@@browneyez1559 It kind of depends! The typical chenille yarn many artists use as pictured here can be more expensive, however, budget worsted weight yarn works great and is my preferred yarn for amigurumi due to the large color selection. It is also easier to learn with due to it's better stitch definition. Let me break it down. Amigurumi uses considerably less yarn than most projects. I find that I can make most projects with one skein of super saver. That being said, amigurumi also has more initial costs. Making a tote, you'd buy yarn, a hook, and probably a needle. For amigurumi, you need yarn, a hook, a curved needle, fiberfill or some other stuffing, and usually safety eyes, though you can embroider eyes on or use buttons if you prefer. These items are relatively cheap, especially if you get a bulk variety pack of eyes to start and replace your favorite eye sizes as needed. I wouldn't suggest getting more than a 16 oz bag of fiberfill until you know if you like making them or not.

I think, yarn under is best to use when making amigurumis like obviously it will make the amis smaller than those amis that's been made by YO and based on my own exp, it's tighter and looks neat.
@GM_Flynx7 ай бұрын
Depending on how much tension you give your yarn as you form each stitch, you will also also see much smaller to no gaps between the fibers. I prefer yu/yo for amigurumi. Gives a cleaner look IMO. But both approaches are great. And depending on the design, yo/yo may yield options to help with additional things the crocheted is attempting. Perhaps you are attempting to weave other materials like fur, felt, or ribbons into your doll? Or as one commented stated, fighting with tighter stitches that yu/yo yields is painful for you? Both methods are going to give great final products. 😊
