Are Big Cups Of Keurig Coffee Really That Bad? A Visual Representation Of K-Cup Coffee

Lots of people like bold coffee that's strong and others like it a bit weaker but even if you like your coffee a bit on the weak side I wanted to make this video to show you what those last few ounces of coffee coming out of your Keurig or K-Cup coffee maker actually look like.
In the video I suggest that you try this experiment yourself at home one day... for the fun of it. If you do try this then make sure to taste all the little cups; I guarantee you that as you start tasting the last bit of coffee coming out you'll want to gag a bit. The first few ounces may be a bit strong for your liking but the last bit tastes horrendous.

It's like a simple coffee cupping or wine tasting! lol It's amazing to taste the difference in the different segments of the brew. They all taste noticeably different.

You kind of went to the extreme of 12 oz, when you typically use the 6 oz setting. I do 8 oz on the strong setting, and I think it's good. I'm not exactly a coffee connoisseur, though. I figure, a full-on coffee snob isn't using a Keurig (maybe with the reusable filter and freshly ground beans, but not the pods). Keurig coffee makers are about quickly getting a passable cup of coffee with minimal effort. I wonder if Keurig will introduce a double k-cup (not Duo) for people filling their travel cups.

Yeah, I never brew 12oz kcups myself but I've gotten a number of comments from others that do so I think it's good to show viewers what those last few ounces of coffee actually look like when they come out. I didn't taste them on video but I did off video and the last few ounces on their own tasted sooo bad, like terrible! I know most people that use Keurig aren't coffee snobs but if someone were to actually try this test at home maybe they'd think twice about using the 10 or 12 ounce setting. A double pod would be cool, since the My K-Cup is so big you would think they could do this but who knows if they ever will.

I like the second and 3rd ounce strength. Unfortunately I had to toss my keurig in order to have enough strength.

I grew up in the 1950's on coffee that was extremely light and watered down. I am very used to it. The 12 oz setting works just fine for me. I do realize that I am a tad unusual however.😉

In reference to the video concerning the MY K-CUP brewing two cups in a short period of time, without having to stop, clean and reload the reusable filter. If you have a one hole MY K-CUP, with the removable adapter piece, you just load it and the five hole one with coffee. After brewing with the five hole, simply swap the five hole top piece to the one hole MY K-CUP. I recently upgraded a Keurig brewer, that looks like the one in this video, which came with a one hole MY K-CUP reusable filter, to a K-Supreme. I purchased a five hole MY K-CUP. The tops are interchangeable.

There are a bunch of specialty k-cups that have different flavors, hot chocolate is a common one.

I’m curious if you use the strong button which my Elite has, how better would it be?

That was with the Strong button; for the video I put the brew on 300% speed but in real time it was a full minute of brew time on the K-Select using the strong button. The K-Supreme plus has the longest grind to water contact time so that might be slightly different but probably not a huge difference; there's just not enough coffee in the pods. I'll be releasing some videos on the K-Elite in the coming week, probably not on this but I'll try to weigh in somehow on this in one of those videos at least.

@@TopOffMyCoffee could you actually try this test with the supreme plus i would appreciate it alot, i have one and ive been wondering if the level 3 vs the lvl 1 makes a difference. I guess i could just test it myself but i think it would be an interesting video just to show if these newer machines are actually improving.

Does this video also apply if a person is using a reusable filter on strong for larger cup size ?

It does but the result won't be so dramatic if you were to use 18 grams of grind in a reusable k-cup. I can brew a 10oz cup with the My K-Cup and I think it tastes just fine but I can't do that with a regular pre-packaged k-cup.

I'm curious... Isn't this how regular coffee is made in a pot? That is the first bit is watery, then it becomes super strong and dark, and then lightens towards the end. You put it all together in a pot, and no one notices. It's just coffee. Here, I think the Keurig is doing the same: Putting it all together and it's just coffee.
