As Ni processor I don't neglect talking about the past. Because, that's what foresights are usually based on. Another thing to note about saying Ni bounces around in jobs and relationships is that it's always been my understanding this is more of an Ne characteristic. Ni locks onto target. However, we will constantly reevaluate, which may look like instability or indecisiveness, but it's actually a filtration process to become closer to accuracy or the target and to adapt to constant changes. Ni is a subconscious targeting laser, particularly in social situations. It can require going through many steps or layers to have us reach a point, whether anger or a goal or impatience or conclusion and so on, and this can make Ni seem like a slow process. But every characteristic is one side of a coin. The flip side is that Ni can also make a conclusion with at least a dozen reasons, all at once, literally in the speed of a synapse or the snap of fingers. I don't have to think about it as my subconscious evaluates numerous scenarios, patterns, and foresight possibilities in that speed without me having to stop and think or evaluate. There's not much middle ground of speed in that context, personally speaking.

This is the video I've been waiting for! I misstyped as infp then infj but a few years ago typed as isfj which makes a lot more sense but I still wonder sometimes because I find both infj and isfj so relatable in different ways. After this prettyy sure I am really isfj though :)

Interesting, so I typed as INFP when I was 16, but I switched to INFJ when I was 20, and since 24, I've been an ISFJ. I think I briefly typed as INTJ at one point after 20 years of age, but probably switched back to INFJ.

I'm an INFJ, And my friend and mother are ISFJs. First off, very different from me. A few obvious differences: ISFJs are focused on the surface level practical. They very much want to cater to people, but on a surface level with practical matters. For example, when my friend has people over he always wants to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. Chop wood so everyone can enjoy talking around a fire, or barbecueing for everyone. Simple things like that. And an ISFJ i don't think would have any problem being seen as simple and practical. On the contrary, I as an INFJ want to change people's lives for the better. I see the big picture and think deep. The simple things seem like temporary fleeing pleasures that leave no lasting mark and therefore unimportant. And not to mention tiring to always be up and about catering to people.. an ISFJ has no problem being up and about from sun rise to sunset and actually seems to tend to prefer it. My friend gets antsy to do something at 6 in the morning. Me? Sleeping or happy to stay in bed ALL DAY indulging in my every curiosity or pleasure. ISFJs are all about small talk and hearing and telling about the day to day. Me as an INFJ? Small talk? Kill me now! I wanna talk about various ideas, philosophies, emotional struggles, and my personal favorite counseling! Lol! If someone trusted me and felt like they could confide in me and wanted to hear my advice i would feel so honored. I would be so delighted that my years on end of study/observation/analysis and pondering could be put to use as most people just don't care and don't want to hear.

That is very true. My friend is ISFJ and I'm INFJ and I totlay agree with what you've said. You mentioned the fact that "ISFJs are all about small talk and hearing and telling about the day to day." explains why ISFJ are much more popular introverted types and some time even more popular than some extroverts.

Hello, I do not know why but I am still lost!! Two years ago I was an ISFJ, too caring, making sure everyone in my family is enjoying the night-comfy and doing well. Now that I am 24 I feel like I really changed, i now talk and think deeply, I want to change people's life for the better, I see things and I have a high vibration. I am more an INFJ now !

@@speakingchemistry MBTI Personality types are not well studied clinically so there is no consensus on what each type is. Most people who are interested in MBTI have little to no knowledge in actual psychology and their ideas of what the types are are misguided and and stray wildly from what has already been discovered in psychology and other sciences like neurology. Most peoples' explanations of the types are simply a list of stereotypes and a list of a bunch of behaviors they think that type would engage in. It's all garbage. It focuses on behavior or sometimes even preference of terminology rather than the thought process and motives behind the behavior. Most people share similar behaviors. We differ in our thought process and the motivation/reason behind out behaviors. There is only one KZbin channel I know of that properly tackles the thought process and motivation behind the behaviors to determine the types. That channel is Type Cast Heros. I would suggest forgetting everything you think you know about types and just go watch their videos and listen to their explanations carefully and see if you walk away with a better understanding. I think I myself also has a pretty good grasp of the types but I don't have time to make proper KZbin videos to explain

On point Alexis, I get mad for others stereotyping MBTI and its cognitive functions because you don't get to know your growth points which is the main purpose why you want to know in the first place. If you are mistyped then your supposed healing and improvement will also delay or worse develop your shadow functions. Also great Ni explanation. You can never really understand it unless you use it. 😊

I love how you explain the types. So many KZbin videos that seem all educational just end up being filled with stereotypes. I watched a 52 minute video on ISFJ last night and the person was nonstop talking about how traditional ISFJ's are and how much time it takes them to accept new ideas. I've found that people will say they're not stereotyping, but they blatantly are. I've recently started thinking I'm an ISFJ and videos like that make me question my typing because I'm open to new ideas. I love family traditions and am rather repetitive in my activities, but I don't want a 1950's society. 💀 I'm still not 100% decided on my type, but your videos have helped me a lot. You *actually* delve beneath generalizations and stereotypes, and provide fresh insights on things I haven't considered before.

Thank you for making this video!:) I am an ISFJ who thought I was an INFJ for quite some time. I love how you said Si makes meaning from experiences while Ni makes meaning from trends. I've always heard Ni being the function searching for the internal meaning of the external world whereas Si looks for internal comfort from the external world. While I love comfort, this single definition did not particularly resonate with me when I first got into typology. I love art, literature, philosophy, and typology which I've commonly heard as being inherently intuitive topics so I made the assumption I was one. (I also adore history that one is more Si stereotyped, haha). However, I began to realize I struggle with finding trends but instead get great joy from examining the little overlooked details that form each subject. I loved your metaphor of life being a book as well! I've actually had the belief for a long time that life is like a library. Each person we encounter has a unique story filled with many different chapters of details and memories. We each have our beginnings and our conclusions and do not always know where each person is on their journey, though it is always a joy to get a glimpse at someone else's story. The little details in life are often where our journeys intersect such as sharing a meal, enjoying a walk, or listing to music. I love sharing these little moments with others. Thank you so much for your video! I found it very insightful and I greatly appreciate it. ^^

The explanation about the fourth function helped me a lot. I still wasn’t sure about my dominant function, as most of the times I really do not pay attention to my natural thinking process of new information and ideas. My husband is clearly an IxFJ, and whatever he is, I am the opposite. I used to think he was an INFJ, because he’s very creative and has intuitive-like ideas. But whenever we talk about the future in actuality, he doesn’t seem comfortable. Especially when I talk to him about change, or trying to optimize the future by showing him the path that will take us to our goal, all he sees is potential danger. I think much more ahead than he does but on the other hand, he’s way more grounded to the present and to reality. Whenever we talk about an idea, all I see is the end goal and I have this vision that constantly evolving into perfection, while all he can think about is if we have the money or resources to actually bring this idea to life, and if we don’t, that idea won’t have much value in his eyes. Even when I suggested solutions like ways for saving or making more money, he’s like “we’ll cross the bridge when we get there.” This video was very helpful and your explanations about MBTI is the best I’ve seen so far. It’s like learning this subject all over again.

I’m here after rethinking my MBTI type. I had a long period of time where I thought I was an Fe dom (ESFJ specifically). Since the hero function is “unconscious”, it didn’t really make sense to me because I could always think of a time where I used Fe in specific parts of my life. And after watching many videos of ESFJ and ENFJ, I never really related to anything. So I considered if I was perhaps Fe aux. That’s why I’m here 😂

I think I'm an ISFJ (I was types by 2 ppl, but they were written tests, so I can't say that they're 100% accurate), but I don't think my Fe is very healthy. Like I realize that there are thing's I want to do, but I never do it. It's always too late for me to act on what my "Fe" wants. Or sometimes, I just end up not caring. It's so hard for me to act on the Fe, it just never seems natural for me to do. Usually if I'm around people I'm comfortable with, I'll use my Fe, but it's childish. I'll joke around to make them feel better or to bond with my family. Maybe it's just because I'm in my late teens and I'm still developing, but the struggle is too real. Is it possible to do a video, if you haven't, on how the functions can manifest unhealthily in certain types and how to improve from there?

My mom is INFJ to an extreme, my dad is ISTJ to an extreme (they didn't work out because of this), and I'm ISFJ. I'm pretty in the middle of most traits, though. My struggle is being an ISFJ who's way too easily overstimulated. 😅

So I've taken the MBTI test a couple of times along with other personality tests, enneagram, soul contracts, life path numbers, natal birth charts. Etc, trying to figure myself out. INFJ has been my result and I really resonated with a lot of the videos out there. Totally consumed myself with them. Then I wondered about ISFJ and seeing if I mistyped myself being that they are only online tests. I saw some similarities as an ISFJ. Is it possible to be an INFJ with some ISFJ traits or vice versa? I feel everyone is different and not to generalize types.
@liliswan207
@liliswan207 Жыл бұрын
This was months ago, but I just want to answer that there definitely will be similarities in traits between the two, because they share 2 cognitive functions. What is different is the way they like to process information, Ni and Si. If you still aren't sure on your type, I recommend looking at the function stacks of an INFJ and ISFJ (all eight of them) and see if your own stack is in the same order, or at least the most similar.

Can you explain some more about how to "shut off" the 3rd function? I've heard it being described as the playful / comfort function or the function that you tend to "loop" with.

Did I say that in the video? Basically I experience the 4th function as shut off by default and I have found it helpful to work on "turning it back on."
@AlexisKingsley
@AlexisKingsley 3 жыл бұрын
The 3rd function I find that I use too much, and when I use it, it's the negative manifestation. I find that older people have a better relationship with it and may be playful/comforted from it. So I've found it helpful to not engage with the 3rd function when I'm using it negatively, and replace it with trying to use the positive version of the 2nd function. My rule with my 3rd function is I try to only allow myself to use it productively. :)

@@AlexisKingsley Interesting. That makes sense, I don't know how that would work for 2nd/3rd = Te/Fi. But for Ne/Si, Si is a sort of favorite-food, favorite-couch physical comfort zone. It would take some conscious Ne "newness" to suppress it and try something else for a change.

@@AV-tp9po Ya that's a great example! I notice sometimes people with Ne 2nd and Si 3rd tend to have weight issues because they go to comfort food. Or that it causes them to stay in their comfort zone instead of getting out and trying new things, so then it's good to start using Ne to get out there, and only use Si when it's positive and optimistic. Thanks for the timestamp!
