As a therapist - LCSW- and a mother of 4 now grown children , i so appreciate this conversation. I homeschooled my kids starting in the 1990’s because I saw their energy and refused to have them drugged to make them more convenient to the school system. In my practice I implement a bio/psycho/social/spiritual/cultural approach. There are no off-limit topics in the therapy room.

I am almost 40, and DEI-like policies have been present and intensifying my whole life, and it effects the entire pipeline. It's not just that people are being hired when they're not the best qualified, but their "qualifications" are also not the same. The rot runs deep.

Masculinity is not "hard to manage". It's actually a huge asset. The military knows how to do it. They (men) need hard physical activity, purposeful action, and a virtuous role-model leader, and given that, they will perform in a way that transforms societies, frees nations, and uphold value systems. Why in the world would anyone think masculinity is "hard to manage"? It's absolutely ESSENTIAL to a functioning society.
@Zzyzzyx3 күн бұрын
Well...the military seems to do it pretty damn hard

Agrée. Hierarchy is an extension of male psychological patterns, where status is assigned proportional to perceived competence. It’s through these hierarchies that masculinity is harnessed and directed. Conflict between males resolves quickly with a superior position in the hierarchy acting as the backstop. Emasculating workplaces has seen this breakdown, with competence hierarchies replaced with status models built on identity and perceived grievance. I lived it firsthand in my organisation and the whole thing fell apart.

Imagine if someone in academia said, "women are hard to manage", or "femininity is hard to manage". There would be an absolute liberal meltdown. SEXIST! CHAUVINIST! is what you would hear.

You seem to miss my point. With regard to education of young people, girls are more conformist (in general) and boys more likely to be unruly, hence boys getting in more trouble, higher likelihood of adhd dx/tx etc. In adulthood, a strong, intelligent, confident man is a formidable enemy to those wishing to manipulate or take advantage of him. I think this is part of why you see more women in social and hr fields.

@ why would an educator...who's job it is TO EDUCATE, see the natural, normal biological tendencies of males as an obstacle, rather than seeing it for what it is...a biologically meaningful necessity that nature designed in order to form strong and lasting social groups (packs, tribes, families, etc)...and WORK WITH THAT FACT rather than denying reality and attempting to change it, "manage it", and even pathologize it? Masculinity, like femininity, should be celebrated! For God's sake, you people want to celebrate homosexuality, but you can't celebrate NORMAL male behavior? A decent, law-abiding society is created where males are taught to control their own physical urges through knowledge and discipline, but you can't completely repress nature. Instead, young men's tendencies should be embraced and encouraged through sport, competition, hands-on learning, and discipline. You can't just expect him to sit down, shut up, and act like a female. But that is how liberal academic environments are designed. By the way, add/adhd is a FAKE, SYSTEM-INVENTED "DISEASE" that does not exist in real life. It is simply the failure of academics to admit that the system is designed to stifle natural male energy, creativity, original thought, and "non-conformity". And it's a way for evil to poison children with drugs. Shame! There will come a day when these people will pay for their crimes. And it can't come soon enough.

I'm the weight lifting guy and you're probably pretty on the money honestly. I gained more confidence by firmly resisting CSJ at work, than when I was lifting five days a week. I wasn't actually comfortable with the additional attention anyway. I suspect more testosterone helps though, although any type of regular exercise is probably similarly beneficial. It's good to feel strong though, as moving through the world just engages muscles you never knew were there before, and you do feel powerful. A lot of it was overcompensating from being a basket case in my teens and 20s though. I'd still recommend weight lifting to other men (it's even better for women). It's fun and good for you.

Although I try to limit my political content consumption, I've come to look forward to these discussions between the two of you. Andrew's insight about the facade of hypermasculinity is a salient one. Whether it's steroid-swollen muscles or narcissistic entitlement inspired by the likes of Andrew Tate, it reeks of insecurity and a yearning for solidity. I think there has been a modern trend associating artistic creativity/expression as solely feminine, and I think it does a disservice to men and boys. Perhaps it is symbolic of the schism between the sexes. Ancient Greece and Egypt did not have such prejudices-- even, more recently, the Renaissance masters, Shakespeare. They were perceived as both masculine and creative. Competent, not frivolous. Thanks for another thought-provoking chat ❤

As a therapist, being mindful of how some of our identities impact our experiences is not the same as being an activist. Activists are, in fact, not mindful of all the nuances and don't think about them critically. They push identity related policies and usually get exploited by all kinds of political forces. Therefore, I still stand by the statement that therapists shouldn't be activists.

Absolutely agreed. Humans are complicated and have nuance
@boltvanderhuge97645 сағат бұрын
I skipped university while all the indoctrination was going on. It's still extremely bizarre to have someone turn up at my workplace, admit to being an activist, then act affronted when it's suggested that their (paid) activism isn't appropriate at work. That this is somehow now acceptable is one of the more frightening aspects.

if there was ever an institution meant to combat corruption, it's the psych department. however, the psych department is a human institution just as all the others. And where humanity exists, so does human corruption. It's 'almost' inescapable. Life could simply be described as 'corruption management.' 🐿

What I see is liberals and academics now willing to discuss these issues critically, while they fully agreed with the agenda as it was rolled out and implemented incrementally over several decades. They never opened their mouths, they never questioned. They bowed down and agreed that the emperor had new clothes. They ALLOWED IT. Now, all of the sudden, they say "yeah, I don't think I agree with all of this", yet they never say "wow, I was wrong in agreeing with this agenda before, or wow, I see how this is a communist takeover". God forbid they risked out-grouping themselves all these years. And God forbid they admit their liberal opinions are incorrect. Even more unlikely...they identify as "conservative", even if they actually adopt conservative views. This has to be the biggest ego-driven group known to man (liberal academics).

Do you have a sample speech of how you call out your spouse, parents, friends, boss, the police, and those who have power over you when you disagree with something?
@TheSwissChalet3 күн бұрын
@@jayvander7156 My spouse, parents, friends have "power over me"? How? I'm an adult, by the way, not a minor. I assume other people are too. Those people have no power over me. A "sample speech"? No, I know it sounds crazy, but I write my own lines on this world stage, and maybe you should consider doing the same! Use your conscience as a guide, number one. Actually LIVE your values. (First, GET SOME VALUES if you don't have any...that's a big part of the problem, people have no value system from which they operate their lives). Live your values by speaking what you believe and actually believing what you speak! The police only have power over you if you break the law. DEI has always been unConstitutional, and we have free speech, so they have no power over you for acting within your God-given Constitutional rights. You likely don't know your rights...start there...learn them. Your boss...learn your free speech rights as they apply to employment situations. Why would you want a "sample speech"? Can you not think on your own?

The reality as I perceive it is, these people aren't liberal. When you get liberalism so wrong, you lose you liberal card. 🐿
@gabeo94742 күн бұрын
@@jayvander7156No need for a scripted speech. If someone starts speaking nonsense and buying into ridiculous ideas, then tell them you disagree and point out the obvious flaws in their thinking. Better yet, ask questions that cause them to critically examine their beliefs and possibly see the flaws themselves. It does not matter who you are talking to. If you aren't willing to challenge a person's ideas, then that person will not respect you, and you'll become a doormat.
