Armed Forces Day 2019 has been celebrated by host city Salisbury and military communities around the UK and overseas. The annual event is a chance for the whole country to celebrate the work of the Armed Forces. On what was forecast to be the hottest day of the year in the UK, Princess Anne took the salute in Salisbury during a parade of more than 1,300 service personnel, cadets and veterans.

Its not so much the mayor its just that London doesn't have the proper streets to protray this well, it only really works for royal events. The parade is much better here then london which is fairly cramped. Plus can you imagine the traffic, just woudln't be worth it bar the spechial events.

I'm a soldier's brat as was my Mother and late Father he passed away 2017 , He like his Father was a Major retired Royal Engineers, my Mothers Father was a Chelsea Pensioner, when ever he came down to stay with my Mother, He would proudly sit in the Market Square in his Scarlet Coat of the Chelsea Pensioners, and havd his photo taken by passers by , many of them Foreign tourists . He was from Yorkshire just like his wife and they lived on the Butts Farm Estate , on Downsway Road since the late 1950's , until his wife Mary ( my Grandmother passed away ) that's when he went and became a Chelsea Pensioner until he passed away at the age of 95 and a half years old. His ashes are now resting in the Chelsea Pensioners Grave yard. P.S. You 4 thumb DOWNERS are a disgrace , people like you aren't worth the time of day. God save our Queen and all Military Personnel.

Wow man I had no idea it was going to be so big this year. I mean, you’ve got the Household Cavalry for goodness sake. Is all this because of what happened with the poison attack last year? In that case it’s really wonderful to see the turnout. REALLY WISH I HADN’T MISSED THIS NOW. SO DISAPPOINTED.😩 Didn’t think it was gonna be that big. Couldn’t have been more wrong. Shame on me.😔 Hats off to all those involved this year though. So wish I could be among you guys. If only the armed Forces would take me. It’s just so not fair.

Kandy Kandy Officially on my medical history I have Asperger’s. Once you have that label, BAM, even if it doesn’t effect you like how it might’ve once done when younger, they will not take you. I had planned to join the army for years during my teens, and then was finally told by a recruiter when I was 19. 23 now and still wish I could join up. Really isn’t fair on people like us who have tried to get past these old-fashioned labels.
