Yes: continuous up and down motion. No: continuous side to side motion. Ok: soft and slow up and down motion. That's it: lifting and bringing head down with a jerk. Let's see: short and singular movement towards one side but with a bit of a jerk. I don't know: tilting of head towards one side with rolled lower lips and lifted shoulders. I'm enjoying: continuous motion towards only one side with a smile to the side of the head bobble (like a smirk). [IN MOST CASES]

The head wobbling differs from state to state. Even from district to district. My husband's home is located in another district of Kerala. Which is 60km away. When they see some familiar person or say bye they used to wobble the head like- chin comes to the chest. Initially after marriage once my mom in law wobbled to me like that, I thought she meant"come here" & I went 😂. Later I recognized she was saying bye

@Khushi Bidhuri But there is nowhere written we have 33 million gods. We have 3 major diety Brahma vishnu and mahesh and all others are part of them like Shri ram and shri krishna are avatar of vishnu etc. If you have noticed that we worship nature as a devta like surya dev agni dev etc. Yes you are right hinduism was not even religion before kalyuga. Actually if you go deep you will find that everything is very scientific for eg that 9 avataar of vishnu represents darwin theory of human evolution. Rishis were scientists and doctors of that time. They were very developed. Hinduism promotes moksha. There are many types. Like you can believe in god but you do not prefer idol worshipping then you are nirgun Brahman (here brahman does not refere any cast) . You dont believe in god then you can be atheist hindu. Many rishis in olden times were atheist. Actually there is freedom of opinions in Hinduism unlike other religions. But we definitely don't have 33 million gods. No one can name them. That is biggest misconceptions people use to defame our religion.

I noticed some people doing the head movement tilting rapidly left and right, some people doing it more emphatically than others. At first when I only saw my manager do it, I thought it was some kind of medical condition or motor disorder he couldn't control. Then I noticed others in the office doing it and I was really confused!! I think I would have realized it was meant to be communication except that they did it while talking, without stopping. And not in response to a question. Omg, as soon as this popped up in my recommendations, I knew EXACTLY what it was talking about!! I'm glad to learn that this is part of the culture and not some kind of palsy or something, lol. I won't be confused anymore.

I'm not indian. Don't live in india But my country multiracial I grown up watching indian movies I do realize they're bobbing their heads but until Someone point out Because I'm used to it. I do understand all the head bobbing gesture and sometimes i even speak with indian slangs. Most of Indian in my country are tamil.

I was talking to an Indian guy from Fiji once (they are 38% of the population there), and he said that Indians from Fiji don't do the bobble head.
@albertbatfinder52405 жыл бұрын
But does it have a name, in Hindi or Bengali or whatever? Did I miss it? Also, is the bobble used across the subcontinent? And by people of different classes? So many questions.
