This is the earliest I've been to one of your videos, and probably the most likely to get a reply so I wanted to say. I've been watching you for a few years, I'm 19 now, and I've thoroughly enjoyed every video you make. You give such an amazing perspective told through such an innovative medium, and that is amazing to me. I don't remember exactly the first video i watched of you, but i rememeber so many wishlists and predictions (those are my favorites) from the end of the year, you finally getting into pokemon after i was wondering when you would, and you being SICK when pikmin 4 was announced (I was so heartbroken when you couldn'tscream off the top of your lungs about it). Your appendicitis, your other troubles, and now that we have topicarlo i can just see more content from you I have some amazing memories because of you and i want you to know you make a big difference in peoples lives. I remember all the NX stuff incredibly clearly. A lot's changed in 8 years - it seems to have gone so fast. I feel like I've changed a lot too, and unfortunately with that I'm not as excited about this next gen, but it's nice to be back here again anyway just to be conscious of that at least. I think I'm maybe a bit like this not just because I'm older, but also because I do miss that weirdness that the Wii/Wii U/3DS era had a lot of. I wonder if that will come back - I think it's associated with being childish but it doesn't have to be, I would love to see some novel and surprising implementation of a technology again like how Streetpass was, or that ahead-of-its time food delivery channel that had on the Wii in Japan, or even Labo (though I never bought any of that). I suppose it's always so hit or miss they don't want those risks anymore, but at the same time now they're so successful I want more experimentation again.

I hope Nintendo will focus on continuing to push new unique factors and "gimmicks" in the games over the hardware. Boring /predictable hardware is okay as long as they use it to make more unique games with features like the building mechanics in Tears of the Kingdom. Either way looking forward to the official switch 2 announcement (hopefully before end of year).

The Switch released when i was 12, i got it on release. This console has followed me throughout the entirety of my teenage years and into early adulthood, I'm turning 20 next year. It has been a part of my life pretty much for the entire time i have conscious memories of. Now I'm sitting here eagerly awaiting the release of the next console, truly, more than ever, it feels like the end of an era and the beginning of a new age! A bit dramatic but hey, the timing worked out perfectly for my life hahahah.

I'm convinced the reveal won't happen until after Mario & Luigi Brothership drops. After how glowingly its reveal was received, Nintendo won't want to distract from that selling to its fullest, & showcasing Switch 2 before then might cause some to wait for the new system before diving in, which would lower sales & paint an inaccurate picture for their investors regarding the success of the game.

That original "Calm Before the Storm" video is one of my favourite time capsules of the pre-Switch era, so seeing this pop up in my subscription feed has been quite surreal, let's just say that. I too am a very, VERY different person from who I was in 2016 and I'm very glad for it. My relationship with gaming as a whole has shifted and grown more fierce, but at the end of the day, I'm still the same dorky Nintendo fan as I was when I was 16-years-old. Most of all, however, I'm glad that you're still around, still posting videos, Arlo. You're one of my favourite youtubers at the moment and I'll never tire of just hearing your input. We need more thoughful, measured opinions in the video game space. Here's to the Switch 2 (or whatever it's called) era. I think it's going to be a good one.

Video game news to me is kind of like how people get really involved with sports news. I enjoy playing them, but I also just get a lot out of keeping up with what's new, the state of the field in general, etc. What you said about growing up with a different "Nintendo box" at different points really spoke to me in that regard. I can look back at any point in my life, which games I was playing, and find all sorts of other memories sprinkled around them. Video games are like markers of different points in my life.
