I’m a long time Hawks fan and I’ve watched Traes development through every year, and finally someone else noticed that he’s been picking up his dribble almost every possession. The reality is, this season has been his best as a passer, not his best as a scorer but it feels like you can bank on at least 17 assists a game which is absolutely unheard of. Anyways you do have a point. I think it’s because defenses have learned how to guard the Hawks five out pick and roll much better which killed absolutely every one back in 2021, and so as a result Trae isn’t given the opportunity the get down hill on screens anymore because teams switch the pick up top

Solid take about untapped potential. You'd have to really watch them closely for a couple games to pick up on that. Also Trae has been noticeably good at keeping his dribble alive this season, almost to the point where I'm surprised he hasn't gotten called for a carry a couple of times. Might've been just the Lakers game that he was picking it up too soon.

We've been a top 10 defense over the last 10 games and a top 5 defense during the winning streak. If you just look at the numbers it looks rough, yeah, but that's largely because we were missing 6 rotation players and putting David Roddy and Garrison Matthews on the floor for 30 minutes a night for 8 or 9 games. It's not a surprise to me that we've been winning a lot of games now that the roster is healthy.

The Hawks have been playing good basketball lately and you can see defensive improvement with the addition of Daniels. However, it’s early in the season and we need to reserve judgement until the Allstar break. They also need to acquire another veteran point guard to back up Trae. I would like to see coach Quinn utilize the bench deeper (playing time for Vit, Mathews and Nance) to keep the time fresh and more potent

They won’t win the chip but they could sneakily push anyone in the east to seven if they’re firing on all cylinders. We know young can conduct an elite offence. we’ve seen him do it the past few years. but it’s always been negated by their subpar defence. Largely due to the void that’s created by young but now they seem to have figured it out defensively. If hunter keeps it up and Dyson starts shooting a bit better who knows what they can do

@narrow36015 күн бұрын
But that's really tough to come by, because not everyone can help clog the paint on defense while not doing so on offense. I mean look at when the Hawks tried to put Onyeka and Capela as a front court together last season, like you guys said defense was amazing, 3rd best rating in the league. Offense was horrible, paint was clogged, PnR's couldn't be ran, driving lanes for kickouts could not be done. It's hard to find a pair for Capela that doesn't play exactly like him.
