Using basic shapes makes drawing complicated shapes easier I tended to ignore this method but I realized lately that it s the best

This is perfect! This is what I need to start doing. I'm such a perfectionist that I try to get my outline perfect before I even start the drawing. It drives me nuts. This will really save me allot of time. Thank you Sir!

I have found my new art tutor! I am only 1/2 through the video, and already love how you show every step and and visual clue. Thank you! I look forward to taking your courses.

Wow! That was super helpful. Have no patience for the grid method, so this seems a more intuitive way to approach a drawing. Thank you!

Totally agree with you in regards to using oval shapes when drawing, it is a nice organic shape and very natural to use. Just wondering if you have attempted to draw any Australian wildlife, I am sure you would think they quite unique. Thank you for these wonderful tutorials, I am learning a lot.

This really helped me understand using an axis and shapes. Thank you for the clear explanation as you did the layout. All those at books and studies are finally clicking together in my brain.

This was very helpful, Phil. I have never drawn like this and it is difficult for me to apply this concept. But every drawing book will tell you to look for shapes first. I am going to need a lot of practice. Thank you for reminding me the proper way to approach drawing.

I have seriously lost count of how many different Artists, YT tutorials etc I've looked at trying to find one that I can relate to, based on this I will be checking many more of your vidsPhil, love the way you use the reference angles for scale and position, Looks like it could take some time to get used to but will definitely be using this method, Many thanks ;@)

I tend to try & draw what I see & make soooo many mistakes, but watching you do circles & lines I can understand how the subject has to be, if only I could do it, I can understand how everything fits in but in my head only, I can see what I’m to do but I seam to get lost when I start to draw, I can see I have to practice it over & over for it to sink in, if I want to draw, I have to improve on my work, I am a beginner at 83 but that should not stop 🛑 me trying, thank you for showing me to better myself great 👍🏻 teacher keep your videos coming you are a very good teacher many thanks 🙏🏻 from Australia 🇦🇺👴🏻 would love to know what part of the world you are from,?

Same here, I have a really hard time breaking things down in order to have a good base. So I tend to just visually trace my reference which leads to my whole drawing being off and not really being able to tell why

This is excellent work also if you look at the natural physics of the bird these amimals are the optimum airbourn aero dynsmisists th birid is landing at speed onto a small pointhenceThe tail feathers and head will be or roughly the same length as the body because its all about ballancethe legs are extended for landing tight under the centre of mass in line with the upper curve of the wing which at this point is trying to loose lift and speed without crashing as frthe eye Notice it slightly looking aft and down towards the landing point I. E. It's feet as well as the technique of breaking... it down I've also taken to considering how things have to be made in order to exist this tends to give me a holistic view of the subject Maybe it because in a retiring aeronautical engineer learning a new hobby as part of my post stroke cognitive therapy too! excellent series of demos keep it up kindest regards mickT

This is “how to transfer a photo of a bird to a drawing on paper”, not how to draw a bird. Massive difference.

Hey Dude, Please use a pencil that CLEARLY shows the outlines and angles you are using. Cannot see a clearly defined outline. Thanks pamela
@PhilDaviesArtist7 жыл бұрын
Hey Pamelah, I did use a pretty soft pencil with more pressure than normal. The only way to go darker would be to use charcoal or ink (but that make erasing difficult). Could you have been watching on a low resolution because the marks are pretty clear at 360p and above. Thanks, Phil.
