Arturia Keylab mkII - Logic Pro X Control Surfaces - DAW Mapping Tutorial

IMPORTANT:
Before you follow the guide, please open your Logic Pro X and do the following steps:
Logic Pro X - Preferences - Advanced Tools - (Thick these 3 checks)
- Show Advanced Tools
- MIDI
- Control Surfaces
This guide works fine for Keylab 49 mkII, Keylab 61 mkII, and Minilab mkII.
For any other DAW Control Mapping, such as Pro Tools, Cubase, Ableton, and whatever, please refer to this official Arturia FAQ website for full documentation:

This is great, thanks! But, IMPORTANT NOTE for people who are still having issues, as I was. If your Mackie control surface is disabled with an orange icon then go to Logic Pro X > Preferences > Advanced Tools, and make sure that the Control Surfaces option is checked. Mine was unchecked and I was unable to get this to work. Checking that solved all my problems. Again, thanks for the great tutorial cukis!

I'm not sure how you discovered using a Mackie control Surface rather than an Arturia was the way to go, but it works! Many thanks! So, I actually tried this as well and I don’t even have the option to “check” or “uncheck” I am getting a bit frustrated. Does anyone have any other way to help? Right now on the Control Surface Setup the Mackie Icon has a orange exclamation “!” On the top right and it’s not reading any of my right clicks as well. Please help. 🙏

Appreciate this tutorial! Do you know if there is any way to have the knobs/encoders automatically assign to the corresponding Smart Controls for a given instrument? With my Oxygen Pro, I have to manually reassign the knobs each time I change the instrument I'm controlling via Smart Controls.

Re-visiting this post, my Arturia midi recently stopped working out of nowhere and I’ve tried everything I can think of and seen on the Internet to get it working and nothing yet. So here’s a list: I’ve tried different USB cables, tried different Midi’s so it’s not just Arturia specific. My USB hub reads my external hard drive but not my midis. I tried the whole Midi Setup thing on Mac and it leads nowhere because it simply isn’t reading the midi so the Arturia Midi Control Center is out of the question since it doesn’t read it. I also tried following these steps again and setting up a new Mackie controller in Logic and of course nothing because it doesn’t read it. I also downloaded Midi Monitor and again it doesn’t work because it doesn’t read it. The Midi turns on perfectly fine like any other day so power is running to it. My USB hub is brand new and so is my macbook and my Arturia Keylab 49 MKII. If anyone has anything to add to this let me know so I can tell you if I’ve done it or not and I can get closer to solving this problem. Of course it’s completely frustrating and mentally exhausting, I just want to continue making music asap and getting over this. Thanks in advance! 🙏🙌

On my version (firmware revision 1.1.2) it doesn't have the option to select a DAW - it only has Global Parameter and Pad Backlight as the options when you go into Device Settings. Really frustrating! Anyone know why?

Zé Marcelo Alencar yea mate! If you can play the drums via tuts, but it wont play via pads, it most likely because of the “octaves” mapping. Try to look around some settings in your Arturia Midi Control center.

Yeah Mate, all is good. I can't really answer all of your question if in fact I didn't try it my self yet. So, here's some words that I can convenienly give; 1. I still using the Logic 10.4, not planned to upgrade soon because there's some WIP projects to be done. 2. You can download all drivers/firmware and software in Arturia's official website 3. You can manually assign and customize knobs, faders, and whatever you need to suit your workflow 4. Velocity and Sensitivity of drum pads (and even the keyboard keys/tuts) can be adjusted manually in Midi Control Center software Hope it helps, Mate :)

I did exactly what you did here and it works except for the Fast-Forward buttons are not recognize. The screen flashes and it tells me that it is no recognized. Any ideas? Thank you for the info though. Very useful.
