No more than a single freaking repeat in any given set! Force them to kick for goal or kick for touch and allow for it to be challanged by the captain. This is making it so easy to fix a match for the bookies.

I often yell at the tv saying get up when a player from my team is staying on too long. next thing a 6 again is given. Sure they can work it out and usually they do it because the team needs to catch their breath or get defensive line set

I don’t see any consistency with the 6 agains, especially as far as slowing down the ruck. It’s like the ref is just calling it whenever he feels like it. Get rid of it imo.

When Im now watching the game, Im actually wondering why there is a ref out on the field, with the challenges that each side has, the percentage of challenges that are successful amazes me, it also appears that 90% of the tries are now given as No Try and sent to the Bunker, which just delays the game, the NRL need to clear the game up and take all the fuzzy BS out of it. The 6 again rule is crazy, if the ref cant control the game then he shouldnt be on the field, it I was a betting man or took bides, 6 again rule could be really useful.

The game doesn’t react to the right things. Only thing that’s really need to come in is how seriously they take foul play, head contact etc. Obstructions, six agains, disruptors, blockers. They were never a problem in the first place and the rules were changed for no reason. Captains challenge I personally believe is the worst rule ever introduced. The benefit rugby league has over a lot of other sports, union, AFL etc is that it is a very simple game in theory, but we have done our best to over complicate things and add rules in which have taken away from the spectacle, not added to it.

the game has sped up with the 6 again rule, which ultimately puts more stress on players. which decreases players careers. This year we have had alot of our stars with Hamstring injuries/ non contact injuries. which clearly shows the stress the players are on. They have added extra rounds and sped the game up. If the game values their product they will consider the well being of the player. Yes there is an entertainment standard, but there is no entertainment if our stars are out injured due to non contact injuries.

It is a nonsense rule. I'd rather see a straight out penalty as you can make more ground by kicking for touch for that extra 15-20 yards from the spot of the penalty, then proceed with a tap kick.

Depends on the nature of the foul, they were only brought in for obvious ruck interference so why do so many players still keep doing it. The rule shouldn't be changed, if you're team is fatigued and not in position then don't hold up the play. It is fair.

i think there needs to be communication between the bunker and ref, not the bunker over ruling the ref. that way the bunker can give his/ her 2 cents but at the end of the day still the refs call.

Gus' comments suggest allowing defenses to not be onside, wheres the upside to the attacking team? Cant fwd pass so why allow a quicker defence. But on the whole I do agree there needs to be a solution. When the rule was introduced half the offsides happened off camera and you can even see why its being ruled

I think Gus’ point is that they need to stop nit picking. Grinding football is what makes the game what it is. Being all over a team but then having that pressure released because you were half a meter off side is ridiculous. That’s his point in a nutshell.

If theres less nitpicking in rushing defense and ruck based infringements then it just opens up the question of how do you prevent them bending the rules. I guess it comes down to how the ref communicates what he is seeing and what he will penalise if its continued. (Which I do see happen from time to time but maybe it needs to be regular)

Yeah - my pet peeve is that the broadcast never ever shows if someone actually was offside or not. Seems they are very arbitrary penalties rather than given for any reason. What’s the point of working on a defensive structure, just to have a referee decide you have to defend for 4 sets because you laid in a ruck for a split second too long. Punishment doesn’t fit the crime to be honest. A crazy idea for me, is to give teams an option when awarded a penalty - 1. Restart tackle count, but no kick for touch. 2. Kick for touch but tackle count remains the same. Get some grind back in the game.

The modern day of Rugby League is ruined. It’s getting away from what the game is all about … THE GAME let’s get back to basics, it was more entertaining to watch and for the players. How many referees are there now ??!?!? And I mean now in the bunker. The game is over controlled. But one rule that can be helped out by down stairs is the off side passing in attack. How many times do we see it get getting away with, resulting in a 4 pointer. But that’s another argument ……
