You were one heroic mom to venture forth and collect all those berries after the size snake you encountered!!! The pie was gorgeous! You amaze me with four little children you not only made a pie, but such a beautiful one, after attending a childrens birthday party!!!

I love your channel and I really appriciate finally finding a homestead channel where one person works. I feel like alot of the bigger ones both people are home and always getting help and that's just not the life of most people even on homesteads, and with kids.

I’d almost forgot how to make my pie crust from scratch. I’ve never made or eaten fresh blueberry pie. Definitely need to give your recipe a go. You eat with your eye first!! Thanks for sharing!!

Bri I might make a suggestion to help you out. Freeze your butter and then use a box grater to shred it into your flour. I actually use this when Im making my biscuits in the morning.

i want to grow some blueberry bushes! i asked my husband to make me blueberry pancakes for mothers day this year. i'm a simple gal. back in 1944 my mom's side of the family had their picture in the local paper, for King Arthur Flour! Four generations of Reynolds women, its such a cool photo. My 2x great grandmother died within a year of the photo shoot and of course i never got to meet her, i was born in 1955. its funny that they still make that flour. i do think that food is the universal way we can all connect with one another for sure. i don't bake anymore and i never did a pie crust from scratch, i bought those. i loved baking when my boys were young.

Beautiful crust!!! I ALWAYS have trouble with my crusts, and i have made pies for 20+ years

When i was able, food is where i got my joy. I loved that i was a great cook n ALWAYS had people asking me to make certain things that they loved for gatherings or parties. It sadens me greatly that i cannot do that anymore. I had lots asking for my recipes but that was kinda hard for me as i cooked wo recipes. I measured by hand or sight based on how many i was cookung for plus a bit for extra and added spices of all kinds based on my taste that day, also measured by hand. I also cooked like you do using what on hand. Sometimes adding things or omitting things based on what i had. I was taught to cook by my Aunt Beverly and a bit by my Granny. They taught me to peel potatos using a knife peeling into my hands which can be dangerous but i had great teachers so i wasnt scared.

I make the worst pie crust ever and now I know why. I have been letting my butter soften a bit to make it easier. I didn't know it was supposed to stay so cold! Anyway, thanks for the lesson. I will try again and let you know how it goes! I am really enjoying your channel. Thank you!!

The blueberry pie looked absolutely Delicious!! I noticed the wild blueberries are much smaller than the blueberries we get from berry farms were you can go pick your own and pay by the pound. But I'll bet the wild blueberries are sweeter and ten times more flavorful. Your pie crust looked fantastic! I love to cook and bake, but I have to admit I like cheating and use the store bought pie crust you just unroll. LOL. Well thank you for sharing and take care.

Hey Bri, great video! I also have a computerized stove. I would recommend getting a surge protector for the stove. I am sure that you have this for your computer but you may not have 1 for your stove. This will save you money in the future.

Bri, what is a pie crust shield? I have made a lot of pies, but never heard the term. Great instructive video. Thank you for sharing.
@lindasegraves62077 жыл бұрын
Jim Claire a pie crust shield is a metal or aluminum foil piece appx 1" that lays over the edge of the pie crust to keep it from getting to brown or burnt.

So what did you do with all the "juice" that was left in the blueberry bowl,.. wasn't that the sugar/starch/lemon slurry?
@Brifromscratch8 жыл бұрын
It had cornstarch in it. Dumped it out. Any ideas for next time?
@albanymtnlife7 жыл бұрын
you could boil the juice and cornstarch to create a syrup to add on top of pancakes/waffles
