Hey guys hope you like this install video of the ARP Extended wheel studs. In this video i go over how to install the front wheel studs. A rear wheel stud install video will follow soon. I would recommend doing these if you are going to do the BBK conversion as it uses a spacer for the rotor.

Thanks Blake, watched this a couple of times to get it straight. For those with 2015+ WRXs you'll have plenty of room to put in the studs without interference from the brake dust shield. No need to take off or bang on the shield. It's quite easy.

Here is a tip. I always break the lug nuts loose before jacking up the car. Then when torquing them down at the end I tighten them with the impact or if using a breaker bar, not crazy tight. Then put the car back down on the ground and torque them to the required value. While you can set the parking brake to keep the back wheels from turning, I don't like torquing the driveline like that on the front wheels. Also while on a jack stand there is always that risk that something could move. Probably will never break anything in the driveline but I find it easier this way because the driveline isn't taking up some of the pressure you are applying.

+David Senn I do it this way because I feel like it apples the torque evenly to the wheel without any load. Also I have had issues with the top lug nut stripping out due to the weight of the vehicle I think!

If you don't want to hammer on the hub and risk stripping the threads on the stud you can use a Universal Ball Joint Separator. It's only $17 on amazon. It is pretty hard on the ball joint separator and the threads on the separator get kind of jacked but it did the job .

tried to do the front on my 2015 sti don't have the same clearance as you.. I also tried the 4 bolts from the back but didn't get any movement from the hub I may just cut the Apr bolts slightly

i just bought a nice set of used wheels for my 4 lug kia. anyway got to the 4th wheel and a lug nut wasnt coming off. wound up snapping the stud. dealer wanted 500 to replace the stud cuz they claimed they cant get the stud in without removing hub and bearing. so i would need new hub and bearing... i left, and im currenlty on 3 lugs. im convinced there is a cheap way to get the stud in with some tweaking

great video! but just a suggestion you should put a dab of blue loctite on the threads to your brake bolts that fasten it to the wheel hub and the studs to ensure they dont move. also to get a accurate reading when torquing your wheels you should have them on the ground or at least touching so the wheel has less ability to turn

Never put blue locktite on caliper bolts. Additionally, all suspension bolts should not be reused including caliper bolts.

i put a small dab on the main bolts that hold the bracket the the actual caliper bolts and that is very true on not reusing them

My wheels have about an 1" too much of backspacin. Instead of buying a new set that have 3" backspace instead of 4" backspace, would this technique work if I wanted to buy 1/4in wheel spacers?

This is definitely what you want to do for spacers. It’s a must. Make sure to get hub centric spacers.

those rotors are just solid rotors, floating rotors are comprised of 2 pieces and literally move when they are on and tight. you probably meant floating caliper because the stock calipers are floating and the new CTS calipers you put on are fixed/solid

You can use a press but you have to remove the hub. They also make a stud installation tool but it is pretty similar to the washer technique.

+Adonay Rogel yep everything to stock. If you have a stage 1 tune with the intake you can keep that on but DP is a no go. They could actually impound your car for that if they wanted.

I just did this to my car. But instead of hammering out the old stud, go to O'Reilly Auto parts and rent a Tie Rod Remover. The Tie Rod Remover was so easy to use, just use a wrench to drive out the old stud.

they are different. the hub and wheel bearing are one assembly and bought as an assembly, no pressing the bearings out. but its extremely easy to change. did my wifes 05 GT in 30 min along with removing the studs. new models have a similar set up in the rear as the 4th gen legacy

So, I can see how this video is for the average garage mechanic that doesn't have access to proper tools. Good video as far as that's concerned. Air tools, a press and 20-30 min tops for all 4 corners. Just remove the hub, air hammer the old studs out, press the new ones in and re-install the parts. It's far easier than anyone would think. Good job though.
