightmare Moon was also interesting, because she got taken down before she really had a chance to do any damage, so it was neat to see a sample of what her rule of Equestria would look like. Chrysalis is probably one of the most popular villains, so again, made sense to focus on her for a bit, though that arc actually seemed to focus more on Zecora than on the changelings. Glad they didn't spend too much time on Tirek, since we pretty much already saw him just about reach his final goal anyway (steal all magic and destroy everything) in the season 4 finale. But yeah, there will always be ideas about alternate universes in which the heroes failed to save the day, in any story. What's awesome about this is the fact that the writers wrote some of these alternate universe possibilities right into official canon. It was basically a great big early Christmas present for the fandom, giving everyone a TON of new source material for fan fics and artwork and stuff. Regarding the CMC, Twilight was saying that not much is known about the long-term effects of the simultaneous acquisition of cutie marks. In other words, one could assume that most ponies get their marks by themselves, but when it comes to the Mane 6 and the CMC, the members of those two groups all got their marks at the same time as the other members of each respective group. For the Mane 6, it led to the Elements of Harmony and all the destiny stuff that came along with that. The CMC is even more special though, because not only did the marks appear at the same time, but they have a shared crest symbol, which as far as we know has never happened before. Twilight's point was just that they have no idea why that happened or what it will mean for the CMC in the future. I gotta say, I love how the writers keep circling back around to cutie marks, to show their importance, but also keep adding new twists that keep us guessing on how they really work, and why. Elements (and tree) of harmony, the cutie map pager system, marks that glow when ponies show their truest selves (Diamond Tiara and Coloratura), cutie marks with dual meaning, removal of marks (and talents) via a spell, it just gets more and more interesting. :-)

Regarding the time loop effects on Twilight, it's a matter of great debate about how present versions of people would be affected by changes in the past, and what methods might prevent them from being affected. In all the sci-fi stuff I've seen, I think I've seen just about every possible variation on that theme. Looking at Back to the Future, Marty McFly started fading out of existence as his parents were failing to get together, which is what made me think that Twilight might end up reverting back to a unicorn due to the fact that she never would have become Celestia's student and later transformed into an alicorn. But, that didn't happen. To expand on the comment I made during the first time jump to the past, I was referencing Star Trek: First Contact, in which the Enterprise followed the Borg back through a time vortex to Earth in the pre-Federation time period. Because they were caught in the time vortex, they were unaffected by the changed time stream (i.e. Earth becoming a full Borg planet), even though their sensors were able to detect it. Had they not proceeded to travel completely through the vortex to the past, they would have been erased from the present along with the rest of the Federation. For another angle I thought of but didn't mention, in Stargate: Continuum, when Ba'al went back in time and changed past events, it took some time for the time stream to rewrite itself, so people started vanishing out of existence, while others standing right next to them still knew about them and realized they had vanished. Then when SG-1 (minus Teal'c, because he had vanished) gated back to Earth, the time stream finished its rewrite while they were in the wormhole, thus creating a freak anomaly where they were still themselves from the original timeline, completely unaffected by the changes. Based on those two examples, that's why I said I thought it was actually a good thing that Spike touched the spell scroll and triggered the time jump for him and Twilight, because if they hadn't gone back, it's possible that the changes Starlight made in the past would have caught up with them, leaving nopony at all to fix what she broke. On the other hand, the fact that there's magic involved in this story changes everything, so it's also possible that the Tree of Harmony is responsible for protecting Twilight from the time stream changes. On that note, I liked your comment about the branches of the tree representing all possible outcomes, and the trunk representing the one outcome that brings harmony to the world, very interesting idea.

I don't understand that either because..as Twilight and Spike appeared in the Everfree Forest...there were Pinkie pie and Fluttershy right...but pinkie had her cutiemark so the ballons....how the hell did she still became her cutiemark?..i mean...she never saw the Rainbom and never knew that this would be her destiny..so..yeah why??

My take on the Flim & Flam timeline is that they aren't the actual ones in control there. I'm guessing they're simply in the employ of whoever the true villain is ( likely scheming against them, too, if they remain true to form ). I suspect that this timeline could have been the result of Chrysalis being defeated by other means in the season 2 finale, possibly after a long conflict. Perhaps Celestia died during the Changeling attack, leaving a power vacuum. In the wake of victory over the Changelings, a reactionary pony rose to power - perhaps one that used fear of another Changeling attack to their advantage. They promised to keep the ponies safe from another attack, using fear and paranoia to put themselves in a position of power. Who knows? But ultimately, I don't think Flim & Flam are the true villains there - they're con artists, but not real villain material.

I have a feeling maybe the last timeline could be something to do with Daybreaker, The Parasprites, Midnight Sparkle or Sunset Shimmer Reason I think it could have been midnight sparkle is because we don’t really know what would have happened if sunset wasn’t there to stop her maybe she could have destroyed the human world and then made her way to equestria, same thing goes for sunset we have no idea what she was capable of in her she demon form maybe she had a lot of power enough to destroy equestria. The reason I think it could be daybreaker is because maybe Celestia just snapped and started burning everything and destroying everything, the parasprites might have eaten the ponies and everything else in equestria

Even disturbing episodes of mlp like this one are fun to watch it still had a happy ending though the closet thing to a sad ending the show had was ironically filli vanili when Fluttershy almost gave up singing in public which would have been tragic to deprive the world of her beautiful voice.
