You've heard it a millions times - "Expats are mostly broken down old losers!" But is this true? Who says this, why do they say it, and exactly what do they mean? Come with me as I give you my opinion on the expat population here in the Philippines, and what we can do about the way we see these men......

Married my Filipina angel when I was 22 and she 21. Fast forward 35 wonderful years, 3 daughters, and 8 beautiful grandchildren. I get the dirty old my looks frequently when we are at restaurants, shopping, or at weekend getaways. She’s 55! I’m 56! I’ve seen men stop dead in their tracks when we’re out and she’s dressed to kill (18-80). My daughters hate this when it happens, lol, and ask why I don’t get angry. I try to make them understand the pride I feel and knowing that I’m the only man she’s interested in. Am I a dirty old man? Hell yes, until the day I die but only for my Filipina Beauty.

When I was 26 I knew a 53-year old man who was seeing a 22-year old woman. I wasn't "jealous," I just thought he was a "dirty old man" being inappropriate for his age, and that she was messed in the head. Now that I'm 50, I know it's none of my business to judge who is attracted to whom.

I'm a "Dirty Old Man" who married a gal from the Philippines. The driving for mainly was that I was fifty and did not have any children, which I kinda wanted to experience. Worked out fine, have a couple beautiful daughters, wife went to college and became an LVN, no regrets on my side and she does pretty much whatever she wants, when she wants. She just came back after a month or so visiting family. I would like to live in the Philippines myself, but I doubt that is going to happen.

Your observations, experiences, logic, and conclusions are spot on, Pea. I have never felt so loved as I feel from my soon to be wife here. Her children think of me as their father, never knowing the abandonment of their biological father. They give meaning to my life. I will be able to lift them from poverty, provide access to health care, a quality education, and the ability to choose a future based on their choice rather than survival. My wife will be able to function at a higher level as well. I'm a fortunate man.

Nailed it! Mic drop! My Filipino wife and I were constantly hammered in the US and she’s only a few years younger. It’s still very much a race issue in the US. After a failed marriage to a entitled self absorbed American woman I looked elsewhere. Color, ethnicity, age, education, were all off the list. Kind, loving, devoted, family values, and being content with life were on the list. Filipino women have bucket loads of my preferred attributes and indeed I found one. Don’t ever settle for a sub par companion, ever think that’s why it’s so hard to bring your Filipino fiancé or wife into the US. The American women know what they are, they don’t want a kind loving family man they want a subservient eunuch.

That’s funny you say that. When I was 24 I dated a 34-year-old woman for a while. Then when I was 34 I married a 34-year-old woman for about 13 years. Then when I was 50 I met and eventually married another 34-year-old woman. Close enough in the numbers. She’s 18 years younger than me. It’s really hard to say that I don’t have an age preference when I’ve only ever met women when they were of that age. I never planned it that way, just work out that way.

I began dating my Chinese wife in college. One day my " friend " told me " you can do better than that. You should date a white girl " . My friend and I are both in our 60s now. He has been married 3 times with kids from each woman . My own brother has been married 4 times to white American women and has kids from each marriage and countless step kids. Both are divorced now and alone , living in apartments. I have been married to my Chinese wife for almost 40 yrs . We have one beautiful successful daughter . We have owned 3 houses and have a retirement savings. My wife is a retired teacher and counselor. English is her second language. My friends and brothers wifes never worked a day in their life. Can hardly imagine any other reason than pure envy and jealousy! The younger men feel incensed that the older men are competition for them and deminishing their own chances and opportunities for finding a suitable companion. What these young losers need to learn is to not try and get women to feel a certain way about them, but rather take the focus off themselves and learn how to make a woman feel about HERSELF! If he can get her to feel good about HERSELF, he can and WILL conquer her heart! Likewise, Asian girls also make western men feel good about themselves and this is where western women fall short. The white women feel offended that these men should overlook them and not consider them a suitable option. 99% of white women are for some obscure reason believing they are a queen and that all men will fall for them. When the men don't fall for them, they feel all offended and self-righteous indignation sets in that causes them to call these men all sorts of names and accuse them of all sorts of things. Let them hate and envy! Let them throw tantrums from morning to evening! Let them sulk as they languish in their own miserableness!

To be honest, when I moved to the Philippines, I didn't even think about finding a local girlfriend. I just got out of a marriage I was very unhappy in, and she got everything in the divorce. I had an online business and my clothes, basically. I needed to live somewhere cheap, and I heard Philippines was cheap. I moved to the Philippines, and it was supposed to be temporary. I just happened to meet my current wife while I was living there, and she literally brought me back to life. I just didn't care about much of anything, just living day to day. Thank you , thank you , thank you. I got into a argument with my once friends widow, she was getting pissed at a stranger on FB for talking about going to the Est to meet a woman who really wants a relationship. She started calling him a pervert and dirty old man and pedophile. I tried to explain to her that she was wrong and knows nothing about this situation. She and my friend were married for almost 40 years and he passed away 3 years ago. She is very opinionated and way to out spoken, even mouthy and does not remember what it is like to act like a lady. She says ever guy that goes over seas in a pedophile and the girls are gold diggers. I told her I have 4 friends who have met women from Thailand, Philippines and Korea, three moved back with their brides and well over a decade each with them and still happy, the other stayed in her country and still going strong. I constantly think it would be better off to jump on a plane and meet a nice kind caring friendly girl/woman who can respect their man and they can both enhance each others lives. Here in the west women get a attitude that they do not need a man and have no intention of any compromise in a relationship. They are trying to make men submissive and not playing the role of men any longer. We are not all wanting that. But to find the right person and build and enjoy what time we have on this planet. All relationships are give and take for both sides, that is what will make it last.

Hi Pea, older men don't want women of their own age here in the USA, which I have no problem with then wanting young women from anywhere. I don't see them as dirty old men just a man needing love and companionship. As now a days older women like me are looking for younger men that aren't looking for marriage but companionship and an intimate relationship. I don't consider myself as a dirty old woman. I don't believe it has to do with age but with maturity. Enjoying each other at whatever age. This being said we should not be shaming or pointing the finger but allow everyone to live their lives happy!!! Thank you for bringing the truth to this subject. 💞

Pea, I suspect you missed one more truth about many of us "dirty old men" - the widower. Marriage vows say "until death do you part" and the widower has proven that he can make and keep a commitment. Many widowers had marriages that lasted 40 or more years - which is probably longer than you have been alive. So who is the better "catch" for a filipina looking for a lifetime commitment - an older man who has shown that he can and will honor the "until death do you part" promise, or a younger guy who is half the old man's age and already on wife #3 and looking for #4?

Thank you so much for this. Stumbled across this channel watching "old dog new tricks". Perhaps a lot of the negative views come from a culture that views successful retirement age men becoming ex-pats as losers because we are no longer interested in playing the game by their rules. As a successful American man in my 50's, I can tell you that we are essentially considered throw away items to American women who only want our resources without offering anything in return. They offer no compassion, loyalty, trust, honest communication or affection. Is it any wonder so many of us want to retire somewhere we can live in peace and comfort?

I think the reason some people criticize older expats may relate to jealously. Many younger men simply lack the financial resources to live a laid back life in a tropical paradise. And there is also the Ageism element. I experienced this on the job here in the US and it's a real thing. Also there is the fact that some Filipinas may prefer older men because they are more mature, financial stable and just nicer and kinder.

As well as own my own home all by the age of 37😂 it just looks wrong to others probably due the the western thinking.. It will always look like he's taking advantage of the poor helpless Filipina😭😂😂😂😂 when in reality she is the one who most likely approached him😂😂😂😂😂😂

There are many places in the world to retire, when you come from the West. I happen to live in Thailand and Western guys/ gals say all kinds of negative things about foreigners who are not stuck in America, with a bossy old wife and buried in debt. Most of the rest of the world doesn't have that judgemental attitude that they have in the Western countries.

Just watched your youtube upload on older expats and having just hit 60 myself I guess I am one of them. Just wanted to say as a new subscriber how refreshing it is to see such a wise head on such a beautiful young woman. I thoroughly enjoyed the arguments that you put forward and the way in which you presented them. I definitely will be watching more in the future and am happy to be a new subscriber. Thank you and please do keep up the good work

When I met my wife she was 35 years younger than me, and we had common interests and beliefs.SHe could debate anyone and beat them. We had three daughters. Unfortunately, she died before me although I had bought insurance for her in case of my passing, When I bought the house for us some of her relatives said I was stupid, Iknow they were jealous, We treated each other with respect and listened to each other.

Thank you so much for your nice comments about us older guys! I was impressed when you said things like kindness are important. I've looked at many online dating ads and it's very rare for a woman to say kindness is something she is looking for in a guy. I hope you've found a good guy for yourself that you will have many happy days with, you're a nice girl and you deserve it!

Your explanation and opinions on this subject are spot on, I've often wondered where the cut off point is from being a young blade and a so called Dirty Old Man. Here in the UK, there is an inherent ageist culture, with my generation in particular being blamed for most of the problems that the younger generations are facing and I think this in some way contributes to why we are stigmatised. Young men are the future Dirty Old Men and when they accuse me of being one I just say, no I'm not, I've always been like this. I have saved this video.

One of your best videos ever. I 100% agree. There are many quality men that have retired in the Philippines. The men that say this, are JEALOUS because they are not brave enough to do it. They just hate on the smart men who get to enjoy themselves with a better life.

Pea, I am happily married to my wife, who is older than me, and not a Filipina, but we are still interested in retiring in the Philippines, not for economic reasons, but simply because we love the Philippines! Wonderful people, beautiful places, warm weather, hospitable hosts, and predominantly Christian. Age gap relationships are not unheard of in the West in times past. My grandfather was 38 when he married my grandmother when she was 18. They were married all their life and have 9 Children, 32 grandchildren, and more than 70 great-grandchildren.

@@TheFilipinaPea Honestly, I haven't seen you miss yet. You seem to always cover all the angles of one subject, so you have it covered, and being a Filipina, you certainly are more in a position to discuss all aspects of life in the Philippines than many of the expat videos I see. I mean, they can be a help because they discuss their experiences, but they also expose their biases. It seems you avoid biases and just present the whole picture
