This has been my favorite episode! Carlos said it all when he said he has been content. One of my favorite sayings is “We are human ‘beings’ not human ‘doings’. The year 2020 has given us the chance to be what we are meant to be!

Memory issues are no fun! I have Sjogrens Syndrome, which affects my memory too. Carlos dearest, you are alive and that's what counts! The wood turning machine is called a 'Lathe', rhymes with 'Bathe'. The rain sweepers are called 'Windshield Wipers' in English. If you only knew how much your videos have helped me heal and keep marching on this year. My husband passed in June from Agent Orange Syndrome. He was a Naval Vietnam Veteran. This year and especially this Christmas are very tough. You are dear friends who come into my life every day and give me hope. Thank you both so much for showing us all loving kindness and making me laugh so hard I am in tears as Arne pushes Carlos' buttons and grins at the camera. A very Merry Christmas to you both and a prosperous and healthy New Year! SKOL!!🍻

When I was little (more than 50 years ago), my father would take an empty spool of thread (which were wood, not plastic), drive 4 finishing nails into it et voila! I had what we called a corking spool. ( In some places they call it a Knitting Nancy.) He would smooth out the edges of a bigger nail, and that's what I used to pass the yarn over the 4 "pegs". My mother would give me her small leftovers of yarn. I remember how much fun it was to add in a new colour and keep corking until it appeared at the bottom of the spool! I still have my ball--not as big as what Arne has produced. And when I had my own children, they had their own corker...store-bought this time.

I live in East TN in the US. I love that Arne is so crazy about Dolly Parton. We are very proud of her and all the good work that she does. I went to the same high school as her and was in high school with her sister. I am glad that Carlos was remembering the episode when Arne made all the Abba references. It was hilarious.

It’s wonderful for me, as a southern USA citizen, to see your home, your customs, your heritage, your foods, and you many many talents!! You both are equally charming and very gifted with humor! It’s easy to learn when you instruct on different activities, and to look forward to EACH episode! Thank you so much for being on KZbin during these trying times with light heartedness and love! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you this is been so lovely. I think 2020 has taught me the value of interdependence. On the west coast of the United States we have giant redwood forest. The trees are hundreds of feet tall but they have very shallow root systems that spread out. The way the forest and is at the roots all locked together and when the winds and storms blow the entire Forest flexes is one living thing. It takes all of them to stand strong and stay tall. And I think your programs of being alone together have created that same sort of community or Forest if you will. We can't do it alone, and the beauty is we don't have to. Thank you for helping us through these times and bringing so many positives. It has really helped!

Thank you so much for your wonderful podcasts and letting us see so much of your culture. You both are so warm and very entertaining. I agree with you Carlos that one of the good things about Covid is the down time that we are forced to take. I am a recently retired nurse. I have gone back to quilting and it is thanks to Kate from The Last Homely House that i have discovered you guys. Do not worry about the memory loss and not remembering your words. In the winter when I was young we used to do jigsaw puzzles, I was taught to knit when I was a child and to crochet when I was a teenager. I have taken classes to learn quilting and I learnt embroidery and cross stitch by my self and I do all of these things now at certain times of the year. My latest is making albums for pictures and some watercolour. So I have a very varied life that I enjoy. I seem to be making lots of baby quilts at the moment, but I am doing a large block of the month quilt for myself so little by little I will have something beautiful. I do love to knit socks and I will have to try your pattern. I so enjoy your podcasts please keep doing them. X

I think your channel IS diverse, and that is so wonderful. People who do any sort of crafting or creating often benefit by doing things with others, as I know from my various quilting groups or family groups (we are a diverse bunch! we do many different crafts). Your 'Sit and Knit for a Bit' videos give people in sort of isolation the feeling that they're together. WE do feel as though we're neighbors, despite the distance. I think one thing 2020 has taught us is that people are more important than things, that home is the best place, and that we're all more alike than we are different. Thank you for being there. And also for teaching us so much about Norway and Scandinavia!

It's "funny" how life has a way of showing us we need to slow down sometimes and self reflect on what we have, what we've taken for granted, and what we just don't need anymore. This one was just life's big joke on all of us at once! I'm so glad I was introduced to you two this year and also seeing the yarn community grow and support each other through all of it!

Hi Chaps, I just wanted to say thank you to you both for all the time and effort which has gone in to your videos - there is always a moment (or two) in each one where you make me smile; plus there is always something new for me to learn, which I like very much. If you can get BBC broadcasts in Norway, then you might like to know that Dolly will be performing songs from her new album in a half hour programme which is due to go out on BBC1 on 23/12/20 at 11:15pm GMT. She was also on BBC radio 2 yesterday in an hour long programme called Dolly Parton’s Good List - the programme is still available via the BBC Sounds archive. I hope you are able to access the programmes - if not, I apologise for tormenting you! Best wishes, J.

Carlos, I am a mental health nurse, and can honestly say that your fluency in English, even after Covid related memory and word loss, is remarkable. Thank you for the 4th Sunday of Advent. I agree with Arne, we were going all the time and when COVID-19 hit we stayed in the house. It is so nice and relaxing to be at home. My favorite parts of 2020 was visiting our daughter in January and finding/watching both of you out of your comfort zones baking cookies and making the star. I loved those episodes.I bought your stocking pattern and will be knitting that. WAY out of my comfort zone. I hope you do more things like that. Has Arne ever made bread? I have really enjoyed watching your KZbin programs, especially learning more about Norway. Some of my favorite programs have been seeing and learning about the sweater archives. Thank you for inviting us into your home and garden.

I love your idea of featuring and showcasing work of Norwegian crafters. The first one that comes to mind are people who paint those beautiful roses in bowls, furniture etc. Another sneak peak at what some of your museums hold such as folk costumes and more of that mitten collection etc.

In the USA it is called Windshield Wipers. I would love to see more Swedish crafts or traditions in your Podcasts. My daughter is part Swedish. We love doing Jigsaw Puzzles and we even glue them & frame them & hang them on our walls. I have enjoyed your Podcasts so much. You two are amazing. Keep up the great work that you do.

My highlight was having YOU to keep us company during these difficult months. We had something to look forward to every day, a chance to learn a new skill(colorwork) and getting to get to know both of you on a more personal level. We`ve known “about” you for many years, but to get to know you for the normal, funny people that you are was a real treat! Thank you for the time you have taken for all of your fun broadcasts! Merry Christmas from Switzerland!

Thank you so much for all the work you have done putting out these episodes all year, especially during December. I so appreciate being able to join you and knit along with you. I, too, appreciate being invited into your home. It is lovely, as are your fur babies. I love how loving and caring you both are, to each other and to people you don't even know. You have a wonderful relationship!

Oh please do some interviews in 2021 of some of the folks around you and what traditions they have kept alive. I got all my krumkaka, rosettes, cookies and sandbakels all made last week for Christmas boxes. Thank you so much for putting your lives on KZbin. You are soooo special to many.

Loved Arne unveiling Dolly's red album with such joy. Thank you for making our holiday season so special this year. I participated in your Advent knitalong and completed the 24 balls. It was the "silver lining" of this difficult holiday not being able to see our families.

Loved the high lights and low lights section. I left for a trip to Japan to visit my daughter who lives there. Halfway there my transfer ticket from Tapei to Tokyo was canceled. This happened mid-flight on a one-stop journey. I did not get to see Building 101 in Tapei but did get to continue using another airline. Then my tickets home were canceled as well. I did make it home and had a wonderful visit with my daughter and toured Japan. The sakura trees and mountains didn't care about Covid. Spring is a huge travel time and I had friends scattered and stuck all over the globe. Still both were my high-light and low-light for 2020.

Thank you for inviting us to your home! Your blocks in the Spring and your Christmas Advent KAL this winter have given me much joy in knitting during a very strange year. I’m learning too to enjoy being home. There are things I’ve missed this year, but I’m blessed I found your podcast. When my husband asks what I’m watching, I tell him “my friends in Norway”!

Your episodes have been wonderful!! I too would like to thank you for welcoming us into your home. I had 3 grandparents born in Finland (and 1 in Italy), so even though Norwegians don’t consider Finland in Scandinavia, Finnish people do 🤷🏻‍♀️ Only being 2nd generation born in the USA 🇺🇸 My life was FILLED with customs and traditions from Finland 🇫🇮 and Italy 🇮🇹, so I enjoy learning all this about Norwegian 🇳🇴 heritage, customs and traditions and comparing it to all I have learned all my life about my heritage.

Thank you for providing such a meaningful year during this time of tragedy. I am a fiber artist, mostly weaving, but found it very difficult to focus on any project. First discovered your Quarantine Blocks and that was the one thing that held my attention, short and sweet! My blanket needs finishing work but will be ready when our weather gets more severe. The Christmas ball project may not be completed but it will be ready for next Year when my granddaughter is three years old. I so appreciate that you have opened up your Norway for the world to know more about. Keep up the great work until you can spend more time traveling and leading groups. Would love to join you one day. You’ve been a lifesaver!

Another golden episode. I appreciate your candour, Carlos, about your reluctance to share more of your personal life in the past. As Arne has emerged as a Star Baker, you (respectively) have mellowed and shown more of yourself and you’ve seemed to have fun doing it. It is a joy to see the chemistry between you and to hear your stories and plans for the future. I love the idea of highlighting traditional artists as well as those who are pushing the boundaries of Norwegian arts. I look forward to the coming year and my dream is to be on a cruise with you two someday.

Thank you Arne & Carlos 🙏 you guys have been great!! I have loved all of your content since discovering your channel during the onset of COVID-19. I loved joining you on your trip north in summer and visiting the yarn seller with all her different qualities of yarns and which sheep produced which wool. I am not a knitter but I took up the challenge to knit this year’s Christmas balls and find myself knitting until 4am in the morning - just the one ball hahah I have to finish that ball! My favourite episode I have to say was the unedited Arne making the porridge and Carlos’ reactions - so funny. I’m looking forward to seeing you guys decked out in the folk costumes and it would be really interesting to see the shop where you had your fittings done for the fabrics. Thinking of making those garters as they remind me of the Peruvian Qu’éro versions used to tie up shaman altar bundles. Dear Carlos I am sure the side effects from COVID the will slowly improve and there will be some scientific breakthroughs as a result of all of this. Have a super Christmas and an awesome 2021 guys! 💜🙏

Thank you for your interesting and colourful videos. My two favourite videos were, the star and the cookies. The star because I got so caught up in the drama of the drill, because I know something about tools, but the cookies I was just laughing all the way because I know nothing about baking. This last video I only aloud myself to have bite sizes so it would last longer. But your blessing for me was when Arne talked about my homeland South Africa, so passionate that I couldn't stop the tears. This is the second time in fifteen years living in the UK that South Africa had a passionate and positive review. Thank you. I do envy you that you have such deep passion for your Norwegian culture. I think that because in SA we have so many cultures in the mixing pot, we loose the European cultures that were my forefathers. But on the other hand we are a very colourful nation and very creative. God bless and look forward to next year with you. xx

What a lovely episode! It was truly comforting to listen to and see how we been appreciating the lives we live now- looking back and reflecting. As I listen, I hear that having these moments with our loved ones not focusing on the perfect points but appreciating the natural imperfections makes life so much more wonderful! It is amazing what can be done during adversity! I look forward to seeing more of you both -I have learned so much and I value viewing this channel! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for your wonderful podcast this year. You have lifted my spirit everyday! I'm so glad you are thinking of returning to South Africa. It's a stunning country, but very hard hit by the virus. I grew up in South Africa. My parent were both Swedish. My husband and I have decided to spend our old age in Sweden, so we have settled in Dalarna, which we love. My husband speaks no Swedish and mine is very rusty. I do a lot of sewing, quilting mainly, and also crochet and embroidery, but not much knitting. But with your inspiring talks, I have knitted two scarves, a jersey, some cotton hand towels! So you see. We can get very inspired by you both! Next year I will make a star to hang outside, and maybe even bake some ginger biscuits before Christmas! Lots of love to you both. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
