Love Johnnie! What a piano player!!!

Johnny was Chuck Berry's pianist in their early years from 'Maybellene' onwards. He allegedly help compose Chuck B's early hits, but never received the royalties he deserved. Chuck claimed full composership. He's a great pianist!

In the movie Hail Hail Rock and Roll, in an interview, Johnny is asked the true story. Nothing would have happened to Chuck without Johnny.

hey if Johnnie had a real nice house over his head and room for a piano to practice and play these nice rolls from his start that's all that matters

Shucks, sorry to hear that. He was a main pianist for Chuck Berry on most hits. You'll recognise his playing from now. The other pianist was Lafyette Leake. Happy discovering...

And also by keep up I mean most white men can't play blues, they seem to think it's like jazz just notes placed here and there slowly. When blues is just about feeling and which seems to be somethings most white people who say they blues have. It's a feeling you have groove into not a note you can just hit. They sound like a bunch of old white men playing blues, he sounds like a genuine blues player. There are good white blues players of course it just there's not many. The stones last album great, all white but they understand it's a rythm and feeling thing not a just practice till you get it thing.
@ArielMasini8 жыл бұрын
yes man, blues is a feeling, not one scale..Im white and play the blues.. but blues is a black music, thanks for your words
