For those who are slamming Mandon for wanting "a partner who can cook". Did you not watch the video and listen to what he said? He emphasises the words appreciation and process. This fella is into the science of cooking, the art of cooking. Things like temperature control, time, the techniques, etc. The process. He is a real connoisseur, a real appreciator of food in this very in-depth way. Now ask yourself how many women are like that? Especially Singaporean women these days. How many actually give a damn as he does for food? How many Singaporean women get into cooking seriously? Not just following a recipe online for a 6-hour bakeoff. Real cooking, real eating. Cooking every day is not a once in a while 6-hour bakeoff. So who? Which girl in SG is like that? His life is cooking, food. Of course, an ideal partner for him would be somehow similar. Someone who can appreciate him is someone who knows food...if not, Mandon has no value to a partner. That's just it.

it's a nice gesture when someone genuinely wants to help you out in the kitchen, maybe pass them the easier stuff or throw in a few quick skills for them to pick up too!

Props to Sonia for really saving this podcast. Should just switch the title to "Mandon's Food Story". But then again he haven't been attached yet so can't expect him to share a cooking story between him and his partner

HMM. Having an opinion it's very important no matter what gender you are. But do it with empathy. You can use the world's most flowery words but it will not impact anyone's life. It's like a dish served without salt. Looks nice but taste blend & will turn people away.. "words salted with grace"

I envy people who know how to cook! I can't learn when someone is next to me, telling me what should not/should I do. My plan is to learn cooking (simple dishes) when I get my own home.

Damn sounds like I'm meant for the single life. It is no wonder my previous few relationships didn't last long. I think my personality and interests makes me more suitable as a single with just female casual friends instead. So far all has been well and much more enjoyable this way and after watching this video it seems to have enlighten me more.

No he don't. Women talk freely about thier standards, preference and expectations of or from men and most women do it in a very misandrist and degrading way. Men should have the right to talk about their standards, preferences and expectations from women too.
@noitulive2 жыл бұрын
@@sayeeed1303... sooooo when SOME women do it in their misandrist and degrading manners, men should follow suit? I mean really, do we even need to go low to match 'others'? Just an example, when someone has no experience in driving, how would this person be a reliable source of information for how fun driving can be? Mandon is interviewed for a piece that he has no experience in. If he was interviewed about cooking or kitchen utensils, I'm sure he would be very credible... but he is on a talk show, talking about a subject that he only has imaginations, or assumed standards and expectations about... and that is relevant because we are all about pandering to full fledged imaginations of real life matters, with no discernment that the discussions come from the ramblings of someone who knows little to nothing... Men should have standards. It's not hard.

To me, in my opinion and as a woman, we SHOULD know how to cook. Something that’s never gonna change my mind no matter how times change. I’d be more forgiving to those who literally can’t cook no matter what kind of instructions they follow (which means they purely just really can’t cook) or that they really cause accidents in the kitchen. That’s an exception to me. It’s a bit of a traditional mindset given that I’m a millennial but hey, there are some things that don’t always need to be changed as time goes.

Agreed. Can't stand people esp ladies who don't even try to cook basic things. To me it really says a lot about their character 😅

@@ezzatisaid yes and it’s kinda a boomer behavior but I throw shade to ladies who don’t cook (unless they really tried and just can’t do it like I mentioned in my comment). Hahahah! And I do agree about the character part!

For me it's more about why you can't cook. If you can't cook because you're not interested, you're ok with eating outside food or not enough time or nobody good enough around to teach you etc, it's ok for either gender. But if girls purposely don't cook because they think cooking is submissive, or they think cooking is the job of the guys now(in addition to $$$) then is a big no. You cannot say you don't cook cause you're empowered or free to make your own choice then demand your boyfriend to cook because he is a man. Whenever I watch related videos on "should guys do this or that". The most important thing to me is what does the girl offer back? It does not have to be the same thing, but I cannot stand people that demand XXX(money, cooking, car) from a guy then in return offer nothing. No offense but @)?& off.

lemme just say that sonia looks straight fire in that outfit! omgerds!!! and most asian households they use a oven as a storage for pots and pans lol and me as an caucasian american always cringes at that... but i will say this about women cooking... there is a reason why they are more men as chefs then females... males arent affected emotionally under pressure as much then females.. i feel that females are more prone for that which is understandable... and i hope females dont think im being sexist about it its just they are more in touch with their emotions then males in general... which may not be the best thing in the kitchen when it becomes stressful... but home cooked meals in general will 9/10 times be better by a female... we all love grandma's cooking!!! with out the added stress n pressure it just becomes a staple in every kid growing up

Societal pressure for Singaporean women to actually do something? Of course not. That would be patriarchy and tyranny! Men needing to 'man' up and do NS? That's their job.
