The music in this video is absolutely haunting/stunning,for this wonderful video, if you know what I mean. This video is one heck of a gem. Ive never hiked the AZT, but I want to, its on my bucket list. im 50 yrs old, and would have to solo, cause most all of my friends would never ever entertain the thought of a 400 or 800 mile hike.

SeattleSirHikesALot They will....am going to start preparing little by little. And by the time fall gets here, Ill most likely be ready to at least do a few segments. I would like to to the entire trail in one shot, but it would take me at least a year to get ready for something like that.

Thank you for sharing. Great video. You must be very quiet and patient to capture so much wildlife. I especially like the elk calling. We heard a lot of this up north, and there is nothing like it.

wrktoplayus Elk bugling is one of my favorite things to hear; agreed, it's so unique! One of my favorite moments of the hike. Thanks for the comment.

Dear SeattleSir, your video has inspired me more than I can describe! This landscape looks truly magical ! A quick question: would you suggest a book guide for the AZT? I wonder what would be the best way for me to prepare for this journey? Thank you for the inspiration.

Hi, Ivaylo, glad you enjoyed the video! When I hiked the trail, all of the resources I needed could be found on the Arizona Trail Association's website: aztrail.org. There is a guide book, but it wasn't out yet when I hiked the trail, so I can't speak to how good it is. You can purchase the guidebook through The Arizona Trail Association, or through Amazon (elsewhere I'm sure, too). Here's a direct link to the guidebook on Amazon where it's a little bit cheaper: www.amazon.com/Complete-Guide-Arizona-National-Scenic/dp/0899977472/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485102386&sr=8-1&keywords=arizona+national+scenic+trail Happy hiking!

Thanks, Seattle Sir, for that beautifully edited video. A group of us from Saddlebrooke, a retirement community near Tucson, finished the trail about a year ago. What a terrific experience. Of course I recognized most of the places immediately, but there were a few changes since then.

Man, I can't wait to hike this. I begin in September. Awesome video! What camera(s) did you use for your trip? The quality is extremely impressive. How did you save and transfer data?
@SeattleSirHikesALot9 жыл бұрын
Nate Thomas Thanks, Nate! I used a Canon Power-Shot SX 260 HS for the AZT, but recently purchased the Power-Shot SX 700 HS after dropping my camera in a river. The SX 700 is far superior with its zoom, picture taking, and video. I was able to store everything on one 32 GB memory card. Good luck with your upcoming hike!

I just got my 260! It'll do all I need a camera to do. I like it so far. Thanks!

+Bill Evans Hi Bill, I had to hike the AZT in two sections due to an injury. So, March 6th-23rd and Oct 3rd-14th. -Cheers

The part of the Grand Canyon you go through, is it the main tourist attraction section? Because now you have to pay 175 bucks to go on that trail (it starts on sept. 17th). I'm hiking the trail on the 22nd of this month I need to know so I don't arrive there with a prompt turn around.

Did you have to filter the water from the big rusty tank with the ladder (the Just Right one?
@SeattleSirHikesALot8 жыл бұрын
I pretty much filtered everything on the AZT, including the water in that tank.

How much will it cost me to do a thru hike of the Arizona Trail?
@SeattleSirHikesALot9 жыл бұрын
Johnny Osborne I respect your question, but am the wrong person to ask. I seriously have no idea how much I spent. If I were to guess, I'd say not including gear purchases, you should be able to hike it for less than $1500, but that's just a guess. You may want to go to the AZT forum and pose that question there. Hope you can make it happen!

I'm from the u.k. which climatically is a lot different from the u.s.a, I see those images of cacti in the desert and imagine seeing blue and manalito round the corner going back to the cannon's ranch. amazing wilderness. great film.

OJ SeattleSir, you are a great wild life photographer or else you got very lucky. I finished the trail Spring of 2013 but never saw a rattlesnake, gila monster or desert tortoise. Music was perfect. Your emphasis on water should be noted by anyone considering doing this hike.
@SeattleSirHikesALot11 жыл бұрын
I recognized your name right away from the AZT Blog...congrats on finishing the trail! I'm far from a great wildlife photographer, but for whatever reason I tend to see a lot of wildlife on my hikes...we can call it luck. :) Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you appreciated the water theme.
