I actually got to meet the guy a few years ago. It was in a cafe, he gave me a couple of his cards and a small snail toy he told me was made of horse hair. He didn’t know how to say horse hair in English so he just made galloping gestures and rubbed his hands through my hair. They still sit on my bedside.

Best intro to Jodorowsky's universe in YT. Great video, as usual. One small detail, the j in spanish is pronounced like the h in english. So the correct pronunciation would be, Ale-HAN-dro Ho-dorowsky. Thanks for the video.

I've seen that documentary and one thing I know for sure: I wouldn't have let that man anywhere close to my beloved DUNE-universe. And I think Frank Herbert kinda hated him too. Still, he had powerful visuals and acid-trips movies to be sure.
@paulobernardo85934 жыл бұрын
Jodorowsky is best when he does Jodorowsky (his own thing). I wish Jodorowsky or nicholas winding refn adapts all his graphic novels which are masterpieces into movie trilogies or long tv series whether live action or animated. For me, He can still continue the so called failed dune project. He can still re structured it without ruining his original ideas, he can still retain the giant worms, there were movies with giant worms anyway like tremors, remove all dune references, replace the movie title dune, replace the characters name and create a new universe independent of dune and more faithful to his own vision. That would be great, in my opinion.
@paulobernardo85934 жыл бұрын
Jodorowsky has his own Jodoverse,which is imaginative by itself, he does not need to bother the dune universe anymore in my opinion.

yeah celiynd I don't think he would have got the social / economic / political thing right according to the book but it would have been a visual masterpiece hopefully.

And I feel like it would have been even less fans of the movie. It could very well end up as a train wreck with too much artsy, saying that as an artist. And his version is totally remade, has almost nothing to do with the book. But it's good that he made his own stuff inspired by Dune.

Down here in Chile, where he's from, most people are divided on him. His stuff is way too fucking out there for the masses to, at the very least, watch or read anything by him, and his psychomagic is so out left field that whenever he gets into the subjects of gender or sex, a lot of people just label him as a him a misogynist quack. Can't say I'm into his Tarot endeavors, I don't believe in that stuff one bit, but everything else I've read or watched by him or about him has been fascinating. I have to keep reminding myself to buy a copy of The Incal, read it so long ago and every time I plan to do it again, I stop myself from looking for it online. I need that hard copy.

CBG19, Talking about Alchemy (kin of Magic), have you ever heard of Isaac Bonewits? He's the only person who may be the only person known to have ever received any kind of academic degree in Magic from an accredited university (UC Berkeley), and said that if magic exists, it is most likely based on subconscious psychic powers and that magic spells only work because of the belief the practitioner manipulated psychologically by the spell (paraphrasing)

Also I wants his Dune Script Book to be digitalized or at least made into anime.
@tximinoman6 жыл бұрын
I know the guy's pretty insane (and I don't doubt he could have potentially made a 14 hour movie) but the whole "Dune was going to be 14 hours" seems, after I watched the documentary, to be an overexageration and a joke. When he talks about it he was talking about how the producers were trying to control his creative freedom, so he said something like "well then it's going to be 14 hours" (it's better explained in the documentary). I don't think that quote needs to be taken literally but rather as Jodorowsky trying to tell his producer he was going to do whatever the fuck he wanted no matter what (which in the end is kind of why he lost that gig). I don't know, at least that's what I took from the Documentary, that his dune movie was going to be long, sure, but not as absurdly long as 14 hours.

Hey could you possibly ever cover the 90's RP Game Vampire The Masquerade? The game was/is still great b/c it's one of the few RP games that forces everyone of its players to delve into their own deepest unconscious parts of themselves and bring it to light. If The GM is good and understand the more cerebral and psychological side of the game, each player(depending how long and committed to the game they are)will learn aspects of themselves they never knew existed. Mark Rheinhagen created something amazing when he created White Wolf's World of Darkness Vampire The Masquerade.
