Distinguishing between a floating plastic bag and a heavy projectile like a brick isn’t a matter of sensory equipment, it is a matter of judgement, aka, software. Lidar doesn’t make sense of the data it collects, software does. Adding more data inputs (like cameras) is cheap, but processing more data requires more computing power and more energy, which means hardware must be as fast and energy efficient as possible. The limiting factors are software and hardware, not sensory equipment.

Looking forward to Aptera hitting the road. Even if there is no software aids in driving. That can be upgraded later.

Painful to watch. We expect massive use of old B-roll footage, but not the same clips repeated many times. Speaking of timing, something being described as the future of Aptera is voiced over one of the replays of computer simulated disassembly and reassembly of front hub motors which have no part in the near future of this vehicle. Insinuating that cameras are wasted if not fed into the AI system is way too narrowminded for such an attempt at rational discussion, they've already stated the mirrors will be designed to be easily removed in countries where it's legal to do so, and fully replaced by the multiple rear facing cameras. I don't care if the AI is driving, I will want the best view in every direction that does not drastically impair anything else related to safe driving. And repeating that silliness several times only serves what purpose? Increasing video time in hopes to increase video offers or selections? Please just show one still picture, say your piece, and move on. This video should have been a five minute statement.

0:07. Aptera haven't even shipped a product yet, and they certainly aren't "pushing the boundaries" of autonomous driving. They're struggling on just delivering "driving."

Aptera isn't for whining half wits who can't understand superior engineering. Order an Aptera later when your thick skull allows for a baseline of basic information.

As a company in early stages, it would be very unwise to have any autonomous driving incident, the press would claim the car is unsafe even if some driver was letting the car drive and not paying attention. The insurance ability would suffer along with lawsuits.

I don't want anything that makes it that easy the Hack and crash. It adds cost. I am old school and want to Actually Drive without computer interference.

Aptera's rear facing cameras are NOT linked to Comma AI. They are completely separate. The Comma AI system for Aptera only includes the 2 front facing cameras that come with that option. Would it be possible to integrate the Aptera's cameras into Comma AI? It is likely possible but Aptera has said they are not focusing on autopilot solutions at this time. I have no idea where you got your information but you have not listened to Chris M. at Aptera who previously worked at Comma AI and has be championing the efforts to include options for Comma AI in the Aptera. The is a great example of why computer generated material needs to be verified. Comma AI is a great product and when integrated into Aptera, [could] be an outstanding combination of products BUT we are a very longs ways away from seeing that. Chris M may have done some tests with the Aptera Beta model and Comma AI but that doesn't mean it is ready to be included in production vehicles when they come out. A great deal can change in the year + timeline before we see any production vehicles being driven by customers.

Your thumbnail is misleading. FSD ISNOT the same as comma ais lvl2 driver assist. Processing the huge amounts of data is going require huge computing power along with advanced AI learning ability, plus strategically placed cameras. Please note that current Teslas have 3 front facing cameras, 2 rear below side view mirror cameras PLUS two B pillar side rear facing cameras, plus one rear camera. This all has to be proccesed together as a comprehensive whole, it’s a FAR more comprehensive system the coma AI. Coma ai is very very good at what it does at its price point, but will never achieve the level of comprehensive complexity that a purpose built all in one system like Teslas will. I’ve been driving the latest version of FSD from Tesla, and it’s improved dramatically in just the last 4months, it’s now 98% there, also more importantly it’s actually learning as it goes, iteratively improving day by day. I think Aptera’s ethos dovetails nicely with the simplier more efficient approach that coma AI uses, but it will never have the capability of a true HARDWARE AND AI software, self learning platform like Teslas. But for most people coma Ais approach maybe good enough, at a far more affordable price point. Maybe in some future update Aptera could offer a licensed version of Teslas FSD as an optional upgrade. I would buy it. Please note : I AM planning on doing something I never thought I’d do, that is subscribe to Teslas latest FSD, it’s THAT good right now, and my model Y only has hardware version 3, hardware 5 which supposedly will be released sometime in 2025 is promised to be 15-20x better than HW3.

This video is inaccurate and amounts to non-sense. Aptera will not have FSD or Autopilot on the Launch Edition. There is no plan to include Open Pilot at this time. While this may change in the future, FSD remains very problematic and resulted in a pedestrian death recently.

A far better scenario is for Tesla to acquire Aptera in order to infuse needed cash to bring this EV to market. Weak funding is holding back production. Tesla FSD is far superior to this open source software.

just realize that todays "AI" its just a marketing word, true AI is know as weak AI and strong AI, being the latter escencially a synthetic virtually simulated super brain that surpass human intelligence, and the earlier a similar but less intelligent algorythm that barely reaches human intelect, real intelect, but today's AI still can not fit those descriptions, because the algorythm is made to fake intelligence, generate content from noise and simulate language, which... while impressive its still unable to be considered real intelligence, self conscience requires heavy computational capacity, the neural node array can not simulate the complex relationship of neurons even from a dog brain, more like a very big fungus, and i dont want to be condescending to the work of anyone, but any self driving "AI" its just an automated algorythm destined to fail, of course, under a estimated range of controllable losses, i asure you, the developer of the algorythm would never sleep while his "AI" is driving, because they know it is prone to fail at any time.
