We love our children all the same but some are more special then others. What all models you name have in common is they are low, with a low seating position. For grandma's a hell to get out of, if you lowered your civic even more.. Also they where fast compared to the engine volume, great handling after 2000 they went a different way. I wanted a si because the 4 door option, reliability and one of the only sedans left with manual transmission. In my search, 8th gens have to many miles, mods and bad paint. 10th gen I didnt like how big the sedan looked. I also like the nostalgia behind the na motor, nothing like a high revving na motor. I settled on 9th gen👌

It’s just paint.....if you can find one never modded, no accident and decent mileage you should buy. I got mine one owner no accident and he never modded because he was not into the modding scene. It had paint peeling but because of that I was able to get him to drop 1000 off original sale price. Got my 2006 si for 5k lol in 2021.....car was perfect driving condition for being 15 years old

When it comes to 8th gen they had a really bad clear coat from factory. Out of all things, that is the only thing you could actually gloss over. There was a point in time when Honda had a recall and they'd paint the car again for free. That's why those that have been repainted after some time seem to hold value, otherwise it would be bargained down.

Only Honda I've owned is an 07 Si coupe. It's an amazing car to me. K20Z3 with an 8600 rpm redline. FI said peak power was 7800 rpm, but that's where secondary vtec kicks in. Stock 197bhp (about 172whp). I've been fbo with a dyno tune at 215whp for a year now. I've been wanting to do an AWD Civic build for awhile now and have been gathering parts. But instead of using an older chassis like everyone else, I may just be the first to AWD my 8th gen Si.

The capability and handling dynamic of the front double wishbone out-does any power bump in newer Si, except for GenX....However, the 1.5T lets it down since the power-train isn't great for continuous lapping and Honda engines are expected to have longterm durability, even at extremes. The Ideal setup would be 11th Gen Chassis with 2.4L engine. Hopefully Honda does it for 2022 Si. 11th longer wheelbase should be a good fit for the bigger NA engine. Personally, I'm loving the economy from my base 10th Gen 6MT, which I track, but it doesn't have enough power to pull pass the Turbo or 2.4L on the straights (a problem that the 2000 si would also have).

8th gen is hands down the best SI for performance. 9th gen is the best daily due to its torque and reliability. 10th gen is a close second for daily but it is held back by the issues plaguing the L15. 10th gen is also second for performance, since its already turbo charged, a tune can increase hp higher than other gens while remaining stock, plus its chassis and suspension is the best Civic SI has to offer; however, the L15 has a lower ceiling than the K series engines.

Totally agree. As an owner of a 10th gen si coupe I always felt like the L series is probably the most disappointing motor from Honda out of the box. Building the motor can for sure improve it but you’re better off just getting the Type R at that point unless you’re dead set on owning an Si.

I owned a 99 Sir and a 2000 Sir (I'm up in Canada). It had a few extra options than the American Si if I remember correctly, one being heated outside mirrors. Either way, 2 of the best cars I ever owned. That B16 screamed to 9000 rpm and reliable as all hell. Also had daytime running lights and ABS. I don't believe the US Si had those features

I have an 08 Civic Si that I bought bone stock. It was a bit expensive, but it had less than 100k miles on it. Being a Honda I was able to replace the clutch and drop the transmission out of it by myself no problem with the help of some tools and google. I plan on keeping it for a long time, and eventually getting a Type-R when the price on those come down. I

@@garboi8976 sorry I’m so late to reply. As far as interior, it holds up to everyday use pretty well. I would say that the center console area cloth and the door cloth gets pretty used looking but, wiping them down ever so often does the trick. I changed the shifter as well( I went with acuity short shifter). Everything else is pretty much stock and it been pretty good to me. I hope this helps

It does take pairing it twice to get your device to show up( just when you want the name of the song being played to show up, close the app then open app back up). I would buy a subwoofer to get more bass but other than that it’s awesome

On the 1/8 miles and 1/4 not a single one 8th and 9th gen SI have put in front of me trough the years 2014-2017, 2014-2015 I was stock with stock ecu just good tires 2016-2017 b18c camshaft and a dyno tune to 152whp, And with given the fact that the EM1 have disadvantages to not have an LSD when I put a LSD b16b transmission and a dc2 swaybar, the car handle way better than a similar mod 8th or 9th, or at least I didn’t toast my brake on 10min of track like my buddy

Don’t know if this counts but if you want to get technical there’s a model missing. 93-94 del sol. Before the mid model change it was called the civic del sol in the us (technically it was a 3rd gen crx). However id like to point out what a lot of people forget was this model came in s and si trim. In 1994 the si vtec model was introduced. It was the first introduction of the b16 in the us, 5 years before the em1 debuted. In 95 they dropped the civic from the name so technically the 1994 model was the first true b16 vtec si.

Yeah... the EP3 was like that last donut in the box no one wanted cause it had no flavor. Between the weird shifter location and that weak K series everyone pretty much passed lol.

No mention whatsoever of the Del Sol Si ?! It was a CR-X outside the US and a Civic in the States. I do agree with you though the 99 Si is the best. That's why I converted my 96 ex to a 99 Si :) One day I'll get her back on the road lol

for me it's the 89 EF hatch because it was the starting platform for the kanjo runners in japan or the 95 EG hatch or coupe as it's the most agressive-looking one of the 90s and the weight dist is spot on. sucks people are destroying all the nice examples though, at one point it's going to cost 10s of thousands just to buy an Si

I owned all the generations and i missed my eg6 the most im not saying it was the best one that would be the ep3 for me but my eg6 was my first vtec experience at the age of 19 im 38 now and owned 17 cars ... i loved all my hondas vtecs ❤

The best SI is the one you didn't get in America 😅 yes, the EM1 is great and I wish we had it in every European Country, but the best one is the EK4 Hatchback Facelift (99-00) that is basically a baby version of the EK9 Type R. Mine has 307 thousand KM (don't know the mile conversion) and it feels like I just bought new!! Six Gen Civic will always be the best 💪
