I'm not a fan of Adele personally, but you know what? Not everything has to always be about me. I'm comfortable enough to admit that even though I might not care for Adele's music, it still has enormous value because she's making other people happy. Let's face it, if we all liked the same things, this world would be a very boring place. Adele obviously has talent as well as a large and adoring fan base, so she's clearly doing something right. And being that I really can't argue with her success, I can only say, "You go, girl!"

But writing full-on songs, especially ones that become global smashes, is more impressive cause you have to be very creative with it. Singing isn't really all that hard if you can naturally sing.

Probably one of the very few times Aretha has been so generous in her praise towards another female artist. She isn't always this generous. Remember the stink she caused at the 2008 Grammys when she sh*tted on Bey for referring to Tina Turner as "the Queen". Tina subsequently got into a bitchfest with Aretha afterwards.

Adele doesn't have a terrible technique nowadays, actually. What she's dealing with is the damage she's done to her voice by having bad technique in the past and smoking so much. Her only vocal issues up until now are nasality and mixing, which I can't excuse her for but can't really shame her for either. She might be trying to use nasal support on her belts but she is untrained, and she does know how to mix but she doesn't know how to liberate tension. That's it. It's not like she's a terrible vocalist. She just isn't properly trained. And I doubt that her small range is any criticisable to be honest, because her songs don't demand a great range. She's fine up until a C#5 and I don't see her needing much more than training her mix to be able to belt some E maybe, but not much higher.
