I sat next to a young man on a flight from New York to Denver who had just got a divorce from his husband. He was reeling with his emotions. He opened up to me about how devastated he was. As we got to talking he shared that he was Catholic and that his father who was also Catholic and had turned his back on the church was in hospice. I asked the young man if a priest had been called and he said no. We talked for a while and then he grew quiet. He then leaned over and looked into me eyes and said he had been praying for a sign. I told him that God loves him more than he could ever know. As we were departing from the plane, I gave him a hug and told him I would pray for him and God bless. You just never know when an opportunity to share God's love will present itself.

So, this Friday I am meeting my mom. I am going to tell her how God loves her and sees her. She is an atheist. Also she has very low self-esteem and everything which comes with it. She likes craft work and makes very unique flowers from all sorts of materials. In a prayer I just got a new perspective of her work, which is: those flowers represent her and how God sees her. So I am going to ask her to explain her flowers, I plan to add my views (like pretty, detailed, etc.). Also I invited my brother (left the faith) as well so I will ask him about those flowers and I will make my mom to write it down on a piece of paper. Then I am going to face her: that is how God sees her. And as she is able to form those flowers from different materials she can form her own thoughts and feelings as well to match to those attributes we all gathered about her (flowers). Then I will let her know that no-one is perfect except God, but we can try our best at least. ❤ I am so thankful for God to lead me to this path and looking forward to this visit at my mom's! ❤ God bless you Fr. Mike and AP team for what you do for our faith!

Great video father Mike. Me, in 10 minutes, I will share that GOD is fear and awe. That like Moses, we are held to a higher standard and we need to follow gods laws. That we are broken, vanity of vanities. God loves us so much, he is crazy in love with us and his Mercy is always available. Lord Jesus Christ is salvation, he gave us his church, the 7 sacraments, imagine what would happen in our world, when we all accept Jesus as our new covenant catholic christian church. This is our inheritance and lord Jesus Christ is waiting for you to claim your inheritance. Go to a catholic mass and claim your inheritance. I am praying for you.

Ok, Fr Mike. I didn't watch the video yet, but had a go at my 'Bible in 10 min elevator speech'. I will go and watch the video now, and then spot all the important points to add to mine. But for your amusement, please see below how I would attempt the 10min challenge. Note, I thought it was better to be told from a point of salvation, not just a 10 min 'book review' thus the title change: The Story of salvation in 10 mins. Genesis : God eternal, out of space and time, created everything, including the world. God also created others, the Angels. One of whom was jealous of God and rebelled. God cast this angel (the devil) out of Heaven and he now seeks to undo Gods good works, by lies and deceit. The Fall: God created Mankind (Adam & Eve), and in addition to having a Spirit like the Angels they also had bodies. God loved Mankind and provided them with freewill, so that they could ‘choose’ to love God in return. God provided everything that Adam & Eve required. They were immortal. The devil was very jealous of Mankind and that God had made them with qualities that even Angels had not been given. So he set about undoing Gods work and breaking the relationship between God and Mankind. To that end, the devil temped Eve to use her freewill against Gods wishes and this ultimately led to Adam and Eve becoming mortal, subject to death and decay and being banished from the garden. This is our ‘original sin’. Abraham: God doesn’t give up on Mankind and when the time is right he finds one man worthy enough to become our guide back to the light. Abraham is that man, and he listens and does exactly as God asks and is rewarded by many children who become the Jewish people and try live according to God will. God answers their call in many times of need, including freeing them from slavery. But often, once things are going well, they think they no longer need God and they fall into temptation and out of grace. This is usually followed by disaster and then eventually the people return to God and pray and repent. Time and again this is repeated and each time Gods patience and forgiveness never runs out. Over many generations Prophets arise from among the people, they have a better connection with God, they relay instruction to help keep the people on track. Often prophets however are killed by the people for speaking the truth. Scribes record the messages from the prophets over many generations and those messages foretell the coming of the Messiah, who will save the people. These recorded works are all part of the Old Testament. Jesus: God loves mankind so much that he offers us the chance to redeem ourselves and become immortal again. This is made possible via his Son Jesus (’The Word of God is made flesh’). Jesus comes to fulfil the prophecies recorded throughout the Old Testament, including his own death, to which he goes willing. He offers himself as a sacrifice to God for our sins. Jesus proves he is the son of God via many miracles including bringing people back from the dead. Many of the Jewish people and Gentiles (non Jews) now believe and follow him, but others do not and call for him to be killed. On many occasions Jesus tells his followers, disciples (12 of whom are his closest friends, his Apostles) that he will be taken and killed and on the 3rd day rise again. But they don’t understand fully until it has happened and they meet with him several times after (as do many others, including large crowds). Importantly, during what is called the last supper Jesus blesses wine and bread and then shares it with his Apostiles, telling them that this is his body & blood which will be offered for the forgiveness of sin. (This is a direct parallel to Jewish practice at the time where A sacrificial lamb would be offered to the Levite priests to atone for sin.) He instructs his Appostles to do this in ‘reinstantiation’ of him (not just ‘in memory’ but to re-create the event). His good news (‘Gospel’) message is that, we too will be risen from the dead in our own human bodies on the last day and we will be immortal. However, in order to spend that eternity/immortality with God we must first use our freewill to choose God. To choose God we must try and live our life in the way that Jesus has shown us. Forgivness: The good news is also that God knows our default is often sin, but he will also always forgive us, if we are sincere in our repentance. He has his hand out, we only have to reach ours out in return.

Fr Mike I’m not sure if you’ll see this but could you make a video on non-Catholic christians coming into the church? I want to be Catholic but I’m disheartened by the lengthy process of initiation because I am already a baptized, believing christian. Is there a quicker process for non-Catholic christians to come into the fullness of the church? It’s hard for me to grasp this and maybe because I am impatient but I already have faith in our Lord and his body and blood and have been discerning and learning about the catechism for 5 years. Please if you could answer this I would appreciate it! Thank you for all you do!

Many years ago, I went through the first few months of RCIA, then got cold feet and backed out. Spent six years reading and praying on it, then decided I was sure I wanted to become a Catholic. I was ready to start back over at the beginning with RCIA, but when I spoke to the pastor he realized I already had a very solid knowledge of the Faith based on my study of the Catechism, early church fathers, and readings by the likes of St. John Paul the Great, Scott Hahn, and Patrick Madrid. He suggested a few meetings with him. After two one-hour meetings, he set up my baptism and confirmation, and shortly thereafter I was received into the Church. I'm not saying that you would find a priest who would be willing to do that, but you might check.
@kelkabot3 ай бұрын
You can read my comment below, but also you might think about the parable of the man who found a treasure in a field and sold all he had in order to have it. The months of RCIA are short relative to a beautiful eternity with Christ's church. There's a reason the Church is careful in its catechesis, and consider this: in the early Church, people who wanted to join spent THREE YEARS in directed formation before they were received into the Church.

For me already identifying myself as Christian before becoming Catholic, I didn't mind that RCIA took almost a year because I wanted to truly understand what I was getting into and I was also never baptized. But for you it might be good anyways even if you've studied yourself so you can ask questions directly and get to know other people on the same journey as you.

"If what you say is true, he will very soon occupy this place underneath my feet. I knew from the scriptures that he would come, but I did not know that he would be from you. If I could reach him, I would go immediately to meet him; if I were with him, I would certainly wash his feet." Heraclius's response to Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) letter. The letter read: In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. This letter is from Muhammad, the Servant of God and His Messenger to Heraclius, the ruler of Byzantines. Peace be upon those who follow the right path. I invite you to the call of Islam. Accept Islam, and you will find peace. God will double your reward. But if you turn away, then you will have the sin of Arisiyyin upon you. A logical question might be asked here: Why did Heraclius reject Islam? Answer - He feared a rebellion by his people and his own assassination, just as befell their senior-most religious scholar, Saghater. Bishop Saghater read Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) letter. He immediately became a Muslim, and he declared his Islam in front of a large gathering in the largest Church. The moment the people heard it, they rushed to him and killed him.
