kinda hate the mentality of 'if you use too many hashtags, you're a scammer' because it's almost always huge artists saying that. How are smaller artists supposed to be seen without using hashtags when algorithms are actively working against them daily? If you don't have a following, you're not going to get a following unless your stuff is seen. If bigger artists actually boosted smaller artists, that would help a lot of smaller artists that struggle to get more than 5 likes or a single comment on any of their work. send some of your massive audience the small artists way. Especially if it's a legit small artist. Hell, I could barely manage to get 5 likes on any of my works. Every now and again, people will ask why I don't have more followers, then not follow or retweet/reblog my work. Like... hm.. I wonder why?

Adding on top of Lucinfernos' comment, hashtags don't really look pretty and so folks don't like to retweet a post with lots of hashtags. If you think about it, people want to retweet things they want to go back and look, or promote, and so something that is *appealing* is important... and hashtags don't give the right vibe for folks, unfortunately

Anything over 5 is 100% overkill. Just make the post, add 3-5 hashtags and move on with your day. In reality hashtags take up space on posts and people like aesthetic stuff too. So too much just looks terrible all around. It makes posts look more messy, long, desperate, scammerish and realistically hashtags alone aren't gonna net you that many more viewers/followers. Everyone else is using hashtags the same as you so all around you're just doing the same as everyone else. AKA: you're at square one the same as everyone else in terms of making posts.

There's a fine line between realistic hashtags and the spam/scam style hashtags. Its a little like emoji's, one or two that are particularly relevant to the content of the post make sense, a mega-sized spam block of vaguely correlated ones less so.

But do you look up all the stuff you tag? I see a lot of tags people use but can’t think of anyone actually searching up that stuff. You just need a few popular tags but even then, your stuff would get buried by everyone using those popular tags. So I don’t bother with them on my account. I just interact with people and that works well enough with me.

hey kat, dunno if you've seen this and plan to talk about it/aren't interested in the topic, but just in case, a few days ago there was a game dev exposed for having a shitton of the art in her game Anomalous Coffee Machine just being traced from other artists. She scrambled to redo the art and all her followers are dunking on the original artists for "having trash art anyway" which is just wild to me. There was a big thread on twitter with a lot of screenshots/images comparing the stolen designs and the artist pulled out the "i was taking inspo from pinterest" when it's all traced... heinous stuff rly

I might be an outlier but during my BA and MA in concept art I was taught to have variation in style, from personal to professional all being different. I can draw styles ranging from Kim Possible to Photorealistic and it’s showcased throughout my socials. I definitely agree with you on it being stolen art, that’s obvious from their understanding of anatomy being different in each post. But it’s worrying to think people could be looking at an artists page and think because it’s varied that it’s stolen or AI.

As someone who has an inconsistent amount of art styles (ranging from anime to a more semi realism, etc), the biggest give away was other than the AI banner, was the inconsistent art skill TT_TT So be careful if you see an artist with multiple art styles and not jump into conclusion that it's stolen. Be sure to see if in their artwork, you see either constant development or a consistent set of art skill. For example, their first post is rendered beautifully, but next they use messy airbrush could indicate it's stolen. Be safe guys

Find what popular/trending. For example if you do fanart, search people who post fanart about the character and see the most used one. Or you can look at your favorite artists posts and look for hashtag relevant to your art
