Oh my gosh! I so agree with your comments about Emily in Paris!!! We had not visited since the Fall before the pandemic and what a difference this year! So many young women with the “outfits” , the handbags, the hair bows - taking Influencer pictures EVERYWHERE! We had to laugh, but really. My favorite thing about my tree is the eclectic nature of the ornaments. The idea of a themed tree that changes from year to year makes me kind of sad. The nostalgia of each ornament is what makes the tree beautiful. I think it might have something to do with love of color and pattern. The beige or grey aesthetic will never be something I gravitate toward. I don’t find it calming. I find it cold, depressing, impersonal, and lifeless. Of course, my home would probably set the people who do like its teeth on edge. 😂 To each their own. How boring life would be if everyone liked the same thing. A very merry Christmas and most joyous new year to everyone!

I’m happy to hear that you’re taking a break. Well deserved. I understand completely how you can feel overwhelmed by so many things going on at the same time. I share that feeling, in part because I’m already planning a design for a Christmas sweater I want to make with yarn I plan to bring back when I see you in August! Designer trees have no soul or meaning. Tge fun is all the years of family made decorations that make Christmas so warm and meaningful. I love those decorations your nephew made and they will hold a very meaningful spot on each branch to truly decorate the tree. Thanks for sharing these adorable handmade ornaments. GodJule.

Matches, what a dilemma. I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself though. I would suggest creating an attractive container (metal, glass, pottery, ceramic) filled with sand. When you're done lighting your candles, put those beautiful stick matches with the burned end down into the sand to smother the flame. You could make an attractive arrangement of your used red sticks. Have a wonderful Holiday and an incredible adventure to Antartica.

Our tree has everything. Some of my grandmother’s ornaments, some my son made, some I made, some I have collected. We use an artificial tree, and the metal hooks weren’t working on it. I bought narrow red & white ribbons to hang each ornament, and add a bit more color too😊 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
