I do love how Captain Boomerang called it, with Flash literally just echoing the same line. Later on, CB even makes it clear that the Flash they're fighting doesn't act like the Flash they used to know, making it clear that the original Flash is dead and gone. You know this game loves and respects its characters just by how it treats Flash. He somehow escaped Braniac's ship and saved the squad in the opening. For all his trouble, he got severely beaten by Green Lantern and the people he saved ended up torturing him and dragging him around like a garbage bag with Boomerang literally cutting his thumb clean off. The first thing he does upon regaining consciousness is to save Harley and is rewarded with Batman beating him to near death and taken back to the ship to finish brainwashing him.

I think WB keeping Ezra Miller may be an over correction in regards to how quickly they dropped Johnny Depp over Amber Heard’s allegations. They don’t want to make the same mistakes again and see the verdicts from actual legal courts instead of abiding to the court of public opinion. David Zaslav may also have a lot to do with it. The guy is all about saving money and cuts. There was too much sunk cost in the Flash’s budget and shooting schedule and he wanted a return in investment.
