1. Eat enough protein (1g per pound of bodyweight) 2. Eat enough, eat at maintenance and see how weight fluctuates. Don’t be afraid of putting on a slight amount of fat to gain muscle. 3. Don’t buy too many supplements. You only really need creatine and whey protein if you don’t eat enough protein. 4. Inconsistent lifting form. Perfect your form, film yourself to review your form. 5. You’re copying enhanced bodybuilders (their gym routine). 6. You’re not lifting hard enough. (1-2 reps in the tank) 7. You’re not using full range of motion. 8. Excessively strict form. 9. Excessively chasing the pump, focus on breaking down the muscle not just the pump. 10. Too stubborn with training, you can get the job done in one or more way, always be open to new exercises. 11. Abusing “if it fits your macros” Focus on quality foods for better energy. 12. You think that the gym is the only thing that makes you grow. Recovery is important. 13. You go low carb and low cal on rest days. Make sure to eat on rest days to fully recover.

The improper lifting form, that was something that took me years to finally realize how much of a difference that plays. I finally dialed back the weight and focused solely on form. Finally building way more muscle and gaining a lot of strength too, while keeping proper form. If I can’t lift the weight properly, its too much weight is the mindset I’ve been following.

Dear Will, Thank you for inspiring me to take my fitness journey more seriously and helping me realize that progress isn’t linear. Went from being 5’8 210 a few years ago to 135 last year (thru horrible dieting and too much cardio), tried bulking in the winter for the first time and got up to 175 which was the heaviest I’ve been in a long time but also the strongest. Same for me, I've always been about 100 gram protein total. I've now added about 50 grams a day. But getting 1 gram per bodyweight is nearly impossible. I need about 230 grams of protein. I don't know what I all have to eat... Well, I could eat just 500 grams of chicken but I would only be half way...
@Waxsu2 жыл бұрын
@@MrArjanOskam I eat 2 lbs of non fat greek yogurt per day. 45 g protein per lbs, then I have a protein bar and shake that adds up to 80 g protein and .5 lbs of chicken for another 40 g of protein. That’s 210 g right there and it’s rather low in calories as well, roughly about 1200 (more around 1600 once you add toppings to yogurt). From there you can add in whatever carbs you favor, I like to do protein waffles with peanut butter and sugar free syrup, and a bowl of Kashi cinnamon harvest protein cereal with sweetened almond milk (tastes like cinnamon toast crunch). I usually struggle with eating a lot of food in a day, so I’ve found things like this work perfectly for me!

Which are 30 grams protein, and the lowest calories of all the flavors. The most expensive part is the protein shakes and bars, you can find the greek yogurt for $3.5 per 2 lbs at a target, and I get my chicken from walmart, it’s a deli sliced buffalo chicken. Eat it straight out of the package, it tastes incredible tbh

Ten years ago, I was finally able to get back into the gym. I was recently separated, and I didn't have someone with an insecurity problem holding me back. I went from 287 to 203 in 2 months. I worked out 6 days a week, 3 of them body weight resistance, 3 of them cycling. I even did some type of physical work on my off day just to keep the calorie burn going. Even with just body weight resistance, I didn't fuel myself with enough protein. I actually didn't just lose fat. I lost some muscle mass as well. It was easy enough to put back on thanks to my body type, but it was just extra steps that were unnecessary. It's far easier to have a small calorie surplus while building muscle and get rid of any excess weight, than it is to put the muscle back on even if your body type allows for it.
@custardpup638511 ай бұрын
I don't think protein was your problem, you just weren't eating enough period. 84 pounds in 2 months is completely absurd and an unhealthy rate of weight loss, you must've been practically starving your body to lose weight that fast. It's impressive and a rare example of an extreme method actually working, but you could've avoided the extra steps and lost muscle mass by taking a slower, healthier approach. You can build muscle in a deficit but it's a lot harder and practically impossible for the size deficit you must've been in to lose weight that fast. I hope you have kept it off and have a healthier approach to fitness and food now.

If you recommand sauna it would be nice to see you quote or link the actual scientific research on the effects on muscle recovery instead of asking the sauna owner about the benefits.

This! Ozone sauna is such a load of pseudo-scientific garbage.

I prefer doing recovery Scandinavian spa style. Sauna, cold plunge, sauna, cold plunge, repeat many times. The heat makes the blood vessels dilate, the cold makes the blood vessels constrict. Going back and forth promotes blood flow, which in turn promotes recovery/healing. You'll also feel super chilled out after a few cycles of this.
