Five Types of Women You’ll Find in Thailand When Thai women are mentioned, it’s fair to say that most people immediately think of two different types; the ‘bar girls’ and the ‘normal girls’. In our experience, there are actually five different types of Thai women that you’ll find in the country. If you want to date a woman in Thailand, we think it’s important to understand the differences between them. With this in mind, allow us to break them down below! 1. Bar Girls Since bar girls seem to get the most attention, allow us to explain these women first. If you’ve been on a few nights out in Thailand, we can almost guarantee that you’ve bumped into a few bar girls. In Pattaya, Bangkok, and other big cities, you’re likely to come across bar girls often. Raised in poor families, normally in Isaan (northeast Thailand), they see their work in clubs and bars as a serious job. Whenever they earn money, some go towards their education and lifestyle while the rest tends to go home to their family. Unfortunately, their poor reputation comes from their desire to earn money. Since they earn more on this scene than they ever could in a day job, they’re very rarely willing to forgo this lifestyle for a Western man. If you fall for a bar girl, make sure she is genuine with her intent, learn more about her, and assess whether or not she will change her profession for you. Bar girls have broken many a Western heart, so don’t give everything away so easily. 2. Traditional Girls On the other hand, people normally think about traditional Thai girls as ‘regular’ or ‘normal’. Many work long hours in their day job, they don’t socialize in clubs and bars all too much, and the majority haven’t yet dated a foreign guy. Unlike what you may have experienced at home, Thai women don’t like casual dating. If you’re a few dates in, they will probably see you as their boyfriend already. Traditional Thai women, take marriage and love very seriously; they believe in giving their all to their man. Additionally, they have strong values for: Traditional beliefs Meeting your/her family Religion Children Most Western men, find themselves in conversations about marriage within a year. If you aren’t interested and aren’t serious, we highly recommend breaking up before breaking her heart later down the line. As you may know, traditional Thai women are shy and conservative in nature. They rarely have tattoos and piercings, they don’t wear too much makeup, and only an emergency will see them ask for money. In fact, most traditional Thai women prefer to save money, and this will help you find cheap hotels, food, salons, shopping malls, etc. This all sounds great, but we should inform you of one drawback; their ability with the English language. If you find a girl that doesn’t speak much English, you can be certain that she’s trying to learn. As long as you’re both making an effort to communicate, love will conquer everything. 3. Thai Gold Diggers We mentioned the way that bar girls like to earn money, but this is nothing compared to the gold diggers of Thailand. That’s right, some women will go to clubs every night dressed up in expensive clothing with expensive gadgets, handbags, and shoes, and they could even have tattoos. Either way, they look for rich men who will buy them gifts and supplement their expensive lifestyle. While some are happy to stick with one sugar daddy, others will seek multiple sugar daddies, so be careful (we assume you want to avoid this type of woman!). Many Thai gold diggers, they’re happy to keep partying until the sun comes up. Most of the time, they don’t care if you’re talking with other girls because they’re doing exactly the same. If you choose a gold digger, they will be demanding, they will ask for gifts, and they will prefer material things over your time. Here are some tips for recognizing a gold digger: She’s always asking for material items and for you to spend money She always seems to prefer fancy restaurants and experiences (rather than just a night in together) She’s direct in asking for money Of course, we aren’t saying that any girl asking for money is a gold digger. But there’s a difference between running into money problems (and feeling awkward asking for help) and simply asking for you to fund their life. 4. Liberated Thai Girls For us, a liberated Thai girl is a traditional Thai girl who has been able to break free from shyness. They’re accustomed to Western attitudes and men, they like adventure, and they’re generally very good fun. Unlike the gold diggers, liberated Thai girls are independent and they won’t be looking for a man with money. Instead, they’re genuinely interested in finding somebody to love. Good with the English language, these women will have careers and huge aspirations for the future. Before settling down with a family, they will have goals. Thanks to their middle-class families, most have been to a big university and are now putting these skills to good use. Some liberated Thai girls have even spent time abroad which means an ability to speak various languages. You might speak to somebody who has traveled to Japan, Spain, France, or maybe even the UK. With this in mind, they have a passport and will have a hobby to go alongside their busy working week. For example, this could be painting, blogging, surfing, playing an instrument, or dancing. Just like in the West, you need to find a woman who suits your desires whether you want a casual fling or a long-term relationship. Fortunately, these girls love new experiences, and this can be great fun. Since they’re independent in nature, they will pay for their own drinks on a night out and may actually be against the traditional Western chivalrous approach (only if you take it too far; everybody loves a gentleman with good manners!). 5. High Society Thai Girls Finally, we come to the high-society Thai women and these normally have wealthy parents or come from a wealthy family. In truth, it’s another life entirely for those who don’t socialize in these circles. For this reason, you won’t often find them in a typical bar, restaurant, or club. They like to frequent fashion shows, exclusive restaurants, and events with a high reputation. If you don’t have the sort of money they are used to with their family, it’s hard to compete with those who do. If you do have some money, there’s no reason why you can’t start dating a high-society Thai girl. Verdict Which girl has taken your attention from this guide alone? For us, it’s important to avoid gold diggers and be careful with bar girls. If you have the money, maybe a high-society Thai girl is for you. If not, you have the traditional and liberated Thai girls. While one is conservative, respectful, and extremely loyal, the other is independent, fun, well-traveled, and/or educated! We spent two years talking on the phone via LINE due to the pandemic. Finally, when Thailand opened up without restrictions, that’s when I went to see her twice in 2023. The first visit was awesome, however, after I got back to the states, she became very jealous and suspicious. I never cheated on her but her insecurities made her start arguments for no reason. In November 2023, I went to Thailand again and everything was great. I came back home, the jealousy and suspicion returned. A few days after my return, she started an argument and that’s when I broke it off with her. I don’t date jealous women and I don’t like to argue. There are tons of single gorgeous Thai women to choose from. Don’t settle!

Can confirm after dating a Thai and visiting numerous times. Now this does not mean all Thai women are nice just like not all Western women are nasty! But overall majority of Asian women will make sure you are happy, cook and clean and even though they don't have a lot of money, they will still buy things and pay for you. They are taught to look after their partner just as us men should look after them! Can't wait to go back again!

I visited Thailand for the first time in 2017. Since then I go three to four times per year and I plan to retire there soon. Ever since I discovered this amazing country I have never dated a single woman in America again. I've had the honor of dating very attractive, professional, successful and above all FIT and down to earth Thai woman. I dated a lawyer, dentist and several business woman. In America finding a woman in my age group with all these attributes is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Why do people act like American men dating and marrying women from other countries is something new? This has been going on in the military for many decades. I have been doing it for more than 20 years. Yes women in foreign countries already possess traditional values even until today. Unfortunately something that is not valued as much in America anymore. Many men think they are instantly going to find a "good woman" once they get to another country, but are disappointed because they are looking in the wrong place and at the wrong woman. I personally believe that there are many better women outside of the "west" that will be outstanding life partners, no matter what country they are from. All it takes is a little common sense and careful choices in knowing what you want.

It’s ok. About not liking pad Thai. I don’t like it either. I only like when my aunt makes it. No one else can make it better. Not even my mom’s. Still love ❤ my family use to own a Thai restaurant and my aunt specialty is pad thai and thai desserts. My mom was everything else. Also, my boo told me he said he was looking a Thai woman. Luckily. I am Thai but western born. But I still have the same priorities like most Thai women cause I was raised like Thai traditions. Plus Thai women listen… we remember what you talk about wanting or wanting to try. We find ways to get it. First date, I paid for movies and popcorn. He said no girls ever done that for him. So I think I was a keeper lol 14 years later 🤣😍

I have the same treatment with my neighbors in the U.S. they are from Thailand.. the women will cook and incite me over, then the next day we always got to a Asian restaurant,. Everytime I try to pay with appreciation, the whole family be coming after me .I got to pay for our meals before we get there otherwise the mother will rant..she likes to pay for everything I get and more to bring home... enjoy Thailand

I've been living in Thailand for awhile now. Married a Thai-American lady nearly 20 years ago (currently separated). I think these type of KZbin channels appease to a particular audience--like everything does nowadays. Thai women are great...the same as any other country. You will find good ladies as well as not so good, but to campaign that Thai ladies are the cream of the crop in regards to the perfect prototype is asinine. There are pros & cons to every society as it pertains to one's subjectivity.

I appreciate your reasonable comment about men going overseas JUST to find a women. My plan to retire early in either Thailand, Philippines, etc is to get out of the working rat race. Been in my career for 16 years at this point so Im stacking retirement/pension and can sell my condo and car in about 10 years to hold me down until social security kicks in. If a good woman comes along that is a bonus. I dont want to be a corporate slave the rest of my life which is my priority if I decide to retire in another country. I just got back from Pataya, Chimbury and Phuket. the food and the service was out of this world and both men and woman are so polite with their service. One thing I have to get use to and miss from the service is Thai's putting their hands together and bowing to you with their eyes directly looking at you showing they value the foreigners. Not saying these people have it together just saying how they do customer svc. Disney and other huge company pay a lot to train their employees to give world class svc but in Thailand it's just their culture. Thailand and the people are amazing. This girl of yours seems real and down to earth. You would be a fool to let her go. Only thing I would say is that you need to ask and maybe look at their ID for their real age because they look 3-5-7 years younger than their actual age which is good as long as they are legal as an adult dating a young girl. Good luck with your adventure and with your girlfriend.

Great Video! Thai women are definitely different! When I visited they took care of me and I didn't ask. They prepared my food at restaurants, offered to pay, bought drinks, etc. When you find that good one you really have to cherish her and appreciate her, I can't wait to return out there and spend much longer time out there!
