"One big apology equals one big reward." Ok so I can't be the only one seeing the problem with telling a psychopath that if they hurt someone and say sorry they'll be rewarded.
@FullTimePatient372 ай бұрын
But .. 0:48 how did they really know this from a PET scan.. I know it's a TV show.. but, is it possible?
@ohmyme132 ай бұрын
So I consulted ChatGPT and the answer is yes. PET scan can be used to see brain's activity. And don't know if you knew, but psychopaths have decreased activity in certain areas of the brain. (that said, it's not definitive, that's why House wanted to make sure) ChatGPT specifically mentioned: - Reduced activity in the prefrontal cortex; - Amygdala abnormalities; - Dysregulation in reward pathways.

The true psychopath was the young boy.

That boy gave me shivers, with that evil stare and that demonic smile.
@justcallmejessz37122 ай бұрын
@wendymarie7151 the boy was creepy, but the little girl is terrifying. She already figured out the entire system by using "emotion". The little boy still used mum and dad and sweater vests to appear like the golden child. If either child was an only child they would have gone on far longer without physically harming others.
@Ephicx2 ай бұрын
@@justcallmejessz3712 the little girl wasnt that scary, the system was poorly designed and incentivized her to abuse it. it was obvious it was gonna go bad when he said "do something bad, one apology, one reward". anyone with a brain can hear "do something bad and get rewarded". it would make a lot more sense if it was do something bad, one mild punishment, one apology, one punishment removed. this incentivizes not doing it in the first place, and to get used to "making amends" even if its fake. most kids do dumb things and apologize for things theyre not sorry for anyways, everyone's felt that way from time to time even if they're not sociopaths.
@SkoomaDenDenisen2 ай бұрын
The little boy seems more text book how to write a psychopath but the woman (House) and the little girl is actually more inline with how they behave. They compulsively lie and emotionally manipulate to gain what they want but violence can still happen.

as someone getting their masters in counseling and psychology, all psychopaths are sociopaths but not all sociopaths are psychopaths. there is a lot of misconception surrounding the topic due to tv shows and movies. a sociopath is someone who struggles to experience human emotion, has a difficult time with empathy, and forming relationships but it IS possible for a sociopath to create certain bonds with people and later to heal. a psychopath is someone with a complete lack of human emotions particularly empathy who cannot properly form the bonds needed to have real relationships with others and it is not something that cannot technically be healed from as the brain lacks that specific mechanism. however the idea that a psychopath/sociopath is more likely to hurt ppl comes from the idea that bc they lack human empathy it is theoretically easier for them to harm others but in adulthood when critical thinking develops they are actually not anymore likely to hurt people than anyone else bc the thing about sociopaths is they are only out for themselves. murdering/physically hurting someone generally comes with unwanted consequences they would rather avoid. how it’s treated in childhood can make a major difference for how they behave in the future.

No kid can, by definition, be a psychopath, or to use the clinical term have antisocial personality disorder. That is an adult diagnosis. As stated in New Amsterdam, where it was accurately assessed, children CAN be evaluated for conduct disorder and observed for "callous unemotional" behavior, which is also taken as a criteria for ASPD diagnosis. Children, generally speaking, can be treated and guided to try and reduce the impact and MAYBE reduce the risk of developing an ASPD diagnosis as an adult, but it is not a sure bet by any means. What I'm trying to say is... children always have a chance, at least by current clinical standards. Even adults with ASPD can get treatment to manage it long-term, so things are not as binary as TV would make it seem.

I disagree my sister is a photo path shows a lot of tendencies signs and mental disorders to go with it, we are all scared of her, she has tried seducing our stepfather and thankfully she failed bc she wanted to find a way to get him out of our life all because she doesn’t like that he’s fat, she gets excited watching gore and behind a poster we found our moms blood smeared on the wall because she thinks it’s cool she will purposefully get moms blood on her so she can do so, she abused our younger siblings and even when was caught wouldn’t admit it and manipulates everyone in the house she’s only 14, started when she was 11, she has done loads more I can’t share and has had a diagnosis of a lot of things from psychologists. Children can be psychos. She reminded me of every person on the video, the Asian girl and blonde reminded me of her most
@maxi1ification2 ай бұрын
@@_trul.yyy_5116 if she's 14 she's not a child, she's a teenager, but outside of that technicality, if she started when she was 11 then she could have been diagnosed with conduct disorder, which is a prerequisite criteria. So overall, assuming what you're saying is true, she may very well be a psychopath (colloquially speaking) and fits the criteria properly, assuming she does not improve or change in any meaningful way once she turns 18. Of course, medicine is not an exact science and psychiatry is somewhat less so, so a specialist may very well deem her fit for ASPD despite not being 18 yet. All I was saying was that, clinically speaking, as a matter of classification, no children can be a "psychopath" yet. They may very well behave as such before that, but given the fact that they can receive therapy and there has been demonstrable benefits to diminish the effects and better the overall adjustment of children with conduct disorder so as to more or less prevent (if possible) the onset of proper ASPD or diminish its magnitude (at the very least), it is not considered appropriate to label then "psychopaths" yet. Again, things are relative, and not every child responda well to therapy, most remain just as problematic and may get worse before inevitably turning into adults, and THEN there is no discussion as to what they are. For the record... ngl... but your descriptions of your sister did disturb me a little... hope you're ok my good man

That doesn’t sound correct, ASPD is developed during childhood, before the age of 8 due to either childhood trauma or genetics or a mix of both. To say a child can’t present as a sociopath or psychopath doesn’t make sense because both disorders are caused at birth or during early childhood development. However they can’t be diagnosed as a child
@jayleighbear2 ай бұрын
@@audreya.s.d9003this is correct but it can vary depending on severity and treatment needed. it’s just not preferred to diagnose a child with the disorder due to stigma and the fact that bc the brain is still developing there is a good chance of “recovery” and available options for treatment. I want to tell everyone about someone amazing. His name is Jesus. He loves us so much. Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we may be able heaven through him. All you have to do is put your faith and trust in him, accept him as Lord and savior, and follow him. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only begotten son that whosever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life” God is so good.
