Saved $300 on parts and labor with this video. Followed it exactly. Thank you guys! I came straight to your channel after I had a similar repair two years ago with the water inlet valve. Unbelievable what even 5-star appliance repair companies will charge for a 10 min job.

Found someone else's video before yours, and was unable to accomplish the task. Their video was half as long, and assumed both that we knew how the tubing connectors worked, and that we had tiny little arms that could go under the fridge to disconnect the tubes rather than pulling the housing out and then disconnecting. Struggled for a while before giving up and finding your video... MUCH better. You actually gave me ALL the information I needed, and did so without talking down to your audience. THANK YOU!

I admit I was a little hesitant to do this job, but your video helped tremendously. It was a very easy job and there were no issues. My Elite Kenmore frig had a little different configuration for the water lines at the pump, but still very easy. It was a 20 minute job, including vacuuming the coils and behind the frig. Thanks!!!

Google told me the solenoid was the reason why no water was coming out. I replaced that. It still didn't work. I pulled the filter out, and it worked! But it leaked all over the floor. I discovered I could replace the filter housing. It was worth a shot. It took about 25 minutes with this video as play by play. Water is now flowing and ice is making.

This is an excellent video. I followed the instructions and my new filter housing was installed in just minutes. It took longer to gather my tools than it did to install the new filter housing. The only caveat I had was with the water valve; my water valve is configured differently with the supply line going directly into the filter housing. I'm very pleased with the results thanks to your video.

We're happy to hear your repair went well! A single part can be compatible with many different appliances. We film the part on a single appliance model to serve as an example of the repair, but there may be slight variations in the process for different models. Thank you for letting us know how it went for your model.

What on earth is the"support arm" supporting? Doesn't look like anything to me. Just a stupid metal wire supporting itself? My fridge is actually missing that part. I found that inspecting the tubes for imperfections and trimming them with a razor blade (just enough to clear the problem) stopped the leak (so far). We'll see tomorrow I guess. Great video, thanks!

Replacing my "water filter housing" replace my water fill from a "slow trickle" to "full flow". At first I thought it was the "water inlet valve" but after changing it the water was still flowing slow. Then you check: line kinks, clogged filter, saddle valve and other things but it turned out the be the "water filter housing". Now my fridge works like the day I bought it. Thanks Once Again

Just replaced mine and your vide was very helpful. I have an external water filter at $10 each versus 30 for internal. But there was an internal leak in the filter housing that looks like it has been slowly going bad for some time. I wanted to upload a picture but that is not an option here. At least they left enough room that allowed for maintenance work.

Thank you for the video. Using a wrench to loosen the hose fittings is a great idea. Unfortunately, my filter housing is in the top of the refrigerator section, but maybe I can find another video to clear the fog on that. So I don't completely destroy the interior...

My leak was coming from the filter housing and filling the drain pan to overflow. I watched a couple of videos on replacing and fixing it and it seemed that minerals in the water could build on the inside of the filter housing where the filter points go in. Instead of replacing the whole thing, or taking it apart to clean it, I took a straw cleaner and used tongs to get it far enough back, and just cleaned the walls of the ports, scrubbing back and forth, to remove any mineral deposits that were keeping the seals from working. I put the old filter cartridge back in and no leaks!

Thanks, this is helpful. I just replaced my water inlet valve using one off your videos and everything worked great! Then l looked way under and saw the filter housing leaking . Question - why is it necessary to disconnect the lines from the back at all? Are they too short to allow the filter housing to be pulled out of the front?
@appliancepartspros7 жыл бұрын
You are right the water line is too short to pull the housing out enough!
@wylapache53625 жыл бұрын
Actually its hard to pull the lines out from the front, you have to fit both your hands in the front housing. One to hold the line the other to push the seal down. Its easier if you disconnect the "water in" line and the line from the "water inlet valve". Then the water filter housing comes out from the front and its easier to work on. Hope that helps. I did mine in 20 mins.

Thank you - I will order with you next time. I suggest you add a bit about what happens if the water lines don't come out easily. I had to pry mine out with jewelry tools (that's what I had on hand :) The small one came out just fine with the wrench, but I had to break the seal and work it down a bit before the wrench would work. @williamsmith9206 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this video but I wish you would of spent more time on the disconnecting of the water lines. It took me a while to figure out how to disconnect them using the 3/8 inch wrench. I would of been helpful if you instructed to push on the plastic connector. I have a Kitchenaide Fridge and the diameter of the connections were smaller and the 3/8 fit right over and didn't work, I had to use a smaller wrench.

Wish I had seen this video first, I had to learn from experience about removing the water lines from the pump in the back. After completing the work, I am having leakage from the bottom (outlet) water line at the housing. The end of the line that goes into the housing does look a bit scarred from the bite of the push connectors, would this cause leakage at the push tabs?
@moonmagnolia7Ай бұрын
Yep. Take the tube out, cut the scarred part off, being sure to cut it smoothly 90 degrees and push it back in tightly, ensuring a firm fit.

I bought this replacement part from you guys because my old one was leaking at the o-rings of the housing. The new one is doing the SAME THING!! It's leaking right where the lines go into the housing. I've tried cutting 1/4" off of the line and re-inserting it and it's still leaking! Did I get a bad water filter housing by chance? What should I do now? I really don't want to call a repairman since I've fixed my fridge many times by replacing my water inlet valve. Fridge is only 10 years old, Model # ED5JHEXTB00

I hope that anyone who has this fridge watches this video first At 3:08 he removes the pipes from the housing, I have this fridge and removed the pipes myself while also removing those small grey plastic pieces they go into that grip the pipes. If you do this you are screwed because they also grip onto tiny gaskets within the housing. Once the grey piece has been removed, unless you have some special tool you're probably not getting them back into the right position.

@appliancepartspros7 жыл бұрын
The first thing to check would be that it's the correct water filter for your refrigerator and that it has been installed correctly. When I look up your model, I get this water filter: www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-filter3-single-edr3rxd1-ap5983563.html. We also have an installation video that you can check out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6GTp4Gjpc11nLc. If your filter came with any instructions to prime it, be sure those have been followed before the filter is installed. After it's installed, purge the line. If that's all done and it's still not working, it could be the water filter head.
@michaelletizia4007 жыл бұрын
Check everything, still no luck. I try four new filters. Are you saying it could be the water filter head of all four new filters or the connecting in the water filter housing?

What it is, is that the water filter housing has a "spring" loaded seal on the back end to seat the filter. If that is lose or one of the water seals are lose either you will have a "leak" or "slow flow trickle" out of your water dispenser. This will fix slow water fills on water dispenser. My fridge had the same issue. $67 for the part, easy DIY.....
