Excellent! That was exactly what I needed. It appears the little bracket that holds the water line on the back of the fridge, is prone to cut the plastic water line. I wrapped electrical tape around mine to keep the bracket from cutting into the waterline. Some sort of a plastic sleeve would be ideal.

Mine was a bit trickier. My part had to be removed from behind, so I had to remove the valve assembly, the metal plate securing the valve assembly, and the drip pan to clear a path for the part to be pulled through the back of the refrigerator. The part I purchased was installed by doing the reverse. Pulling on the valve assembly to get it out of the way did cause a small leak which I was able to repair by reinserting the corresponding hose into the leaking valve. Hope this helps someone who has a similar configuration.

We have a litchenaid and had to do the same thing. To anyone else with the same issue, you do not have to remove the doors. You just unbolt the filter housing, so it can slide back, and you unhook/rehook the line from the back of the fridge. You do need to remove the valve bracket and slide out the drip pan, as was mentioned, but it's an easy fix once you realize it's all done from the back.

Very nice video. Is there a trick to using the 3/8" wrench to release the water line from the filter cartridge? I'm pressing the wrench against, what I think is, the release mechanism on the filter cartridge fitting, but the waterline is stuck. Thanks for the video!

Never mind, I was able to remove the waterline from the filter housing after I put on a latex glove for a better grip on the slick plastic line.

What’s the purpose of putting the sleeve over the connector? To protect it from the water line?

my kitchenaid has a metal frame piece that you totally did not even have once you removed the flimsy little plastic grill housing from the front, appears I have to remove my side by side's DOORS to release those two screws below my filter to pull it forward...

And that clamp is the reason I need a new line since it's what cut into the tubing overtime. Then the fact they stepped up at the connection so you can't just replace it regular 1/4" tubing...

They normally use 1/4 or 5/16th tubing.

AppliancePartsPros Yes, but the used both at the same time on the same hose, which is not normal. 1/4 line with a 5/16th end molded on. So cut the regular line leaving the 5/16th end connected to the filter, use a 1/4-1/4 union on the end you just cut and run your own line back to the valve. New line at 1/20 the cost...

This part is the filter inlet water tube, it connects to the filter, not the ice maker. If you can provide your model number I can see if there is a video for that water line.

@@appliancepartspros thank you ! It’s a whirlpool ED5VHGMT00 made in ‘03. We recently turned the water off at this place the fridge is and when we turned it back on there was ice jammed in the tube up top that goes into the ice maker tray and even after thawing it it never refilled with water however the water does out the door dispenser. Ice still made if we pour it into ice maker. Don’t see a leak or kink in the tube. Have plugged in and out several times. Water won’t fill into ice maker.
