recently ii watched another's video about styles of creative procrastination...in my order of impact, 'collector, organizer, swatcher, planner'...yr beautimous studio is drool worthy...ii am truly blessed to live with friends who let me commandeer the upstairs gameroom and it's undergone four shifts...as a quasi 'treehouse', 2 rear windows separated by a humongous plasma tv have small desks, stations, one for writing, the other for art; the opposite front facing window area is split into a workout space & a computer workspace...in the center splitting these are 3 random couches their kids&friends had used...took a solid week to organize the toys, chairs, bins of stuff no one had played with for years... Watching your tour took away the guilt of having treasures that do get used -irregularly-but are as much creative juice visuals for each station. Even the 3 couches are 'designated' ...sleep, tv, guest-nap- new view spots. Tmi....but every day ii am grateful to be here ...even small zentangle & mixed media tools took over needing the smallest bedroom's closet to store stuff... makes me happy each tool has its place with easy access... Don't stop sharing. Your ideas sparked new ones here. Thx.

I love and learn a lot from your channel. April is wonderful and her shop carries Renesans watercolor paint from Poland. I ordered half pan set and it is my favorite to use. Paints are creamy, easy to reconstitute, mix well and lovely to work with. Look forward to your future art using your stash from her.

Newbie here. Mystele mentioned you in one of her vlogs and I came for a visit, I think I’ll stay awhile. Seriously, you’re ridonculiously adorable! I gotta tell you something though, I sliced the top of my index finger wide open, right down and through the tendon with a box cutter. All in the name of art. Emergency room, stitches and a LONG recovery. So be careful with sharp instruments... I had flashbacks, yes, I had to look away! I’m a recycling mixed media artist (recycledparts4art) but recently started sketching and painting, too much fun! Thank you for being so cute and fun to watch!

i have 2 a tillman and birn zeta some is hard cover but spiral and one soft color it works great for everything i e thrown at them, and the Rendr by crescent is no bleed through so it's incredible too and the paper fools you , you feel like it's just too thin but u can even use alcohol narkers, you're going to love it although by the time u read this you'll have used it and formed ur own opinion lol great video i have had a horrible day with the cancer pain and anxiety, but after binging your channel i'm smiling i did wake up very happy i wasn't waking up dead for another day xoxoxoxoxo

The size of the box for two little pastels makes me realize why it costs $50US to ship to Canada. I’ve filled my shopping cart at Blick’s but I just can’t justify the shipping. Although when I order from Jacksons in the UK or Artemiranda in Spain and it is soooo much cheaper.

You're right about the European shipping...and it's why Jackson's now has a U.S. website or one that will show everything you browse in U.S. dollars. I was amazed when I ordered 2 handmade watercolors from an Etsy seller from Spain...it took a while to get to me, but it was well under $10. It's so fun to get packages from overseas and handmade watercolors are such a joy...you usually get a nice handwritten thank you note and the maker's handwriting of the colors on the pans.

@@nancyloomis3046 Jackson's and Artemiranda do Canadian pricing too and it is so nice to know up front. I think because of Brexit things take a little bit longer than Artemiranda. I did get my new 12 palette of Mairmeri from Jackson's on Friday and Neopastels. Just under a month. And I may have bought those watercolours for the awesome palette they come in.

I recently bought some Renesans watercolors from April. I LOVE them. Amazing quality, and very affordable. The tube paints are so easy to pour, and dry down in the pans beautifully.

I just love how excited you get when getting new supplies.....I am the same way. I was wondering if you could reccommend a few things for beginning level. I love the tin of 82 crayons you got some time ago, but seems a tad on the high side until I get a bit better at my new adventure. I have several items from my scrapbooking and mixed media days,, but sketch books for example....so many and not sure about paper quality, brushes, paints, I can feel myself falling down the rabbit hole. I am so excited to get started........eeeeeeeeeeek! You make it look like so much fun!

I had one that was given to me as a wedding gift in 1987 and I cannot for the life of me remember who makes them. Mine got lost in one of our moves. So, I literally winced at all that excess packaging for the two oil pastels....:(.....very disappointed in Mr.Blick for that one. 🙄. But even that couldn't erase the happy-making delights of one of your videos -- even if you are enabling my sketchbook habit. I'm very envious of the matte acrylics of which I keep hearing delicious rumours -- as it seems they haven't made their way across the border into the art stores of Canada yet and I'm a sucker for a matte finish...*sigh*.....just as well, I'm in a no-spend phase anyway 😂. ❤️

Sandy, I tried a sketchbook recently and really like it... it's by Talens Art Creations and they have it in 11 x 8 also.. decent price and tons of pages..80 sheets (160 pages)... got it at Blick... I used gouache and had to problem..

Another super fun and informative video, Sandi ! Thank you !! Two questions : have you tried acrylic gouache ? I know Nancy Gruskin likes them. Which brings me to the second question. I am currently taking an online workshop with her. I just rewatched the video you did before you went to her workshop and then a little bit while you were there. I THOUGHT on one of your videos you talked a little bit more about what the specific sort of assignments y'all did while you were there . Did i make that up ? I have tried acrylic gouache and it is pretty - I just prefer regular gouache for my sketchbooks because it will reconstitute on my palette and I don’t like it for painting because it comes in such small tubes. Hmmm, as far as another video where I share more about her workshop- I just can’t remember. BUT don’t try to find more - just enjoy the workshop- I would hate for it to be spoiled for you. You’re going to have a blast!

there is such a thing ! somebody( who watched me with scissors ) gave me one but i don't know here she got it. it's a plastic-y thing thats cuts thru tape like crazy but i'm pretty sure it wouldn't cut your finger off.

Renesans is indeed a good quality polish paint brand, although their only “hand made” products are solid oil sticks. I don’t think it’s a family run business, but I might be wrong. Nothing on “family” on their website though.

Sandi, watching you got me super into oil pastels but wanted to know what's the best or good-enough paper to use for oil pastels? Should I gesso the paper or is that just for when using mixed media? Thanks!

No need to gesso it. I like smooth paper for oil pastels - just use paper that's not too flimsy. But I've used it on thin paper in my sketchbooks so really any paper will work.
