Really appreciating these comparison videos as I am on a very tight budget! Switched to asda smart price for a few things and have been quite surprised by them. Usually get the breaded chicken burgers for a lunchtime snack and they are alright once the chilli sauce is on there. It definitely looks like Asda Smart Price items, are pretty good compared with the more expensive products... I've seen a few reviews of the Smart Price items you've done before Gaz... And they all seem to do really well in comparison tests... There's almost no difference between these two Beef Burgers... Certainly none that kids could detect anyway... Like you said, once they chuck it in a Burger Bun with a load of Ketchup etc. they won't know the difference anyway... £2.18 less for the Smart Price Beef Burgers means with the money you save... You can buy a large bag of Asda Smart Price Chips 1.5kg for £0.90... And a pack of Warburtons 8 Sliced Soft White Rolls for £1.00, and still have change left over... Why would anyone want to pay the extra money!?... Another great money saving review Gaz... Keep up the good work mate... Cheers. 🍺

@@BaldFoodieGuy Top tip here Gareth! Take a sachet of Dioraltye (Electrolyte brand name) in a pint of water before going to bed. Learnt this from my mate whos a fireman here in Dublin. Alcohol is a diuretic, and your body wants to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Your body uses up huge amounts of water to get the alcohol out of your system hence why you pee a lot when drinking. You lose all the salts in your stomach from going to the toilet which leads to dehydration and a monster hangover. I never have a hangover any more..try it!

Hi Gareth, l hope your doing great, the only difference here is that Asda middle range uses 100% normal beef mince and the economy supermarket burger/ Smartprice can use up to 30% Offal i.e. kidney heart and tongue, in the manufacture of the burger that's how their is part of the price difference. All supermarkets make their money on the middle range not the economy range. They use British and lrish meat as it says on the box, the man who owns meat/burger factory is one richest man in the UK and Ireland, he owns meats factories in four different countries in Europe, and one in brazil and he even owns two dog/cat food factories.

I buy the chilled ASDA Succulent 8 Beef Burgers, atm they are on offer for 2 for £7 £5.14 per kg, Beef (86%) we freeze the extra. Currently the frozen 10 pack asda burgers are £5.28 per kg. I will point out that the frozen birdeye 4 pk burgers are currently on offer for 5 pk for £5 or £4.42 per kg. We like the flavour, texture and size of the ASDA Succulent Beef Burgers compared to the prefrozen ones, that being said we have 10 of the birdseye 4pks in the chest freezer as well as they are ideal for any in the moment beer and burger evenings in the back garden.

If u want good burgers then make them yourself. Get beef mince, salt pepper, grate some fresh garlic, mix it up, pop in a burger press, fry burgers and some red onion, then just before burgers done add Stilton to the top and grill them until melted. Pop in lightly toasted buns and throw some salad and bits on job done. Pork burgers are always good to do needs fresh coriander in burger mix and swap strong cheese for mild like mozzarella or Brie

Another thought here... How much would it cost per pound/kilo/grams for the beef? While I would always opt for the meatier option to avoid the high carb/junk fillers, I would also consider if it's cheaper to make my own from beef. For example, there is a super sale price here (New Jersey USA) for (80/20 meat/fat ratio) ground beef for $2.49/lb. That's 454 grams. I would make 4oz burgers here, but that would be 113 grams, so I'd get 4/lb of beef. Your beef patties are half that weight. So I could get 8 - 56gram all beef burgers for $2.49. They typically do not sell a lot of frozen beef patties here in winter, but the closest I could find would be a 2lb box for 12.99! Yikes! That's $6.50/lb! Lidl here are selling fresh 80/20 beef patties on sale for $4.49/lb and 80/20 ground beef is $3.99/lb on sale.

In the north where im assuming he's from it costs around $6.40 for 2.2lb of 80/20 beef mince. We normally can buy 500g or 1kg packets from the supermarket or by weight from the butcher.

If you want to save money use this recipe: 1/2 lb mince, breadcrumbs from 1 slice of bread, seasonings i.e. salt, pepper, garlic granuals etc and an egg. Mix together and portion out to your own size. Very tasty and you know what's in it. You can add chopped onion or small pieces of cheese, bit of oxo - which all adds to the cost but really tastes brilliant.

Where I live there is no Asda, Tesco, Lidl or most of the supermarkets you have in the UK. We do have Aldi and Woolworths and a couple of other local supermarket chains. For this reason we do not have access to many of the brands that you test. We do however have local brands and their smart price equivalents, (also known as generic brands.) I must admit that many of the smart price brands offer good value for money, especially for those on a limited budget. I am a pensioner, and I am certainly not rich, so I have to shop wisely. I am certainly not too proud to put a few generic brand goods into my shopping trolley if it means saving a little money.

Who's this bloke... Anyone know him..🤔... O... it's you Gareth. Without the face fuzz.. Better, sharp look. Mate you are Spot On here with this review. I gather the greater weight loss for the ASDA burger maybe because of the extra added salt. It draws the moisture out of fatty meat while cooking. I recommend you try Pressure Cooking a few of these type of burgers. Wrap each one in aluminium foil, place on the lowest rack and pressure cook on HI for 8 -10 minutes, slow release for 5 minutes. This method keeps the moisture in, but not chared brown in colour. Give it a go, it works. Another great review today Gareth. Cheers mate 👍🤤😀🇦🇺

Good tip John, yes I should experiment more with the pressure cooker to be fair. See we salvaged a draw at the cricket. All the best mate 🏏😋👌
@johndavis79442 жыл бұрын
@@BaldFoodieGuy Yes Salvaged is the word. A draw is better than another outright loss. Well it's on to Hobart for the 5th and final. Maybe the Blue Caps can get a win there. All the best.

I've had a look at what's sold here in Oz and ours are very similar to yours in this review. Coles and Woolies own brand are pretty much the same, Aldi's are less in overall weight and the I&J Big Beefer is quite a weighty patty. Prices vary per kilo, Coles and Woolies have 10 patties per package with Aldi it's only 8 per package. So I've made a special menu and I'm going to cook some up using 3 of the ninja's functions, grill, air fry and pressure cook. All will be cheeseburgers, onion ring, pickle, cheddar cheese, Dijon mustard and a New York style of Hotdog sauce 👍🤤😀 Have you watched the KZbin "Ballistic Burgers" channel? This guy makes/replicates some of the best burgers been and gone, here and now. Great inspiration if you're looking to make a top notch burger. Cheers mate.

It's not often I go "up market," but I've been buying ALDI Angus Beef Burgers. Around £2.49 for four, if memory serves. They're lovely and meaty! Also, they don't contain Onions, like cheap burgers. I hate Onions!

Once again, my kind of review Gareth, anything to save money without a complete compromise on quality. When I was watching the video, I was thinking . . . and then you said it! If the cheaper burger in a roll with lettuce, tomato, onion, etc, and sauce; would anyone know the difference? Great savings too, or two for the price of one? A positive, unbiased review pal. Brilliant!!!

Cheers John, very kind of you to say. The cheaper ones are great just a little salt maybe throw some burger seasoning over it. Live was great Friday night. All the best 😋🍔👍👍

I got some Morrisons,Asda or possibly Sainsbury's cheapo burgers for our beast of a dog. He absolutely loves them and I tried a bit of the Burgers. I was surprised that they weren't too bad at all The dog agreed as well What does Harry Munck reckon about the Burgers I was pissed last night as much as the Canadian logger on Friday

40yrs ago my dad ran a club in the neighboring town, i'd visit him on a saturday morning and he'd send me for lunch 'up town'. i'd get burgers, onions and chips £1.25 (2 cheap burgers (no buns), fried onions and homemade chips), i must have been 11 years old.....felt like a millionaire. simpler times eh?.

I allways check the beef percentage, then figure out how much im paying per kilo of actual beef not filler. Most of the time your better of buying mince sometimes even cheaper just to mince a steak up.
