It looks like it fronted a building. The roughness on the back is to help it hold when cemented into place. Many areas of the seacoast and many many dumps were filled with the truckloads of debris from the Blitz. which is why there are so many items that date to 1939 and before. The brick work was so extensive that it was even sent out as ballast in some ships of the day. (some reportedly ended up in New York).

Good job girls. Looks great, someone not everyone has in their garden. I once rescued pet tombstones from an area that was being built over. Made a very unusual walkway in the backyard. 👩‍🦳🌺

The perseverance and hard work you both used to rescue this lovely piece of history was truly an extreme mudlark and definitly worth at least a cup of tea. You could even do a casting from it and maybe make more of them? I think if you find bigger ones that you can't remove, then maybe do a pencil rubbing and turn it into a painting. I am also thinking you either have a ghost, person or your latch to your front door isn't catching as from 26:05 of your video your front door periodically opens and closes.lol. Can't wait to see what else you find.

What an endeavour! It really is a beautiful piece of architecture. You are both persistant and mighty! I doubt you will try another massive rescue, but if you do, figuring out a way to put skids on your cart will make it easier to slide over rocks and uneven ground. I did not think the cart would prevail , but I knew you both would endure it. Congratulations! It is a Lovely piece. The " Lets Go With The Johnsons " couple found a Whole Beach Full of Building Masonry pieces that were quite extraordinary ,about a year or so back . At the time I thought it would make great memorial garden decor and suggested it to them. They use historical Bricks for their garden decorations. They were not interested in taking on such a project, but perhaps you might like to as part of the " Lost Tower Diaries". Perhaps you could plan a joint venture to that masonry rich beach . It touched my heart to see all the historical building parts that likely were the debris of bombed Buildings from WW2. 😭 Well, just a thought , it was a wonderful video the Johnsons did. They often give wonderful historical info along with their mudlarking , as do you. Thanks for sharing. Namaste. Carpe Diem.❤
