OH MY GOSH, THIS IS A THING!! I'm your garden variety white person in America, and 6 months ago I started working in an office that is easily 90% people from India. I noticed some people doing the head movement tilting rapidly left and right, some people doing it more emphatically than others. At first when I only saw my manager do it, I thought it was some kind of medical condition or motor disorder he couldn't control. Then I noticed others in the office doing it and I was really confused!! I think I would have realized it was meant to be communication except that they did it while talking, without stopping. And not in response to a question. Omg, as soon as this popped up in my recommendations, I knew EXACTLY what it was talking about!! I'm glad to learn that this is part of the culture and not some kind of palsy or something, lol. I won't be confused anymore.
