My brother has always had problems with drugs and alcohol but my parents never left him. Of course it’s easy to say you can disown your family when you’re angry but you can never totally let go of someone that is your own blood. This girl/woman needs some serious help and therapy - I think the bad people she met had something to do with drugs/gambling or something like that. And it’s clear that is what started it all. Her situation is similar to mine. I am still a teenager and both my sister and I are raised by our grandparents. My mother left with another man with four kids and my father, well, he's still around, imprisoned for false accusation, but is with another woman and has a son. Everyone in our house, my grandparents, aunt and uncle, treats us like slaves, telling us things like "You should just sell yourselves so you could earn money" or "Even if you sell yourselves, no one would dare buy you" and even "When your grandparents die, you will either be our housemaid or just go work in a nightclub" which was always said to us when we sometimes do not clean the house or feeling lazy, because we're still just teenagers, we want to socialize and have fun. My grandmother would embarrass us, especially me, at public places, e.g. school, if she doesn't believe what I say or if my grades lowered or if I go home late because of projects but thinks that I've been out with friends. She would beat me in front of a crowd and yell at me. I have always been at the top of my class and what more do they want from me? Us? We tried running away but somehow it doesn't feel right and my grandmother always comes to pick us up. I've thought of cutting myself but I couldn't do it. But my sister did. Seeing her with those cuts made me cry while I was cleaning them. They have gone too far. We have been treated like it was a mistake that we were even born in this world. It's heartbreaking even though we try our best and I know we can have lapses at times. But it's suffocating here, in this house. The woman is lucky to have such understanding parents and she should move back in for the sake of her daughter. Seeing this made me cry because how I wish I could hold my mom again and be with her, get out of my house because everyday is torture. Not a day passes by without the yelling and nagging in this house and I don't know if I can still hold it in. But I should right? One day, I'm gonna get past all of this and have a bright future. Someday. I hope the best for their family.

It's really a concern. The problem is psychological, in one side the older sister can't take pressure from others or environment, other side the parents takes a hard way treating their daughter. Poor the granddaughter that takes thr hate from her grandparents. The solution is I think that the older sister could start prioritize her daughter, since she is her responsibility. And endure the stress from works, because she needs to pay a lot of debt. If she still can't endure it, there's no solution for it, to make she pay the debt. Since she wants to pay it first. Sorry bad English, and please take no offense.

But i dont have children, i also never send my bills home so my parent would be the one who pay that, i live in my own without being any burden to anyone. But this lady has a daughter, also she made her parents pay her shits and thats totally not okay, you're grown up woman you should be more responsible and stop saying things like "i need more freedom so i'd prefer to live by myself" NO GIRL, ITS NOT GOING TO WORK THAT WHY!! When you are already a mom, your child should be your number 1 priority, put aside anything about yourself, just focusing in your daughter and act your age!!!!!

Joyita Darling I don't think he/she is condescending because of her personal experiences. I think you should learn from her that loving yourself and making decisions you are proud of is very important. She keeps running away from what is good and long term, and you are too. Maybe youll be the same kind of parent that is driven away from tedious work and commitment. Use this as a learning experience and try to learn to make your investment of effort and time grow. Running away from home or cutting ties from family can make you a lonely person mentally, you might not care about the consequences or destruction of yourself. I dont know your family, but you dont seem to have benefited much if you don't take this freedom as an opportunity to lead your life in a good direction. Much love to you

This concern was.. exhausting. It's probably one of the most serious on the show, I was surprised. It's one thing to make a debt for your old sick parents and still want to drink with friends and not work, because it's hard. It's a whole another thing to also have a child at the age of 11, so mature and understanding. I can't blame her parents for telling the girl they hate her sometimes, they have so much on their heads. They can't even take it out on their own daughter, because she's somewhere living her life. Hope everything was resolved and she does what she said she would, gets a proper job and takes some of that stress of her parents and daughter's shoulders.

i have watched this show for so long now and this is one of the first concerns that have actually made me cry. The way that she treats her family is just so rude, especially her daughter. I get that she had her at a young age but she's 33 now! She is more than old enough to be responsible of her daughter. All she wants is to have fun. She's been doing that since her teenage years, when is it ever going to be enough? She's just being selfish and immature at this point in life. She still makes excuses to run away from her responsibilities and doesn't want to do anything apart for fuck around. It makes me so mad. Even her daughter is more mature that her, i swear. ANd her poor parents? Gosh they are so sick and are going through so much that they even want to kill themselves! Is this how you're supposed to treat people who brought you up and only wanted the best for you??? I'm so done with her and i get that she wants to change but i honestly do not think that she will. best of luck to her family. If you actually read through this, God bless you and sorry for wasting your time.

She said she meet bad people, so she was probably influenced? When you feel like nobody loves you, whoever comes with a tiny bit more seems like the best person you ever meet and you fall for things easily.

Mariana Yeah and besides, even if she had a good and loving family, the bad friends will trick her into thinking nothing or nobody cares for her and shit.
@Knapek276 жыл бұрын
Her father, probably. He looks very strict and seems to get easily angry. As her mother wasn't often at home, the father was in charge to take care about them. She probably had to take care about the home, herself and her younger sister by herself. They mentioned she got often beaten and felt lonely so she maybe just felt betrayed by her family, because they were supposed to love her.

The fact that people are justifying the sisters actions actually baffle me. I know in American society kids can act out and it's just considered normal and "a part of growing" but this is to another level and people defending her is pissing me off. Not only is she selfish to the end but her actions affect her child and family. Her parents health should be number one along with being there for her daughter yet she cares about only herself. Don't try to justify these selfish childish behaviors by talking about her sister "being mean" to her. I honestly feel so bad for the parents and daughter. They are so forgiving because I would be upset to see her.
@suzychocolate76 жыл бұрын
thank you, someone finally said it. even if we presume that she has a mental issue, that doesn't mean that it would control her actions and let her do bad things. she is a grown up woman, even with mental issues, what's wrong is wrong. she had a bad childhood, most of us did, she should just grow out of it and move on since she cannot change the past. she can change her future if she is really willing to, but she seems to be the kind of person who leads a carefree life and runs away when responsibilities emerge. she has no shred of guilt or remorse in her eyes, and I bet she's never gonna change because she doesn't want to.
@alexstone31566 жыл бұрын
Exactly! She just don't want to tied down to any responsibility be it parents or her own daughter. It is almost like they are there to pay my bills, why should I care. I can just enjoy my self. I was really pissed with her arguments. About her sister being mean, man are there even a single pair of siblings who doesn't fight or say mean words to each other in their young age? About their parents being out, was she alone in the situation? no the younger sister had the same situation.
@margaridamendes83826 жыл бұрын
No one here is saying that it was okay for her to do what she did, however her behaviour is not normal, and people don't just wake up one day and decide to leave their lives just like that, there is always a reason for that, wether it is mental problems, drugs or a disfunctional family life that can cause trauma. When we watch these types of shows we don't get the full extent of the problem, so how can we make preconcieved judgments about who is at fault here? Once again, not saying that what she did was okay, but we need to try and understand her actions and get to the root of the problem so she can be helped.

Don't say "American" because that makes the same crap that others says about "Koreans are/do" true too then. I'm American and the older sister is a selfish brat. As a mother, I could never do any of the things she's done. I understand the cultural difference.

I can't blame her of being that immature that was a psychological issue and most people can't really overcome it no matter how we see ourself normal. She really needs a counseling. Though on the other hand , the reality is whether the world is cruel or kind some people do good things while some people don't. Its weird that how could it be that some people can't do well instead even its good or bad.

It seems like she liked the freedom from everyday life she got when she ran away, but clearly she’s got herself in a complete mess. But when she had her daughter she started to get back on track and stuck around for 3 years, but sabotaged herself and left again. From what she’s said it seems like she feels like a burden to her family, but instead of trying to change and turn things around she just carried on with the way she was living. I hope this has given her the push to change things and the family becomes closer.

This is so upsetting. There was obviously a deeper reason as to why she doesn't want to be with her parents, than just wanting to enjoy her life. I hope she seeks professional help to guide her through her pain and struggles. Her father being abusive, may have caused her to be traumatized for ever wanting to be in the same house, or even room, as them. Plus she experienced too much pain when she was young, from the people that lived in that area. Hopefully she manages to find a good paying job and pay off her dept, then she could afford to live, with her daughter, somewhere away from her parents (because they seem to be the underlying problem).

Even though what the big sister does is not okay, I feel like she needs to get her mental health right before parenting her daughter again. How do y'all expect her to take care of her daughter when she is struggling mentally herself. That would probably make the situation worse for the both of them. She obviously needs to get herself mentally and also financially together before she starts to properly raise her child. I don't think she is a horrible mom, yeah leaving your child is not okay, but I understand giving how the mom is mentally. You can tell she cares on the inside, but whatever happened to her as a child that made her run away affected her so much that she keeps doing it to this day is something that should be seriously focused on. There is obviously something deeper going on between this family if it cause that girl to become like this. I mean that dad beat her and scolded her to get her to stay which only made it worse if she can't stand to be around them at all.

It's obvious she's depressed about her looks and not receiving as much love as her younger sister. It also seems like when she's home her family teases her about her faults, I understand how she feels in that regards. Her family shouldn't be badmouthing her in front of her daughter, no matter how much of a headache she is. It causes her daughter to not want to be close to her and also have no respect for her. The sister definitely needs therapy, but from what we see in Korean culture, they tend to be aggressive or blame the person for feeling the way they do.

I actually understand the older sister as I felt quite similar and had this kind of experience when i was younger, but when you grow up you change your idea. Once you leave the home you get some responsability and looking back you understand that it should have been difficult for your parents too, even if they fail they tried their best raising you. You can let go of old grudges this way
