You made a very valid point about sanctions and that's the negative impact on the economies causing people to suffer. Among all countries being sanctioned by the West, Cuba is one with the longest history in the record. Its people have suffered the most and also for the longest time in history. Yet, Cuba is still surviving. And likewise, Iran and North Korea are ok and have not seen regime changes. As we all know well, economic sanctions on Russia will be fueling global inflation (given Russia is a key exporter of metals, oil and gas), and cutting global agricultural output (fertilizers). As such, sanction is by definition a double-edged sword, it is a question of time and likewise a question of tolerance level before one side is forced to change course. For example, if the inflation level were to explode to double digits, is the West still in a position to tolerate it? And let's take the USA to illustrate. If the average pocketbook sees sky-rocketing food and energy prices amidst flat wages, what will they vote in the mid-term election that is merely months from now? This will be something very interesting to keep an eye on....and we will soon know the result.

Im a foreigner who lives in Russia, there is no increase in prices for MCdonald, actually a lot of them are still working today with the same price as usual, which I myself find weird, I am not sure if the MC restaurants were franchised or decision to close is set for the owners to make, or Mcdonald itself decides or maybe till their agreement finishes ? no idea. Prices won't increase for MC because their food is 100% supplied by local markets.

The problem is that sanctions don't work. They do wreck some chaos, but are pretty useless. UK, US, Poland and Baltic States try to follow them, the others are ignoring, especially Germany and France. Bosch was involved into building russian IFVs until today, French Thalys was delivering IR-aims for russian tanks even during the war, Leroy is still supplying russian army with construction materials, Swiss Nestlé is supplying provisions for the russian ground troops, Samsung delivers electronics, etc. They say the EU airspace is closed, but just today there was a russian cargo plane that flew to Slovakia, got refitted for the flight and flew back. The unsanctioned countries, that are in economic union with Russia deliver tax-free absolutely anything Russia wants, from western arms, trucks, gears to processors. Hence, you can still buy benzin from the official Shell in Russia, which claimed it "stopped the business". Alone in the last three weeks, the EU has transfered more than 16 billions to Russia despite "cutting Russia off the money". The words that come out of EU leader's mouths are just air disturbance.

European countries know how to punish themselves by taking away property from Russia, they gave Russia the right to do the same and start selling property at bargain prices; now any foreign company that has not imposed sanctions can buy, for example, a car factory, modernize production and produce cars under its own brand, if Russia imposes a ban on the supply of fuel, metal, wood, fertilizers and food, then Western companies will evaluate their sanctions.

🇬🇧Enjoy your meal. More than 10,000 pubs and restaurants may close in the UK due to rising prices. According to the Daily Mail, the inflation in the restaurant business in the United Kingdom ranges from 13% to 17% Already, about 20 thousand enterprises are operating below the break-even point due to inflation, rising energy prices and rent increases. We need more sanctions.

The impact of the sanctions is devastating primarily for the people who don't support Putin in Russia: those are the ones working with international companies, IT, digital, freelancers, middle class. All those people are fleeing Russia right now (about 100,000 already left this month, much more coming) - given the alternatives: starve to death being cut off from their international income, or go to jail for opposing the authorities. Majority of Putin supporters barely have any savings, their income is inside Russia and they don't care at all about SWIFT, mastercard, IKEA or McDonalds. Effectively, what the sanctions really did, is they cemented Putin's power by forcing all the potentially unloyal to regime, to flee Russia. Excellent strategy.

Let's correct one major flaw in your analysis: The ruble lost its value against Western currencies because the west won't buy anything from Russia (except for Germany's gas). BUT the ruble still holds its value against currencies that still do business with Russia. Big emerging economies. In fact, 75% of the globe WANTS to do business with Russia and rid themselves of the dominance of the US dollar even the Saudis are jumping ship! Russia is a super-rich country and the rest of the world WANTS what Russia has! They will pay for it in other currencies, in gold, in goats! Keyword: They will PAY for it.

Ok Putin bot. If anything you said was true then that would be Interesting. The USD is the worlds reserve currency and is what gives a lot of developing countries own currency value as an inflation based currency is better for economic growth then a deflationary one. Meaning that when a currency loses value to the USD it loses value to most other currencies, other wise some one has to pay billions to off set this through buy backs. Or your currency takes a massive value hit. (Look at the housing crisis for this effect) Few currencies ain't tied to the value of USD like Pound Sterling but... They have their own value, usually stability, and will scurry away from Russia like a sinking ship. A country can want to do business with Russia all they want but with out a stable currency exchange they can't, unless it's raw resources to raw resources, which really does not help if your Russia and have to import manufactured parts and components.

Once again I get evidence that the West does not understand the Russian people at all. And I don't mean Russian politicians or businessmen, but the average Russian person. You are all throwing facts out the window that we tried to talk to you, to negotiate - we called on you to be honest - but you did not listen, as if we were subhuman to you. Over the years, we have spoken directly about many things, including about the non-proliferation of the NATO military infrastructure to our borders, about the persecution and murder of Russian-speaking people in Ukraine, about the Nazi movement flourishing in it (oh, our grandfathers did not finish these creatures in the Great Patriotic War , still survived, bastards) We were already full of suspicions that the West was acting against us, not to mention even Ukraine - all Russians know who carried out the coup there in 2014, in fact bringing the Nazis to power. But when in recent years all sanctions have been directed at the whole of Russia, we are demonized, our news channels are banned, and like a cherry on the cake - your social companies lift the ban on calls for the murder of Russians (!)... Everything is already crystal clear even to the last follower of navalniy. Our guys have now unearthed documents on the development of biological weapons in Ukraine by the US forces - documents, originals, with signatures of US officials have been published. Even Nuland at a meeting of Congress officially admitted that these biological laboratories exist - but in the West only a few people talk about it. In Ukraine, the Nazis who came to power officially declared the national hero of the Nazi criminal during the Great Patriotic War - the West is silent about this. The same Nazis kill and persecute Russian speakers, including with the help of artillery - the West is all right with this. Moreover, just a week before the special operation, Zelensky made an official statement that Ukraine wants to re-create nuclear weapons. By the way, it is quite possible that our guys have already found something about this in the liberated Chernobyl. And now these new sanctions of yours - and in all areas: the economy, services, finance, and even the gaming sector! Okay, with the sale of games and goods in them - after all, only these Western companies bear losses from this - on the contrary, as a result of the ban, we will keep this money in our pocket, instead of spending it on some kind of battle pass. But. It's funny to say, but, for example, as a result of sanctions, the Brawl Stars game left Russia (Is it how it is spelled?) - but the whole joke is that its main audience is children of early school age. You have imposed sanctions on children - do you realize this? And what is the purpose of this particular sanction? It is not clear, well, at least the kids will do other things. And any sane person in our country looks at all this - and understands that all this is not because the West wants peace. When the West does not notice point-blank that it has destroyed many countries and killed many people - just for the sake of resources and influence - but unanimously howls about Ukraine, when after 8 (!) Years of fruitless expectations, when we expected Ukraine to fulfill the Minsk agreements, when all this time the people of eastern Ukraine were CONSTANTLY under shelling, Russia began to act. Everyone suddenly forgot the destruction and killings of people in Iraq, Libya, Vietnam, Yugoslavia (Remember Kosovo, right? Only for some reason the Donetsk and Lugansk republics with their demand for independence are “different” in the West) Syria and many others. And looking at all this, a thought begins to creep into the head of a Russian person - where are these people's conscience and humanity? That being said, do you realize that with the current policy, you are cutting yourself off from our products? And this includes resources. Including energy carriers. Do not be alarmed prematurely - we will not abandon the current contracts - the Russians, unlike you, keep their word. Even during the Cold War, we fulfilled our obligations under contracts. But ask yourself the question - why should Russia sell its resources to you after all these events? And what will you do when your meager supply of these very resources runs out? Especially in the presence of such countries as China, India, Iran, Central African Republic, South Africa and many many others? It may come as a surprise to you, but the US and the EU (which in fact is a servant / occupied by the US) with the UK, which imposed these sanctions against Russia, is far from the whole world. (which was quite clearly demonstrated by the Chinese Foreign Ministry with its publication about the world map, according to the West) Why does it not occur to you when you accuse Russia of aggression - why should we interfere with you? We have free land - in bulk. We have all minerals. We don't have an overpopulation problem. We are a completely self-sufficient high-tech state. We have so much food that we are the largest exporter of it. (by the way, thanks for the previous sanctions - with their help we developed and strengthened our agriculture). This is even if we keep silent about the space industry. So why should we meddle with you, except because of an imminent threat to our security? But you've been fooled so much that you don't even think about it. But every Western "expert" knows what the Russians and Putin personally think and want. P. S. By the way - the latest news. Ukraine has placed sea mines on the approaches to its cities - about 420. But they just forgot that this is the sea and the weather on it is harsh - as a result of the storm, many of them broke the cables and drift towards the Bosphorus and the Mediterranean Sea. If it is not clear, then in the direction of shipping lanes. A big request - let me know if this message comes across in at least one Western media. Be careful.

I think the only ones who believe sanctions are making Russian population panic is US people and those that only are able to access European news biased by US. Not to blame, you just switch your VPN to US and you would only see media over and over again spreading how crushing are the sanctions, how NATO and UN are saving the world and how US is a free nation. I hope someday people in the US will be able to see how domesticated they are due to years of media their government selectively and meticulously crafted to build their way of thinking.
