Thank you, for the handy guide my toddler cracked a small part but still sealing. My loving wife with his assistance completely broke it. I took time to clean coils etc. But your video saved me time and bringing tools in. BTW screw calcium build ups... making it hard and brittle. Thank you again for your time and video. I really appreciate not trying to figure out all connections etc. As gear head the auto side let's change every connector or my hd, oh you think you'll do maintenance you'll need metric, standard and hex plus flatblade good luck... 👍

OK! VERY helpful. My filter cover door broke the last time I changed the filter. That is, instead of easily popping out the filter, it got stuck and I . . . ah . . . forced it to open. The little white thing that grabs the filter came off. I thought I'd reinstalled it correctly but I did not. How do I know that I didn't? It did it again. This time, the filter was really stuck. I finally pried it out using a hook used in pick gunk and debris from automobile engines. Now, I need to replace the housing so that things'll work they way they should. I'm so glad I found your vid. It's the exact part I need.

Can a housing be salvaged ? I'm sure its the housing restricting flow on my fridge, but I'm wondering if its just clogged and can be cleaned out ? My fridge is just over 3 years old, seems awfully early to have parts go bad.

Question for anyone that know s, please answer. My home warranty denied fixing the filter housing replacement (broken, water all over kitchen in the middle of the night) because they said it was a maintenance item. I know the filter is maintenence obviously but the housing? Is the filter housing really a "regular maintenence item"?

How can I remove filter without changing the filter housing? The filter door was broken and I can't figure out how to release filter. (FYI, I don't want to change Housing of I don't have to. I plan on purchasing another refrigerator in a month.)

So after replacing my filter housing. You can remove it with the filter in, once its out you will have relieved the water pressure. One shift towards the door latch and it should loosen and slide out.

If the filter is replaced and water doesn't dispense can the housing be defective? I bypassed it and water started dispensing again.

I have the same problem, trying to get a replacement through warranty, but whirlpool is very difficult to get ahold of...
