@@Jane_Doe-f2d Think back to the BD vs. HD-DVD war. Samsung sold the player for $200 and the HD-DVD movies for $30 (or was it $39.99? 4K BDs definitely came out at $39.99). Sony sold the PS3 for $500 and the BD movies for $10. Everyone bought the PS3, the war was over, Samsung lost, Samsung CEO apologized, and the price of BDs immediately shot up to $30. Same thing will probably happen with digital download only games.

Meanwhile the alternative was buying a $500 console and the $200 HD-DVD drive for Xbox 360 (and you thought the $80 UHD drive for PS5 was beyond the pale?). What sealed it for Blu-ray was the cheaper manufacturing, the superior picture quality, and the superior interface used for Blu-Ray over what was used for HD-DVD. Oh and Blu-rays didn't become gradually unwatchable plastic frisbees like HD-DVDs did.

This is very much still the PS4 generation. They are still putting games out for the PS4 and half of the PS5's game library is PS4 remasters. The PS5 will go down as the missed console generation. The PS5 is just the PS4 super pro.

All I remember about the Horizon games is the terrible release dates. First one released alongside Zelda BOTW the game of the year and got completely overshadowed and left behind, second one released alongside another cultural phenomenon Elden Ring also game of the year and got left behind as well. 😂

I’m exhausted with Remakes and remasters. Have we really come to a point in time where we’re running out of ideas to continue a legacy of great games that have never been made just to keep trailing backwards into the past of classics. Don’t get me wrong… the resident evil saga has been lovely (even RE3) and I’m sure silent hill 2 will be great. But more recent titles within the last 5 to 6 years being remade and remastered again… Preposterous! Every remastered is Remarkably Remastered and Mastered by the Masters of making/remaking those remasters.

Brilliantly stated, companies are morally and creatively bankrupt due to the individuals that are plagued within these orginizations. I don't expect it to get any better unless it crumbles or borderline does, and something new and better is born out of the rubble of the current disaster known as current gen gaming. I have bought tons of games all of my life and I'm 40. This year I've probably purchased 4 games maybe, and I normally buy 20 - 50 games a year. I hate this generation of gaming.

Nintendo had a valid reason to re-release Wii-U games on the switch, the Wii-U sold poorly. The PS4… did not. If we want to see like for like, it’d be like if Sony remastered some older PSP or legacy PSvita games to make them more accessible for fans, and new players alike. Sony needs *new* games to justify the PS5 Pro, hence ‘let’s rerelease 5 year old games to incentive our fans to upgrade’. Nintendo wins because they appreciate (financially, not morally) fans, old and new. Sony seems so stagnant as of late, no incentive to expand their consumer fanbase. A like for like would be the 3DS port of bowsers inside story - a game which could still be played natively on the 3DS through backwards compatibility - and guess what, it was one of the worst selling Mario games to date.

Typical Sony fanboy. Nintendo did do a lot of remasters or re-releases but they also have too many brand new games to justify it. Nintendo released about 20-30 first party games in its first 4 years. The ps5 has only released 4 first party games that could only be played on the console. Everything else can be played on the ps4.

I just played through and finished Metal Gear Solid Rising Revengerence- which pushed the PS3 limit and segwayed the hardware into the PS4 era. THAT game needs a remaster with new content for the PS5 and current gen!

I have all the content on my PS3, and my PS3 is overclocked. I'm happy with the FPS, you can tell that the environment models (like cars and building) in the background weren't really detailed. All the polygons are used on those character models!

Remasters are easy to do they dont take a lot of time and you and use it as a reason to increase the price of an old game, that is the reason for all these remasters.

I guess it’s only bad if Sony does it. Nintendo has been doing it for the entirety of the switch generation but I never see videos of mr rgt complaining about that? I guess he will be happy when they release windwaker/twilight princess/galaxy 2 for 60$ a piece

All these remasters from the best pusched out from the PS4 catalogue is a warning in my eyes ....I think Sony soon gonna withdrawal the backwards compatibility to PS4:s physical discs ... gonna do everything they can to grab peoples money since 1 the had to shut down the woke Concord and lost all investment in that and 2 , they just don't have the people in the studios longer like back in the days that actually had the passion for storytelling, creativity etc etc without political agendas and greed , they are lost and out of touch just like the movie industry... Last gens games on a new box with the label Ps5 , and withdrawal of the backwards compatibility is going to happend ...mark my words...
