So the rumor was the test screenings did have Black Manta kill Aquaman's son. A large number of People walked out of the screening, so I'm sure that was also part of the reshoot to undo the death, but at that point it sounds like the movie as a whole fails as a concept that it wouldn't have made much of a difference if the child lived or not.

@@A_KZbin_Commenter there was a number of content creators that were following the story at the time. And they reported the same thing. It would make sense that it was the case. That is what Black Manta does in the comics to tear his family part break him his spirit. It would not surprise me that the test screenings did not do well had they included it and people walked out. But hey they fixed it, so you don't have to worry about seeing something unsettling if that bothers you. I'm just over DC and Marvel at this point. I am hoping both will course correct and get back to basics and deliver on good storytelling and compelling character development.

@@twinturboray when you draw a free body diagram you need to account for all applied forces. In this instance gravity is considered for a body underwater. So you are wrong in addition to Other Joe. This is entry level Physics. I think I learned this in Grade 3 or 4.

I'm a toy designer, and when we see our designs up on the big screen we cheer....but with caution. This was one of those times. Successful movies get their toys made. Bad ones don't, so we stay humble until we get a thumbs up to go ahead and produce them. I'd be feeling pretty down after this film because many designs in the movie were awesome.

Nah. They don't play RPGs. They fit the profile, but don't actually do that. It's also pretty rare in Western fantasy. Usually we stick to mythril and obsidian over here. Orichalcum and Adamantite are more common in Japanese IPs.

I think the missed opportunity of this movie was the baby / Chekov's Gun of his powers. I would have like to see Mera Die, Aquaman get this arm cut off and seemly be defeated / overpowered and then be saved by the powers of his son. Even to the point where Orm is redeemed and is interim king. The stakes were just never there and the baby's powers were never paid off for me. Patrick WIlson stole the show for me.

I hate that Batman’s cameo was cut from the movie. Micheal Keaton originally filmed a cameo for Aquaman 2, but after The Flash got rearranged he was replaced with Ben Affleck, then his cameo was cut because the DCU was rebooting. No joke, we could’ve gotten a Batman Beyond movie at some point. That was actually a possibility. James Gunn, please make our dreams come true! 🙏

Forgot to mention how it was only the smallest amount of blood needed to unlock the bad guy so if Manta was smart he would've knocked Arthur's dad out, taken blood from the kid and then leave him there considering he's just gonna make aquaman angry...he could've unleashed the true bad guy and have plenty of spare time if they hadn't involved his kid...dumb villain not thinking things through trope!

They needed global warming to melt ice so they can reach the throne to break the magic. The part that didnt add up is that the anchient minions were released before the spell was broken. They should've used henchment until the spell was broken then have the minions and monster melt all around the unprotected atlantians or something. Also they were wearing wet suits in the sub so they would be ready at moment notice to dive in water....

I’m not sure if the cockroach was supposed to be the beginning and then Aquaman says “this is also good” which was a rotting coconut? Not sure what it was supposed to be. In which Ocean Master says, “I’ll take a bite if you take a bite” and then the scene ends. Which was odd that it happens and then never comes back until The mid credit scene. But that could be the mid credit scene but the post credit scene could have been, like someone has said previously, Aquaman seeing the JL photo one last time and just say, it was one unforgettable ride

The exposition dialog dumps in this were dumb. We get it. If they wanted to explain about the evil brothers, ala War of the Roses, have all that in a pre credits flashback, where the two enemies lock away the trident, and the hero imprisons the necro king, there. Makes way more sense.

I really liked this movie. Patrick Wilson it’s just too likable and I love Randall park in everything. The movie kept me entertained and when I thought his dad died I was legitimately invested. It’s not going to win any Oscars but I’d watch it again solid 6/10 maybe even a 6.5.

At least The MCU had a ton of great movies from Iron Man 1 all the way to Avengers: Endgame and Shang-Chi & the Spidey Trilogy. Post-Shang Chi & Spidey, it's been downhill. Only good DC Cinematic Universe movies were Man of Steel, Wonder Woman 1, Shazam 1 & Aquaman 1.
