Thanks for this lesson! This difference is what i needed to better understand khatra.

Haha, don't be sorry about the bow. It's for educational purposes :D

I did that once while I was out with a bunch of other archers. Boy did I feel silly having the arrow and bow leave my hands :v

HAHAHAHA fantastic how the bow just flew away... ive done that many times with my bow when i forget my sling isnt on. but yea it is NOT khatra. the bow in olympic recurve shooting we have stabalizers that make the bow drop. and we dont hold the bow because you want a clean perfect release .

exactly, thanks for watching (you should have made videos when shooting without sling ;) )

=) i plan on making some shortly

gravety makes the bow drop and some archers use the bow hand release (flick) if you dont direct the force foward yo bow arm would move to the left -stabilizer is mostly use to prevent the bow from rising and shift weight foward
@Stunseed7 жыл бұрын
your arm moving to the left is not a shot compromising motion. thats how you know you did it right. your shot should always look and be natural. your arm dropping to the side like that is a natural movement. youre not forcing any extra movement or exerting any extra force or momentum that your shot process would not expect. purosely moving your arm hand or waving the bow in any direction will just be bad for you and taxing in the long run.

So khatra should be an reaction, but as it is with the follow trough many archers get it to look right by mimicking the hand movement actively . if your shot is not compromised by moving the hand to the left breaking postuter alignment and the barrel , moving the sight and the plunger the arrow kicks out from, it must be compensating for something like arrow spine, grip tongue,plukking,leaning, canting (pressing both scapulai together during expansion )

Armin- you completely misinterpreted and misrepresented my statements.

No, you clearly did not. He said Khatra elements, and that is not the same as Khatra. One could say that Khatra and olympic archery share one element: the forward rotation (although at different "power" levels) Olympic archers use stabilizers to keep the bow in balance with a bit of forward lean. Still, the bow is almost static after the release, but a forward rotation is clearly present. In your video here at 0:53, the bottom limb is in front of the top limb, so please do not compare that shot with what the olympic archers are doing. Small details like that do matter a lot in how the arrow flies. Khatra, although very desirable for speed and paradox reduction, it is not a great asset for consistency, so the olympic technique only uses the elements that do not compromise accuracy, which is what olympic archery is all about. They gave up the side rotation which reduces the paradox, because they have a center-shot bow, fully tuned arrows, and the paradox is not an issue at long distances and with aiming devices. I would advice anyone which is serious about archery to analyse the olympic archery technique in detail, since nothing is left to chance there. Then take away elements from it to improve your technique.

as you wish. I am getting tired

this is what happens when an instinctive shooter tries to explain olympic shooting lol.. but yea it is NOT khatra. the bow in olympic recurve shooting we have stabalizers that make the bow drop DOWN the bow itself jumps forward with momentum from the arrow release.. and without stabilizers would do EXACTLY what happened in the video its hilarious when i forget to put my sling on. . and we dont hold the bow because you want a clean perfect release.. its that simple. khatras objective is to get a faster flying arrow and prolly a technique used in battle or on horseback

It’s like Batman versus Superman. Batman is only a hero because of his fancy gadgets, but Superman is a hero all on his own. Same with Olympic versus Traditional.
