The easiest way to remember about Spain during WW1 is because of what we called the Spanish Flu. The name doesn't come because the epidemic originated in Spain but because the countries involved into WW1 didn't announce their own cases because they didn't want the enemy to know at what extent they were affected. But Spain was a neutral country during WW1 so this information was not "classified". So many people from that time were inducted to think that the situation was worse in Spain than anywhere else, and that's why the disease was eventually called Spanish Flu.

Hello, the Philippines was not a "colony" of Spain because Spanish didn’t have colonies, they had Viceroyalties, they’re two different forms of government. The Philippines was part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain that encompassed what is now Mexico and almost all the Caribbean countries, part of the USA, part of southern Canada and the Philippine, Mariana and Caroline Islands. Maybe that's why they use pesos the same as in Mexico. This is just so you know that there is an important difference and it’s incorrect to use “colonies” to refer to Spain 😊
@Adrian42392 жыл бұрын
that's wrong!
@camposdefresa172 жыл бұрын
The fact that its form of government was a Viceroyalty doesn't remove the fact that it was a Spanish colony. Especially if you take into account that the name "colony" comes from Cristobal Colombus (Colón in Spanish) and it only refers to a country or a territory being political and economically dependent to the main country. So, of course, it was a colony and its form of government is something that should not be taken into account to determine that. Thank you
@camposdefresa172 жыл бұрын
@Olsjaz2 жыл бұрын
@camposdefresa172 жыл бұрын
@@AV-we6wo The "weirdos" that have won more Nobel prizes than any country in Europe? Must be why the US has lagged behind in scientific innovation and that its economy is so small. I'm confused as to why it has over half of the world's top 100 universities.

Andrea should do the exercise of naming the Autonomous Communities and Provinces of Spain on a map, as Cristina and Shannon did in another video called "Can American Name ALL 50 States of the U.S?",
@BlackHoleSpain2 жыл бұрын
There are only 17. However Spain *also* has 50 provinces... that should be harder and matches the US map difficulty.

This is what happens when you live in a country with more than 3000 years of history. You can't remember everything. In addition, we Spaniards have more important things to remember from those years, much more important than a war in which we did not participate. In America they only have to remember a few hundred years.
